New Nioh 3 demo coming 1/29. Progress carries over. Steam and ps5.

No reason to play this above 120fps anyway, when 90% of players will use a controller.
More like 99%. Those games are evidently made for controllers in mind. I play M+KB whenever I can, but for action games like this, it's a controller.

Edit: Ah, wait, there are some items I'm missing from the Crucible. Probably there.

An idiot who thinks a THIS looks better than Nioh 3 and doesn't know the difference between a weapon parry and a universal deflect, doesn't know you can purify in Ninja, actually thinks you have less options when you have more, and doesn't actually understand anything about the game. Congratulations, you went into the game expecting a carbon copy of Nioh 2 and learned nothing about it.

And what kind of moron shows a screenshot to prove the game looks bad and then replies with this stupid shit when someone else shows a screenshot to prove them wrong? How about you fix the graphical settings in your game so it doesn't look like mud and quit pretending it looks like your image at all?

Ninja is so fucking good. I love all the people crying about it because it shows they have no clue how to play the game. I switch to Samurai for flavor and just fun, but I could easily play the entire game in Ninja. The evade double dodge, throwing weapon passives when dodging, purging while evading, etc. It's incredible and fast and fluid and that's with the basic stuff we've seen in the demo. I'm excited to see what other passive skills you get throughout the game because just based off of this first area they change the game pretty significantly.

You can purify in Ninja form. There is a passive skill drop that allows this.

But yes, Samurai is still good. Like I mentioned earlier I beat that human boss just by deflecting and punishing and it was pretty satisfying. And there will always be enemies that are better suited for one or the other, I just think Ninja is crazy good overall.
Where did you get this? I explored the whole map and didn't find it. Is this a random drop?

If you think a half assed emulator can capture the vibrance and motion clarity of the real thing on a full HD CRT or plasma I have a bridge to sell you.

I guess you have never used Impenetrability skill with Tonfas in either Nioh.

Even if you choose to waste passive skill points to purify in Ninja you don't get increased stamina regen like after a ki pulse.

How many stances do you have access to for kusurigama, tonfa, and dual axes in Nioh 3? How much Omnyo magic do you have access to? The answer is less than the previous Niohs.

The picture you showed is not an accurate representation of in-game visuals as photo modes and replays rosy up the visual fidelity of a game. Mine is an in-game example of when lighting, particle effects, and background colors come together to create awful image quality. I have been tweaking in-game graphics since before you were born junior. This game's graphics take several steps backward from the previous efforts of Team Ninja and it shows.

C'mon son...

Im having fun with the demo might be in for release. Never played the second game. Is it much better than the first one?

I just wish these games looked a little better in the art style department. At least you can make a good looking character to play as.

There's no reason to play the first Nioh with Nioh 2 available. The only reason I'd recommend it is if you thoroughly enjoyed 2 and 3 and want more of it. 2 does everything 1 does, but better.

the game looks very nice on PC especially the cut scenes, but so did Nioh 2 even to this day. Very good art direction, if only they can make the gameplay look as good,

All of it? Most of it? Who knows because we've seen a demo not the entire game. The spells are on Soul Cores now. You can use them to Summon creatures or use them to cast spells.

It's almost like you didn't bother learning anything that the game does new.

The picture I showed is my own fucking screenshot of in game. WTF are you talking about? You posted a screenshot showing how ass the game looks on your machine and I, in turn, showed a screenshot disproving that the game looks like that on mine. Does the game even have a photo mode? I took it with the Nvidia screen shot hotkey. Literal in game graphics, exactly how it looks when I'm playing. You are clearly fucking something up in your settings.

And if you had been doing this before I was born, you'd be dead old timer. Not to mention, claiming you've been doing this for that long isn't a flex when you can't even manage to not make your game look like shit and mine looks so much better that you thought it was a fucking photo mode...lol.

The game looks better than any Nioh before it, point blank, period. If you don't think so you're blind.

Here you go grandpa, I know you are slow and didn't realize this, but Evade does, in fact, restore Ki. It's right there in the print. Evade in Ninja kicks ass, it purifies, restores Ki, increases your gauges and allows for a second dodge. So, you're wrong again.

