If GAF is still around, I imagine I'll still be here.

On the other hand, I have no idea what I'll be doing 2 and a half years from now. Depending on whatever I actually end up having as a career could limit my visiting the site, as could the possibility of having a family (not that there's much danger of that happening, of course :p)

There's also the chance that GAF might become less entertaining over time. The atmosphere and dynamic of message boards can change, and if certain people leave and stop posting, and less interesting or more annoying people take their place, GAF might not be as addictive as it has been for the past few years.

I really doubt it. I've pretty much given up on gaming, except for quirky or big releases. I'm a total casual gamer now. Only reason I still visit GAF is for the OT.

Same here, but whether or not I'll stick around is up in the air, how am I supposed to know what I'll be doing in 10 years. I live my life one console life at a time.

For those of you who ever leave, do you think you would make a couple extra bucks selling your account on ebay?

some form of GAF could definitely exist ten years from now. But the key to its survival as we know it is the moderating. The mods weild their power with personality and humor and don't let things here go the way of gamefaqs. As long as this same level of moderation continues for the next ten years I see the heart of GAF continuing.

Besides how many incarnations of the forums have we seen so far?

And this is essentially the only place I visit on the internet. (Wow, I basically pay 40 dollars a month for GAF, supernova-tv shows only, of course-and email.) I couldn't imagine an internet without it.

I imagine when we carry PCs like headphones and project images through contact lenses and type using our minds, I'll be posting on neoGAF while teleporting to work.

I doubt I'll end up finding a better place for movie reviews, news stories, sales, and obscure music recommendations, so I'll probably be around for a while. At least for the mix exchanges.

This place is accountable for about 90% of my net time :lol, and I dont even post that much.

LakeEarth, your avatar is awesome :)

Awesome, Radiohead rocks!

To answer the question, I suppose if GAF's around, I'll be around :p I don't really visit any other sites anymore until I started coming here, it's crazy.

lemme tell you something son, this guy is SO FARKING HUGE HE'LL FLEX AND DESTROY THE SUN no shit
I think I'll still be here in some capacity. If things work out in the future like I want them too I hope I'll be able (if not it being advantageous for me) to post and chat with folks here and at other message boards.

I've already been here for five... I'd like to think that it won't get to fifteen.

At any rate, if GAF does exist in some form in 10 years, it obviously won't be on the same server or system it is today nor have the same people on either end... it might not even have anything to do with the current gaming-age frontpage. If it doesn't exist, which is probable, then people are probably just going to waste time elsewhere.

When did GA start up? I remember posting on the forums when it used to be a Thread styled forum, like Dave's Saturn Page. I think that was back in 97...am I right? So I've been posting for nearly a decade... :(

You've been around for way longer than 5 years, Hito. :p I know because I've been around for over 6 years now, and you were here before me, as Seijuurou (sp?). I lurked before I ever registered, so I know who was here before me. I said the same thing to Doug the other week when he said he was here since '99. I'm almost certain that he was posting here since at least '98 (as Castellan).

Most likely not, but I'll keep in touch with some people, I'm sure.

It's weird to think I've known people online for years, but I don't think of it as a bad thing. :)

July 1999*. That's when I first registered on UBB Gaming-Age. I started using Seijuurou during my initial stint as a shadow-mod on snowboards, the following incarnation, and used it throughout ezboards so I could have a global account.

*The fact that Opa was August 1999 helps me remember.

Wait, or was it 2000?

EDIT: Nope, checked goodcow's site. "Jul 99", opa was august, and evilore was september.

Hmm...interesting. Guess I was mitaken, then. I'm pretty sure you were posting here before I was for at least a few months, but I could've swore that I started reading/posting here sooner than 1-1.5 years after I got my first PC.

Either way, this place has been a great fun, if horribly distracting at times (most times, that is). :)

damn, the time just flies. I just realized i've been here since AT LEAST early 1999 (i remember being here for the DC launch) if not longer. I've been on the GAF longer than i was in high school!

Ummm.... guys, none of us will be around in the ten years. Those who manage to survive the great alien holocoaust will be on slaver ships mining spice in mucus body suits.

I don't see myself still postering here after 10 years. By then, I will hopefully have a family. My husband will probably think I am weird if he sees me posting here =P

I can't help but wonder if it will be because sometime in the future jinx will really pick up his monitor and smash it against the wall after reading a thread paticularly full of protofascism. After which he'll never visit the forum again. ;)

No way -- I like my monitor!

I have contemplated leaving the forums on a couple of occasions, though.

Through out my adult life, I've never stayed anywhere for 10 years, whether it be real or virtual and GAF'll be no different.

I hope not, I plan to be married with a kid by then, and hopefully doing ok in my career

....and posting on GAF using a different username.

Hard to believe I've been posting here for almost 6 years. That's more than half a decade. A Presidential term and a half...

I don't see why everyone hopes they're still not posting later in their lives. This place is incredibly resourceful and informative (at times :p) not to mention humorous. Sure it's addicting at times, but if you're busy for most of the day you won't be looking at it. I hope it lives for generations upon generations! LONG LIVE GAF
