• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

What game are you currently playing?

I'm playing NBA2K26 on the switch 2. It play and looks very well. The resolution was sacrificed to have the upgraded visuals.

I also just started Red Dead Redemption Remaster on the Switch 2. In handheld mode, it looks and performs very well. Bring on RDR2 you MFers!

Started a bunch and wasn't sure where to finish. After finishing Ninja Gaiden 4 and Shinobi I didn't know what I wanted to finish. I had started Cronos, BL4, Still Wakes the Deep, Guild Wars Reforged, Dragon Quest I & II (almost done with DQ1), and then Octopath Traveler 0 (beat the first two major quest bosses).

Figured it was time for the annual Dark Souls II play through. Dark Souls II SotFS is like a fine wine. It gets better with age.

You can hear it just by looking at it.

I just started playing RE2 Remake for the first time, after making LTTP for RE1 and RE0 earlier. The game is bloody fantastic so far. Both me and my mate have been enjoying it immensely. We've just collected the red gemstone. After I'm done I'll make a LTTP for it as well methinks.

I got a good deal on a pair of Shure SE894 Gen 2 IEMs and got Amnesia Rebirth for $1.50 during the PSN holiday sale and figured it was a good combo to give a whirl. I really loved Amnesia back in the day and it is easily the scariest game I've ever been able to finish (I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to horror games). I'm only an hour in or so, but Rebirth isn't scary at all. I hope it picks up.

Congrats on the earbuds. How is the latency on these? And might I ask how much you paid?

I got crazy addicted to MH Stories 2, I never thought this game could be this fun.

People comparing this game to Pokémon but I'm seeing more elements from SMT more than Pokémon.

Question: Unlike in RE1 the Claire part is wholly unique and not optional right? We're playing as Leone for now.
You always need to finish the game with both characters to see the true ending. Once you're done with Leone, you'll get a "Claire 2nd" option. But beware, unlike in OG RE2 the 2nd playthrough is not fully fleshed out. There is a lot of overlap (same bossfights).

Several reasons that aren't relevant to the topic so I'd rather not opine about them. I'm trying to be positive since DQVIIRe is a good time.

I hope DQ VII is the spark that reignites your passion for gaming again. We all lose that flame sometimes so it's good when a game comes around that reminds us how good gaming can be.

Dead Space 2008 - got it for 60p a s have it running at 4k 120fps

The sound design and atmosphere is incredible in this game, so much more intense than the remake was.

I got this a week before it released originally and it took me over 2 years to actually finish it cos it's so uncomfortable.

Think I can do better now after my Alien Isolation experience though.

God damnit. I knew Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was too good to be true.

Second chapter (Egypt) and of course they introduce a lesbian and women are discussing important stuff while Indiana is acting like a baffoon in the background.

Took me right out of the game.

So done with western games in 2026.

It's a shame to loss on a great game for minor thing like that, I'll be honest that didn't bother me at all.

Well, the game does that a bit of a nosedive after Egypt... It's still a good game though overall.
Personally I was glad it was over, not worth going back to all again, unless you are a fan of the titanboa battle, (which was the biggest reason it took me so long to complete..) as well as the dam scorpions in the Egypt section...nails the atmosphere for sure and was better than the actual last movie in the franchise...but after the main story was over, and without Gina, no real point in wandering around on your own...

Separately after giving Keeper a go on the Xbox, I just haven't found it to be all that engaging, so I'll likely uninstall it..some of the puzzles are a bit long winded, and to me it's like Jusant...intriguing at first, but likely not something I'll stick with...

i was trying to play FF8, but even though I really like the story and the characters and the setting, the game mechanics feel like they were designed by crazy people out to troll me :o . everything is so incredibly obtuse and poorly explained. idunno, might continue, maybe not.

if not, i'll play NEO The World Ends With You, because the original on DS is one of my favourite games ever.

I myself think the entire section in Asia was unnecessary. The game would have been better off cutting it. I was literally like "another one?!" when I saw the map. Did next to nothing there and only breezed through the story missions. So yeah, I can relate with you being glad it was finally over.

It's hard going back to RDR1 after playing the best game of all time, RDR2. It's like eating a perfectly cooked medium rare prime rib dinner one night, then having Arby's the next. Both meals are good, but one is just lower in quality.

the hunting and the feeling of riding around in the world (which is still the most beautiful game world ever made, in my opinion) are definitely better than the original, but I wish Rockstar had gone back and ironed out a few things. apart from stealing carriages, crime really doesn't pay in that game, because of the magic sherrifs who appear out of nowhere and instantly know who you are. it should be hard to get away with big crimes, but they made it basically impossible. The new, bespoke bounty hunter missions are nice, but i miss the ones in the original game that never ran out.

also, Red Dead 2 doesn't have Mexico, which was the most beautiful area in the original game.