And yes, they took away stances in Ninja mode, but they added stuff as well, like the double jump and the massive amounts of ariel attacks and combos. They added in an entirely new skill system. You have two separate builds to play at the same time, instead of having to respect to change your playstyle. They added the Arts gauge, etc. They added every bit as much as they took away, and then some.

Just quit while you are behind. Go play Nioh 2 and stfu, the rest of us well be enjoying the next evolution of this great series.

Two things bother me with this game.

1. The ninja weapons are also weapons you have in the previous games. However, ninja doesn't have three stances, so a lot of weapons have lost much of their flavor
2. Since ninja and samurai have a different set of equipment, there's even more trash to sort through now and god knows there's a lot of garbage loot in this game

Bro just stop.....it's getting embarrassing. No one give AF about your ridiculous Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 + CRT argument. I realize everyone has opinions but yours is just wrong. I'm not even sure why you're still fighting this fight.

Its a very strange argument for sure! I don't know exactly what's supposed to make sigma visually superior? Especially as that last shot half in the water exhibits some pretty bad visual artifacts due to the low precision of the water effect. Its also self evident that asset quality in every aspect is way higher in the newer game, as is overall scope, vfx, etc.

Notice how my screenshot has UI and yours doesn't? Even in the highest quality video captures the blending of lighting, environment and volumetric effects produce the same effect at times. That is the inconsistency I spoke of that you are trying to write off for some reason.

I was referring to Nioh 3's Mist (Ninja special evade) specifically. Even Samurai has use of an evade. We were talking about different things.

It remains to be seen whether what they added or rearranged makes up for what they seemingly removed. I intend to at least see the endgame potential and DLC additions before forming a final opinion on it.

Technically since you can swap between Ninja and Samurai Classes you actually have 4 movesets at your disposal at any given time. And with Ninja you give up 2 movesets for Ninjutsu utility from ranged attacks, utility and physical arts centered around mobility.

Also with 2 sets of equipment you can actually strategically swap between them and have essentially double the amount of skills. Not to mention access to 2 different Guardian Spirit skills and also having the option of 2 different Living Artifact transformations.

Thus far though I think maybe the only bad thing is Onmyo and Soul Cores seem nerfed or at least not as fun as Nioh 2. Mainly because they take up item slots instead of a input and that Yokai attacks are just flat summons now instead of moveset extensions.

It's very early but in terms of the transformations I feel Yokai Form > Living Artifact since the Brute, Feral, Spectre forms were more engaging then LA which just seems to be very spammy for big damage.

Burst counter seems to implement both Brute and Spectre's interrupt and perfect block mechanic and Ninja is all in on Feral's Perfect Dodge.

Overall I've found Ninja can deal with a lot of things and is especially good at clearing trash mobs while Samurai is good in duels or bullying Bosses provided you have the stats(Ki gauge breaks) and great ki management and deflect timing.

But that's the problem. Double the amount of skills, two guardian spirits, etc. You're playing two characters, not one character split into two or two characters rolled into one. It causes you to spend even more time managing the builds and going through the excruciatingly long list of loot to discard or keep.

I'm glad they tried something new, but I'm not sure this is the way to do it.

Played it for a bit and... It's eh. I liked the last outing better. I might play this is I run out of other things to play which at this point is unlikely.

Finished the demo in co-op earlier today with a buddy. I was having a decent time in the first post-tutorial area, but the second are on the way to the final boss might be the worst designed level in a Nioh game and that's saying something considering strong level design has never been a strength of the series. Just dreadful.

The series has always been dense with systems and they keep adding more density with each release and I'm with you, I'm not sure all the additions are necessarily a positive. I'm pretty tired of Diablo styled loot systems so I have my biases, but you can't go more than a few feet without picking up an item or loot and you are constantly bombarded with menu prompts at the shrines for those systems being expanded. While I'm sure some will like it, I just find it exhausting and wish they'd go the other direction and focus on improving other aspects of the series.

