It'll be another phone game since Square hates giving Taro money after Replicant didn't meet their unreasonable sales expectations."NieR: Automata to be continued..." at the end of the PV.

Killer Inn.The squandered potential is insane. The game will be 10 years old next year. What the hell are they doing...
Which studio? The NieR series has never had a single developer attached to them for more than one game.Expecting the studio closure announcement any day now...
This fucking industry...
Yeah, you can get Replicant and Automata on PC. I'd still start with the Replicant because it's the prequel.I've never played a game where n this series. Are they on pc? Where should a person start?
Automata didn't just sell copies; it changed how players think about the medium of video games. If the teaser leads to a new entry, the industry is in for something special.
Square is a joke. This should have had a sequel by now.

I doubt anyone but Yoko Taro is going to be making Nier games, and he's been making other things the last 10 years.Yeah it's nuts, they've been chasing having another big tentpole IP for years, they have a game sell 10 million copies and now no follow-up.
The franchise would definitely need to just die if he wasn't involved, the characters and story are 100% Taro.I doubt anyone but Yoko Taro is going to be making Nier games, and he's been making other things the last 10 years.
We saw that with Drakengard 2The franchise would definitely need to just die if he wasn't involved, the characters and story are 100% Taro.
It's not Nier without this special man and his special brain

Yup and that game is no longer canon to main series anymore. We saw that with Drakengard 2
What a missed opportunity, there were some good things in that game, Caim was great, and the combat was at least decent, but man, until the last 2 hours the story was so uninteresting. We saw that with Drakengard 2
It never was going to be Automata 2 because Yoko Taro doesn't do direct sequels and Automata doesn't need it,What it won't be:
nier automata 2
Oh yeah I definitely agree with you, I just keep seeing people elsewhere assuming that this morning's stream means that well see 2B/9S again and I'm like..........we've *already* gotten followups to automata with concerts and rein.It never was going to be Automata 2 because Yoko Taro doesn't do direct sequels and Automata doesn't need it,
You mean like Octopath 0?Wouldn't it be funny if the new Nier was just a rebranded NieR Reincarnation? But remade as a console game.
Retooled as a Console type experience so in a sense yes like Octopath 0. Though I was thinking instead of the turn-based system Reincarnation had it would just be turned into a Action Adventure game with character swap mechanics that happens seamlessly midfight. You mean like Octopath 0?
I wouldn't mind see Nier Reincarnation fully remade from ground for consoles up but still tells the same story.Retooled as a Console type experience so in a sense yes like Octopath 0. Though I'd take Reincarnation in any form tbh. I really wish they had an offline version of the game like Capcom did for MMX DIVE.
As Taro has said he goes through many projects and they tend to get canned or scrapped mid development so to a degree I think he defaults to new characters or settings since that would require lower investment.I wouldn't mind see Nier Reincarnation fully remade from ground for consoles up but still tells the same story.
But don't Taro will be interested in type of project….he will far more interested making new Nier/Drakengard or brand new IP.
It's pretty clear they have two choices, if they want to push sales, 2B will be in the next game, if they want the poor sales like every other game in this series, make it with new characters. The Replicant remake proved that 2b, was, is, and will always be why Automata sold so well. I love these games, but she is the face of Nier at this point and there isn't a close second.Oh yeah I definitely agree with you, I just keep seeing people elsewhere assuming that this morning's stream means that well see 2B/9S again and I'm like..........we've *already* gotten followups to automata with concerts and rein.
And then with Geoff's retweet I'm just like UGH NO.
Been playing this recentlyplay the Nier Replicant remaster.
you gotta know however that the game expects you to do multiple playthroughs, as some elements change each time.
and some endings aren't as straight forward to get.
Not saying I don't agree with you (because i do) but I think it's more than 2B. Yes, she's insanely popular but that's because of Squeenix's aggressive push to shove her into every collab imaginable. SEX sells and I trust them to create someone new. Rep1.22 was never gonna sell like hot cakes, it wasn't as flashy as Automata, it didn't have that Platinum shine. And while 2B is the most popular, I think Emil might be up there too. The face is in all marketing and Taro is never seen outside of it.It's pretty clear they have two choices, if they want to push sales, 2B will be in the next game, if they want the poor sales like every other game in this series, make it with new characters. And you get porn with it. Lots of porn. This is what happens when your main character is hot.
If you mean Automata 2 you not gonna get that and frankly it doesn't need it....Automata's story wrapped up pretty nicely.Real sequel, please.
Say's "Automata" very specifically. The company has made a lot of money on 2B merchandising, character crossovers, and that like. The game has good word of mouth, endless cosplayers, influence across other games, and has cemented itself as a cult hit. 2B will be back, and I imagine the next game is going to a get big push as a tent pole Square Enix release.
I can only speak from my own experience..........FUCK YES!Is this game any good? How is the Switch version? My experience with S-E franchises is largely limited to just FF and DQ.
Imo, just go with the flow of the game. Guides will spoil the story for you.Alright, question for those who are into this game:
I have always wanted to get into Automata. Finally started it recently and got up to the robot village. Talked to everyone there and I'm just past that doing some exploring before I put it down for a bit.
I know nothing about this game. I haven't read or heard any outside info. Should I just keep playing and take it as it presents itself to me, or is this a game I should look at a guide? I heard there are multiple endings. I'd like to push myself to see all the content it has a and really dig in, but I don't know if it's the thing where they don't guide you and assume you'll talk with other players or reference a guide to figure it all out.
I'm just looking to have the best experience I can with it.
fuck yeah.Just saw that whatever bug for switch 2 has been patched.