100% DuckTales Remastered. That last section with the race to Scrooges Number One Dime and lava pool is always nerve-wracking. Even more so on Extreme. But in all honesty, it´s not that difficult. The funny thing is, Extreme difficulty is just the normal difficulty in the NES original. That´s how much modern gaming has softened us up from the dreaded 8-bit days :messenger_beaming: Anyway, this game is a favorite of mine. I have huge nostalgia for the original and this remake is excellent in every way, from animation to sound to the classic level design. The added story content is also great. Very fun to play all the way through.

So much so, I think that's the reason I appreciated it being on Gamepass, instead of having to purchase it to find out for myself...I'll watch the DLC eventually -again not something I would pay to get for the game..

I love 8 and there's something I think is important to know about it.

For the type of person who hordes items and will not use them for the whole game, or otherwise wants to "max" things, this is a bad game. That's a lot of people, and is a big reason that opinions on the game are mixed. I think I would call it bad design because they should know people play like that. The problem is drawing spells and stocking them up, then having to spend them to cast. This drives some people nuts.

But if you're like me and you want to see what's around the next corner, only grinding levels if I really have to, it's a really fun system.

Resident Evil 3 remake - Finished - 8.5/10
I seem to enjoy this more than most Resident Evil fans. Despite Jill being my favourite video game character, I always found the original Resi 3 to be my least favourite of the classic games. I don't hate it or anything, I just prefer 1 and 2, which is probably why I'm not that bothered about the cut content or anything. I need to go and play through the original again sometime soon.

Bought Cyberpunk Ultimate Edition on PS5. I've bought and played it before at release on Stadia.

This is now a whole different experience. Only couple of hours in, but I like it much more than my first play through, which ended halfway through the story and where I got sick of the bugs.

Looking forward to Phantom Liberty.

How often did you finish it? I found myself liking it less with each playthrough. Loved it the first two times. Finished it the 4th or 5th time a few weeks back and... it's really rushed.

Not sure how many playthroughs exactly, but it's definitely over five and the last one was in 2024. First time playing on PC and I've got everything cranked up so it looks great.

i'm sorry, missed Your reply
yeah, i had some waifus there,
i think i will buy the second, because there is mommy mliker in the trailer : ))

The most annoying area of the first game was the White Cathedral Area, I was lost of hours until I decided to use a Youtube Walkthrough of the area. That helped a lot

As for Code Vein II, it looks like they super toned down the fanservice which is a massive skip for me especiallly since the first game had a massive amount of it

Got Borderlands 4 yesterday on Steam. I'm about 12 hours in and I'm enjoying it way more than I expected. The gunplay and movement in general are surprisingly good.

Picked up this single‑shell Jakobs shotgun and it's so satisfying to blast enemies with.

Looking forward to get it when it's on sale for PS5, had a great time with BL3 and it's DLCs.

i'm at the White Cathredal right now : ))
yea, looks more easier because more flashy combos
but well, this is more to easy leaning toward soulslike genre, i guess kind of my relaxation games
have You try AI Limit? i think i want to try that game as well

Good luck man that area is confusing on purpose

No, I'm not interested. I'm not really into Souls Like games

God of War Ragnarok. Although the story and some parts are "dum dum", the combat is still enjoyable.

There are two things left for now: finishing the Crucible challenge and Gna. I don't bother to get the Platinum, if I have to look at YouTube, there's no way to find all ravens and some tricky missing chests.

Just started Hell Is Us. Good stuff so far. The constant five minute loop of glitchy ethereal music is a little annoying, though. It was nice at first, but I'm hoping it becomes more varied as you go further in the game.

I finished up my Amnesia Rebirth playthrough over the weekend. As much as I enjoyed The Dark Descent, I've played enough Frictional Games games now to think that they just aren't for me. Rebirth wasn't the least bit scary and the enemies were annoying until you figure out that death by the usually warps you to where you need to be which kind of defeats their purpose. I also kind of hate how some of the notes are voiced, but most are not and you usually have rooms with note beside note beside note, which probably helps from an immersion standpoint, but just feels like a chore to read everything. Rebirth really reenforced my appreciation for Scorn which I didn't really enjoy playing all that much, but I think that was exactly the designers intention for the player. It like The Dark Descent also had a great sense of place whereas Rebirth often feels disjointed.