Since gear objectively only matters at endgame I wouldn't worry about managing gear all that much. The only thing I'll prefer to keep is Enemy Sensor(Radar) and you have to look at most gear as just free Amrita.

First you start with white gear, then yellow, then blue, then purple as higher tier gear drops more often you can just filter the lesser gear and offer it all for Amrita with bonus items that you'll sometimes get.

More often then not for getting through the base game you'll probably focus more on defense rating and your equipment weight thresholds. It's only later you look for gear for multiple affixes and start making a build.

It's a bit overwhelming but once you understand it...it gets simpler.

There is literally an auto-upgrade gear setting. Where you don't need worry about it. I swap gear every few hours, as gear is not a huge deal. You can treat it like it a straight up action game and just unlock skill trees

That's kinda missing the point as you can freely redistribute stats at every save-point, so you're more than ever encouraged to experiment and optimize. And as gear should complement your stats and overall approach, just unlocking trees is quite a limited means of developing.

Also, having played the Alpha, its striking how much they've lowered the difficulty in the demo. Pretty much most of the toughest enemies have been stripped out and overall enemy density is way less than it was. Particularly in the crucible map which is a cake-walk next to the Alpha version.

I think people need to start to wrap their heads around the fact that Nioh has been moving steadily away from the Souls-like formula in every iteration. Its nowhere near as strict in terms of consequences for failure, and "tightness" in forcing every stat expended to be carefully considered. For instance the dropping of souls at the point of death is mitigated by abilities that restrict % of xp lost, and affixes that increase the chance of it being auto-recovered on respawn. As I mentioned before you can respec fully at any save-point and the whole "fashion souls" appearance crafting aspect is irrelevant after you get the glamour option from the Blacksmith. Essentially meaning that the only thing that really matters about a piece of gear is its attributes.

bender bender I can only imagine you had a bad time in that map was because you were co-op playing which is going to make getting turned around extra likely when its quite intricate and maze-like. Solo, its way easier because you're forced to pay more attention to the layout and can simply run past the few tough enemies if you feel like they are more hassle than they are worth. Something you couldn't do in the alpha because it was way more densely populated.

That's one thing I noticed. The first boss is a good challenge, but after that, bosses are weak. It's extremely easy to just do a few side quests, come back, and outlevel a boss to a point where skill and knowledge are hardly factors. Thus far, no boss has caused me real problems, whereas Nioh 2 at least forced you to figure out Burst Counter to fight the optional Gozuki early on and the final boss of the second mission. Blocking was always a more viable strategy than dodging, but with the ninja, they made dodging extremely potent, especially with perfect dodge, to the point that you can eschew learning about Ki pulse and stances in favor of just playing it like a Souls games.

More options is almost never a bad thing, but I hope the game doesn't lose its identity in the process.

There are 14 different weapons all with very deep and unique skill trees, a full magic and ninjitsu system, and a Guardian system. If there was ever an ARPG where you could ignore gear and be fine, it is Nioh. The amount of content is absurd

I agree, I much preferred the difficulty of the Alpha version, but Nioh 3 is going to be an on ramp for a lot of new players. The demo Steam charts prove that. The player base is practically the same as day 1 with the demo. You can't introduce all of the gameplay mechanics within Nioh 3 and have it be punishing to start. Too many players would bounce off of it. The game supposedly has 60-80hrs of content. The entire first region is more of a tutorial than anything

Saying that this game looks like a PS3 game is a bit much but it still looks like ass lol. This is PS4 level graphics

And again, who gives a fuck? I see a lot of Chinese UE5 titles that are very shiny and modern but people are hardly getting excited by them.

I'm increasingly of the opinion that graphical supremacy as a thing is basically over. We've hit a plateau where there's no "wow" factor anymore, hence all you get is idiots whining when the UE5 bells and whistles aren't there despite them adding virtually nothing to the appeal.

All that's left is the slow realization that spending a fortune on a high-end GPU is a mug's game for most people.

