Ninja Gaiden 4 - Reviews Thread

Two hours in and I'm having a blast with it. It feels like ages since I've played good hack n slash games and getting NG2B and this in the same year is amazing.

I'll need to finish it first but it's definitely looking good right now.

Black looks better than this by far. Comparing it to Nioh games and Rise of Ronin is disingenous. They always looked likr ass including Nioh 3. How about death stranding 2, yotei and AC shadows? They are charging the same price after all. Also ass level design and repetitive enemies should have, you know, improved maybe? Like why is it considered normal if past games had that?
Measure this game in how much fun you had?

Or if it was a blast?

Will start it later today. Lets see how it goes.

Gaming in 2025: 8+ scores = 'decent'.
Of course we are fucked.

Really good scores, will play later today.
I still get fascinated by how numbered scores dictate people's thoughts as to whether they buy a game or how good it is.

Some people are really closed-minded and immature about this. "If its not above 90 then its bad/not worth it". Even something like a score average dropping into the 70s is enough to make them write it off.

Scores have never really mattered anyway. That especially applies more now than ever.

Pretty good reviews. I'll check it out tomorrow just to get a feel for it. I have several games backlog nearing completion that I want to finish first.

Can character action games even score over 90 anymore? Seems low to mid-80s is the best they can get these days.

No more 90+ like NGB, DMC, or Bayonetta 2.
I dunno, man. MGR rests at like a 80 average over at MC which imo is very unfair. Its probably in the top of the better 3rd person action games from the 7th gen which I would've put in the 90s range. But, again, that's just my view.

Also, keep in mind many current day reviewers aren't very skilled or versatile when it comes to these sorts of games. KT/Platinum probably felt the need to throw in the (automatic) hero mode to please exactly them otherwise it might've fared even worse, score-wise, for being too challenging. Most of them likely played on hero mode, unless anything else is explicitly stated or proven.

GT7 is not even close to being the best looking racing game. There are low budget developers delivering higher fidelity nowadays. The game was made for PS4 for fucks sake...
No other racing game comes close to the car models in gt7. The lighting and paintwork in gt7 is also unbelievably accurate and realistic and is class apart.

Gt7 is easily the best looking and most accurate( atleast in terms of graphics) racing game currently available.

It's has just been about fanboyism for a long time now, Platform , graphics, and competing series .. many types of fanboyism in play with scores.

But let's be honest real reviews haven't been. A thing since the early 90s.

8 from IGN

Ratings are weird, if its in it's own league for combat how is it an 8? Is it a case of slapped on shitty story that gets in the way? Isn't the target audience in it for the combat? I miss the days when scores had breakdowns for reasons like this.

That said, this probably isn't something I would usually play, but given the praise for its core gameplay, I may try it after Outer Worlds 2 and before Metroid.

That attitude has been around for a long time. I'll never understand it
There used to be a time when the scale of 1 to 10 (or 1 to 5, but same thing) used to be utilized fully. That was a long time ago. Nowadays, 8 is "pretty average" when actually 5 or 6 should be an average rating.
