1080 Avalanche = $19.99 @ gamestop.com

It's unfortunate so many people ignored this awesome game. In my opinion the sleeper hit of 2003 (I know most will say BG&E). But the sheer sense of speed is fantastic and it has a really great selection of well designed tracks. Even the LAN mode is worth taking a look.

This game is not worthy of the 1080 name IMO, it felt more like an SSX clone.

Give the franchise back to EAD or let SEGA give it a go.

Wow. You're just talking out of your ass now. For one thing, those that played both SSX and 1080: A know they are NOTHING alike. One is all about tricks, the other is all about speed and environment. And Sega? More ass talking.

The style of 1080:a is what im talking about. Art direction turned more bright, colourful and cartoony. Like SSX. Gameplay was much faster, like SSX. Game was trying to be more extreme and over the top, like SSX.

Didnt like what SEGA did with F-zero?

GOD! Can someone back me up here that has actually played the game? More colorful and cartoony? More like SSX? SSX gameplay fast? Trying to be extreme? UGH! Let's see, the fact that you can't get more than five or six feet off the ground at any given time in 1080 should clue you in that these two games share little in common save for snowboarding. And for the statement that 1080 was moving in a more colorful and cartoony direction? Lie. Complete and pulled-out-of-your-ass lie. 1080 used more realistic (photogenic in some places) environments while SSX is going for an extreme arcade approach. Don't think for one second that Avalanche was trying to be SSX. They games couldn't be more dissimilar.

Anyway, 1080 Avalance sucked... SSX 3 didn't suck. So that's that. I'll get this game when it's 4.99.

Play the game. They don't feel anything alike. Hell why not say Amped is trying to be like SSX? Or any other snowboarding game. And my god, just saying SSX is better than 1080 is just going with the flow. Most people that say that haven't even played Avalanche. Of course, I'm always forgetting the one crucial element; shamelessly bashing NST cause the designers all fucked over your childhood.

No, I'm pretty much bashing 1080 Avalanche because it sucks.

I'm also praising SSX3 because it does not suck.

See how this works, evilromero? Stick with me now.

I have SSX3 and played 1080 extensively and the two couldn't be more different. Their general reception and media perception couldn't be more different either. SSX3's flaws were completely overlooked and the game praised, while 1080s strengths went ignored. 1080:A is a racer with better track design than SSX3. SSX is and always has been a trick game. 1080 had detailed atmospheric locations while SSX had snow covered fun parks. People expecting 1080:A to be like SSX ended up dissapointed.
