I mean, sure, I'll give it a try since I made the mistake of buying the deluxe edition a couple of months ago...

Finished NG2 Black on master ninja the other day and upon firing NG4 up again i couldn't believe how much worse the whole thing is - the suck to target especially is H O R R I B L E since you're basically sliding /teleporting to enemies with almost zero input, fuck me it's bad...

NG2 remains one of the best character action games ever, NG4 on the other hand...it's literally a Platinum games title (and not one of their best ones) and the worst ninja gaiden ever released (with the exception of the horribad NG Yaba).

1. NG4 has the best combat in the series
2. Suck to target is overblown by TEU, and he was debunked so hard, he's gonna have to pretend Ceigar's response video doesn't exist

Nice! I've still got the game installed and I've been looking forward to this.
One week from today!

I haven't played the base game, bought deluxe edition... will probably snatch this up as well and maybe play it in a year or two haha

Seems like a substantial DLC, 3 missions should be ~ 2 hours of new levels to run through.
100 floor bloody palace takes 2 hours if you are a "master ninja", so lots of replayability there to get gud
Then there are some new trials, returning enemies for fans, perhaps they will throw in an old boss for good measure? Definitely looks like there are new bosses (like the two fiends seem to be a boss)
Overall looking forward to it and for $15 seems quite good. I suspect this was meant to be part of the original game because of limited Ryu and backtracking, things felt a bit incomplete.

That's cool, I'd be up for more.

Ninja Gaiden 1 Black is still apex prime, 4 is my second favorite, and 2 I got problems with but it's still alright.

Razor's Edge and Yaiba belong in the 3D trashbin though.

See Durin, I used to think the same about Razor's Edge but finishing it recently for the third time changed my mind, this game is pure Ninja Gaiden - ten times more than NG4 will ever be. Once you know your combos, which attacks chain into easier dismemberments, how to chain steel-on-bones with Ultimate Techniques like a maniac, it becomes an entirely different beast, ALMOST on par with NG2 in sheer combat intensity.

The levels? Sure, nothing revolutionary and are still bland but still way better than those bloated, gigantic, lifeless arenas in NG4.

NG3 was a joke. Razor's Edge is a whole different beast...

For me, NG Black> NG2 > NG3 RE >>> NG4 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NG Yaba

This game seem more polarizing than any other game I've seen opinions on.

And it doesn't start out very well combat wise. They tried to ease the player into it but took to long. Very unlike NG 1 on xbox lol

I agree it's closer overall to Ninja Gaiden 1-2, but it makes changes that I find moment to moment sucks for me.

The interruptions for finishers or your punished, stops the flow of combat too often. 4 makes them optional so I'm in more control with better flow, the speed is higher, and I think the Bloodraven form for weapons just add more fun to the combat overall. About the only area where 4 flounders like Razor's Edge is level design weakness, and some meh boss fights. Razor's Edge fixes a lot from the initial trash version like having more than one weapon, but I think it's still built on a bad base, and I played it a few years ago.

Maybe I was being too simplistic to say that because I'd throw both in the trash, like Razor's Edge is as bad as Yaiba, because it is a better game by comparison to that.

Anyone else playing this? The new weapons are pretty cool. Just finished it.
It needs a little technical polish though. I had one crash early on and then during the second DLC boss fight my frame rate was really low like it was a bug.

First time they've done story DLC for an NG game?
Yep first time if you don't count the Sigma, Sigma 2, Razor's Edge updated games

My girlfriend likes this game, and persuaded me to buy the DLC. Why not I thought. Well I beat this DLC yesterday.

Its... okay ish. But for me not worth the 14,99 asking price. Maybe if you're into Bloody Palace gauntlets, and there are a dozen of new missions based on the new chapters.

The story was over before I realized. Its 3 chapters. What it does well is that its post game, so it assumes you have skills and a complete loadout. Because its significantly harder than the base game. Plus a new weapon for each Ninja which are okay but I'll get to that later.

