He didn't shut down shit, I like yoshida but the data tells us different that Sony themselves released. He's trying to piss on my head and tell me it's raining fortunately for people that understand data and can read we know very well that PC ports did hurt the PlayStation 5. Anyone that has common sense know if you bifurcate a player base move revenue from one platform and put it towards another is a negative to the initial platform. If you have $5 and you have to split it with another individual it's a negative to you lol. The money made on PC was only 2% and has been declining ever since they started porting games to the PC.
Source: your ass.

Clearly the Rockstar model works.
Becoming fully 3rd party with no platform / hardware / store? They would need an IP at the level of GTA, which they certainly don't have.

For now they are making money on third party games and are losing money on their first party games. So I don't think they'll ditch their Playstation and store yet.

No I meant keep your games on console and release on PC few years later .

They just think they should be clearer about dates.

For example, in a game advertisement, they could say:

Ghost of Yotei will be released for the PlayStation 5 on October 2, 2025. We will be releasing it for PC sometime in 2026, stay tuned.
They won't do that because they know people will wait until the PC release

As a Sony fan I don't really care if games are multiplatform at the end of the day, but it really doesn't seem like a great business decision after we've watched MS completely destroy their ecosystem over the last decade. I think a lot of people around here confuse objective takes for console warring and just make it a Sony vs MS thing when it comes to these decisions rather than looking at the whole picture.

If Sony went day and date on PC I'd certainly consider going back to PC expecially with things like Bazzite and the MS Xbox full screen experience coming along. Not having exclusives is a sure way to destroy your ecosystem, that's why most of us are against it. You need brand differentiators to market these things.
Especially when you look at some of the most revered games/franchises in history

Mario
Uncharted
Last of Us
Halo
Gears
Killzone
Forza
God of War
Etc…

Common denominator? EXCLUSIVES

It gives the platform holder a reason to show off their tech, optimize for one platform and build their name

Said it a bit ago, there are real chances games like Intergalactic and other giant games won't be profitable, games that are made in USA and are exclusive are risky AF.

This said, it doesn't NEED to be since it's not simply made to make money but to sell consoles, which will make money from other sources.

Judging by Santa Monica's announcements or leaks with 3 GoW separate remakes, spin offs etc, or Insomniac/Guerilla i guess their strategy will be to find IP's that sell well and just focus hard on these, with more remakes/spin off to not waste 6-7 years per game

PC gamers who make the unlikely choice to buy a PS5 to play Intergalactic or any first party game for that matter, they're not going to be paying for Plus, they're not going to be buying third party games there, they're not going to be investing in the ecosystem at all. In which case Sony might as well just sell the games to them where they already play.
