[Rumor] Steam Controller Price Leaked. $99

Remember when controllers were like $20
I do. Gas was $0.89 a gallon, so I guess just about everything has gone up about 5x since then.

Is there any showcase, or review about how the trackpad works in games? If it has advantages over the analog sticks then that's interesting, otherway easy pass

No Thank You Reaction GIF

I had the first steam controller, but don't see any need to get this. A lot of games that before only had mouse+KB now have proper gamepad support so touchpads aren't as necessary.

Steam Input is also a lot better than it was when the first controller launched.

So yeah, I don't need touch pads so I don't need this.

What type of sticks does it have?
Edit: TMR. Nice, then yeah it might be worth that.
8 bit do has these for 60 bucks

To me it's 15-20 bucks more than a PS5 controller (usually 80-85) or 30 more than Xbox.

So on that front I get additional back buttons, the trackpads and the capacitive touch gyro and a battery that isn't ass.

For me it's worth it but I understand it also not being many people.

I mean at bare minimum there's a correlation in that the controller is included with the Steam Machine and the higher the price of the controller the higher the price of the Steam Machine.

Also, I think it's reasonable that he is assuming that since Valve isn't trying to price the controller low that they won't with the Steam Machine either (though I think this has been a given for awhile now).
Ps5 controllers are 85 dollars m8

I'm really surprised at how many people want this thing. Looks like a box of cramps to me.
Not really into symetrical sticks but the bit below where your hands sit look significantly larger than the usual controllers. Depend on the actual size of the thing i guess.

Trackpads alone make it worth it imo. Playing stuff like StS2, Mewgenics, Civ, etc feels like such ass on a regular controller. On Steam Deck it's fine with the track pads.

Standard PC Gaming prices amirite 👀

Meanwhile, Sony sells a $200 controller that doesn't even have hall effect sticks. 👀

I'd expect an announcement next week. People aren't going to review it more than a month before it ships. At this point, there are no signs that the Steam Machine is also ready.

It's not bad of a price compared to regular controllers prices Sony and MS scam people with.

It has way more into it and I believe it has TMR if I am not mistaken too

My Xbox controllers were below 40, and the PS5 ones were around 50, not counting the ones that came with the console.

Day 1. There are slightly cheaper options like new gullikit max controllers, but its valve, so you know its gonna be quality anuway

official ps5 controller are 60$ to 70$ depending on the color. you buying it for 40 or 20 or for free is not the retail price for it.

Also, this controller is more advanced than the elite controller, which retails for 160$ 170$ ( and still a scam btw with the use of normal sticks. they even have the audacity to tell you the sticks will break and we will charge you 20$ for more sticks but now its easy to replace your self, how about fuck off and shove it?).

So No, this price is more than fair for it. and honestly knowing Steam build quality, a much better value too.

I'm too used to the controller thread where people know what they're talking about and people aren't there to troll or console war. This thread is like a whole different world.

I liked the original Steam Controller, but it was too flawed to be a primary controller. This fixes so much and offers more than the original, so to me it's well worth the money.

Just like the original Steam controller, I'll buy it ASAP just out of curiosity. The original wound up being too weird and I eventually just threw it out.

I've tried a bunch of different controllers on PC and always come back to the standard Xbox controller. I usually get about 2.5 - 3 years out of them before something breaks. Walmart had a 2 pack on sale a while back, so I bought that and still have one unopened.

New Steam controller looks great. Hopefully it's reliable. Any word on release date yet?

For a PC controller you must ceartanly consider the vast market of premium Chinese brands and constant promotions on products like Apex 4/Apex 5.

I love Deck touchpads (really, really), but $99 is kinda of a hard sell without even the headphone output and this ugly puck.

Will still buy one cuz I collect this stuff, but still.

I may or may not have used this controller already. And I may or may not think it's extremely comfortable and versatile, and probably worth the price tag.

Hear that Valve? No NDA broken.

Considering the likely build quality and features, $99 is a fair price TBH. Especially if it doesn't have the stick drift issue of standard PS5 and Xbox controllers.

I don't think there's any correlation.

If you want a shit controller, pay a cheaper price. Cost of materials even for things like high-quality controllers have gone up, especially if Valve are avoiding things like stick drift which are common with Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo standard controller products.

It has similar functionality to a DualSense Edge or Xbox Elite controller, but comes in cheaper, and it's not terribly more expensive than a DualSense. Some of you don't seem to have any realistic perspective on pricing relative to the quality of things, unfortunately.
100% if it's higher quality than all that shit of course it's going to cost more.