The rain is gone, so it looks more appealing. Though occasionally you'll be warped to ugly looking yokai realms to fight groups of demons anyway. There are a few new enemies, although I think. And 4 boss fights but 3 of them are against the same one. I was actually surprised it was over? I fought that archfiend with Yakumo, then Ryu and then with Yakumo again and it was over. Okay?

So the new weapons.. well, I liked them enough to use them for 90% of the DLC. But something felt off, with Ryu I bodied everything and didn't die once. Even against the bosses. With Yakumo I probably died about 20 times total. I could barely damage bosses with him, and hated him again. Until at the last fight I just wisened up and used the Sword, and shredded the last boss pronto. Maybe I'm using his new weapon wrong, but the damage was pathetic. So if you struggle, try another weapon and you'll see the final boss isn't that tanky at all.

But Still the same issues; unclear IQ, ugly interface, non existent level design (just rooms with endless waves). The DLC boss is repetitive. It splits into 2 different personas but the fights feel identical.

The DLC bosses were pretty good. But overall its the kind of DLC you buy if you want to support the game and IP. Its a miracle we even got this game.. and it would be a miracle if we ever got another one...

Nothing beats Chadonobu Chadagaki's 2 masterpieces. In an alternative timeline he is still with us and made NG3 and 4
If I got a game with the level design and structure of 1, with the combat of either 2, RE, or 4, and the bosses of 4. I would be eating good...

I went back to 1 recently and while its an all time classic the combat kind of sucks now imo

Edit: I had a reply typed out, but never looked at your avatar. The moment I saw it was you I edited my post. Not going to have any form of conversation with you. Thank you very much.

This game tanked whatever goodwill and momentum the franchise still had, sales-wise included...

Now, watch them release a "Razor's Edge" or "Black" version at full price a few months from now just to squeeze whatever's left out of an already tiny fanbase. But honestly, I think this killed any real chance of getting another proper sequel/game altogether...

It's genuinely one of my biggest disappointments of 2025, right alongside Silent Hill f, which was an absolute turd.

Money definitely NOT well spent...

NG4 has all the P* quirks. Which means drab level design, low budget interface, slow mo gimmicks, annoying anime stereotype NPC (ridiculous designs like this General dude pulled straight from MG: R), suck to target.

I do like the cyberpunk OST and I think the setting could've worked if they went with some hi tech skyscrapers etc instead of meaningless caves and sewers. Ryu's model looks very good and he shreds. Its just too bad he isn't the MC (whoever thought Yakumo was a good idea should be fired) and he is limited to one weapon, though he's already OP as fuck as is. I do like how Ninpo is implemented.

Tecmo need to look at classic Xbox NG, or even the recent NG2B. In theory they could make a new one on this foundation. NG2B is far from the best, but its better and less repetitive than NG4.

Generally how I feel although I haven't played the dlc. It's a good game, but not the NG4 that I am looking for. For years I always thought MGR is what NG3 should have been and how we got it and I was definitely wrong, probably because how bad NG3 was.

To me Ninja Gaiden 4 even with all its flaws is a better moment to moment than Ninja Gaiden 3. It is not quite Ninja Gaiden though. DLC is sadly minimum effort.

better than NG3 isn't saying much lol 1 thing I think NG3 still has it better is the hit impact, I think this has to do with the engines difference. Like how 343 studio use a tweaked Blam! engine under the hood to retain the halo feel even when things like ADS sprint etc are added. Similar to a lot of the remake/remaster

The DLC was cool, but the game is so half baked. I played it once and I can't say it was better than the previous games. I'd rather go back to NG1&2B than play 4 again.

Their hope in making Yakumo the new Ryu makes it less of a NG game to me. I don't know if I care for it. It's so stupidly obvious what they want to gain with Yakumo. I actually thought Platinum made better games. I'm not overly impressed by their work with NG4.