So what areas should a guy be focusing on for stat allocation for a dual weld sword samurai and a uchikatana ninja? Right now I'm level 6 and have put some in heart, con and stamina. Are there hard and soft caps like the souls games?

I did most points in Cons for the kusarigama. I finished the demo at level 17, so I'm at a 19 when the game finally releases. Your weapon gets stronger the more you use it and the rarer it is the better. As long you notice significant gains. I'll put a point for more stamina. My con is super high the damage output has been noticeable. I started putting points in Skill for the Switchglaive. That sounds like a fun build to play on launch.
But then again.. my build could be crap.

I am inside the crucible and I am having a great time but the same fucking music over and over all the time was definitely one of the choices of all time

For all its misgivings conquering the map (outside of a menu) and doing quests is pretty awesome in Nioh 3. I could see myself exploring every nook and cranny in the full release.

That could be part of it, but it's also incredibly ugly. I'm not one to usually rag on graphics, but combine awful level design with a drab setting drenched in a dull, monotonous color palette and its' the pinnacle of everyone's criticism of the Nioh games that I'm usually happy to ignore.

Need I remind you that GTA V and MGS V came out on PS3?

Listen man, sometimes we are wrong and makes mistake. It's not too late to say hey I admit that maybe I was exaggerating because your argument makes absolutely no fucking sense man. I can buy that the game might look like a ps4 game on steroids, but a ps3 game?

Yeah man, sorry I don't buy it

Are those screenshot supposed to look better than Nioh 3? You just proved Gonzito Gonzito 's point.
The physics, shadows, lighting, transparencies (including particle effects), and reflections do look better and are more complex. The base resolution is lower but it was intended for output to plasmas and FHD CRTs not modern OLEDs.

Unless the game looks MUCH worse on ps5 i dont understand the complaints about graphics. There are games that look so shitty that it distracts or makes me not buy the game, such as all the Switch Pokemon games. This certainly isn't one of them. And there are an absurd amount of graphics options too.

I am just happy it runs well and makes me confident the full game will run well too.

Dunno if it's been mentioned before but there is a secrete mission after you beat the main quest boss. It features quite some new enemies.

They have some really high fidelity assets but they cut so many corners with respect to effects and lighting that it is making it look bad. There are just times when things blend together (like crushed blacks) and no amount of tweaking in-game can remedy it. Maybe that can be reduced by applying Reshade but it feels like a waste to tweak it before the game is out.

Team Ninja games are never short on content.

Looks and runs fine to me on Pro, which I'm not even sure is even Pro enhanced - it may just be the full game that has extra options.

Game looks like its going to be very big too, the demo only covers a sliver of the first (of 4) era. Unless I'm mistaken the alpha had significantly more sub-areas accessible, and even then there was loads more outside of that people found through breaking through edges into unpopulated areas.

If they spent the same amount of time as their competitors making their games I think they'd be more visually consistent, something like Rise Of The Ronin got criticised a lot for its least attractive areas, but at times was really very pretty, and I suspect Nioh 3 is going to be the same.

I give af. No one expecting cutting edge graphics. But to charge full price and deliver PS4 level graphics? Like its not even high end tier PS4. This shite looks crusty as hell lmao.

They deliver a shitton of content, extremely polished top tier combat, seemingly a large variety of enemies, tons of weapons, moves, magic, visual customizations, and some of the deepest arpg action on the market, all of that on a huge scale, but just because they don't have amazing graphics, they shouldn't charge what they think their game is worth?

If you put Nioh 2 and 3 side by side (which I have) there are very significant visual improvements across the board.

Above all else though, I care vastly more about the gameplay than the graphics. Especially in a game like this where my focus 99.9% of the time is on what the enemies are doing, not how lovingly detailed and shaded the next pile of rocks is!

If all you value are the visuals, fine, just don't call yourself a gamer though.

Bro they can charge whatever they want and dont get it twisted no one said the game has to have amazing graphics. The problem is the game looks like ass. MFs on GAF always complaining when there are busted looking chicks in games how is me passing over a game when the entire game looks like ass any different lmao :messenger_tears_of_joy:
