1st Revolution pic

I love it. I couldn't have imagined a better design. It looks very un-nintendo.

edit - re. the specs, I'd wait for details. Nintendo really talked down GC's power too. I think it's best if we come to our own conclusions about it.

But if it can download games with it, it'd have to have some sort of hard drive, and surely it can't fit into that thing. Maybe one on the outside like Xbox360?

Since when is the FUCKING WIRE part of gripping a controller? Holy shit, you're nuts. Lord knows what other motor deficiencies you are victim to.

I grip the cord between my toes..stops my feet from falling asleep. I thought the wavebird was wireless though...?

I just woke up in UK so im having a field day with all the ps3 media but i thought I would chime in with an opinion on this 2-3 times more powerful thing:

If thats the case and the system sells for upwards of 200 dollars then the controller/visual display must be something NEW and very expensive.

So the hardware inside is relativley cheap but the controller is mega expensive. The interface is obviously the revolutionary aspect.

also.. how the hell do you slot load a gamecube disc in that?

With its front-loading slot for discs, it will play games on full-size DVDs as well as older GameCube games on mini-DVDs. Like Xbox and PlayStation 2, it will play DVD movies.

THERE IS NO CONTROLLER! You use your hands or something!

Kid 1: How do you play this thing?

Marty: I'll show you, kid. I'm a crack shot at this.

Kid 1: You mean you have to use your hands. That's like a baby's toy.

Marty (to himself): Baby's toy?

Haha, yes! :lol

oohh snap. Even better than the 360 design, and i like it more that the PS3 design. I didn't like the PS3 design at first, but it looks cool in black, and standing up.

if thats the case then they would absolutley have to show the controller

IMO they almost have to anyway at this point.. the ps3 was very impressive.

also after hearing these reminders about how much stronger ps2 and xbox where supposed to be than the GC, i'm growing more sceptical about these comparisons... even if it is weaker, it may prove to be fairly close.

Satoru Iwata ALWAYS MAINTAIN that he did not want to embark in the POWER race, he even once declared that the GameCube was going to be the final leaps forward for Nintendo (in terms of graphical improvement). How can you be shocked?!?

I got a Wavebird and am genuinely unhappy with it so shutup! There's 2 parts to controller grip. The handles and the wire. The handles are obivously where the hands go. But the overlooked part it the wire which helps keep controller position in check so you're not flailing the thing around all over the place. Get that wire between your knees or something and you got stability, it's sorta like those steering wheel controllers in a way. I won't even get into lack of rumble and all the problems that come along with being battery powered (rechargable or not).

You MUST be joking? :lol
That wire excuse is the dumbest... *sigh* it speaks for itself.
On average the Wavebird battery life is somewhere around long and "a shitload of time!". As for lack of rumble... welcome back from the future, lotto numbers and pics of the controller please!

*edit*
On the power difference... Didn't some Nintendo higher-up say a while back (probably around GC launch) that gaming didn't need more powerful systems? In which case consider yourselves lucky it's upped at all. :lol

*edit#2*
Ya, Laurent and I are on the same page. *nods head*

Assuming that nintendo is not being conservative with the revolution being 2 to 3 times more powerful then the gamecube, then they should be able to have a 2005 release date for the rev.

If that shot is anything to go by, that looks DAMN slick. This with the zelda pics have really given me a good feeling about Nintendo.

And for the 2-3X more power thing... who gives a fuck. When they announced the GC poly specs it was like 1/10 of that of the Xbox. The result? Games that look just as good, if not better. There are a million measurements to this power thing. God knows what they're using, but I have little doubt the games will look amazing.

So how many times more powerful is the PS3 then the PS2? GC was more powerful to begin with.

Sony's line is "35x more powerful than PS2", but in real world terms it's no where near that close I don't think. However, the difference between GC and PS2 doesn't even come close to making up the discrepancy if Rev really WAS 2-3x more powerful than GC. That'd put the system at... ridiculously weak specs.

It's just Nintendo being ultra conservative. They will impress, like everyone else.

14 for 360 and 35 for ps3 is insane and just so far fetched i am mind blown anyone actually believs it. 35 times would be more realistic then a damn movie filmed with real actors. there would NEVER be a need to upgrade from that console again . 2x3 times actually seems more real and even with 2x3 times you would already be better then toy story type graphics or finding nemo type. so again even 14 should look like real film in comparison. should being the keyword.

As far as the look of the Rev goes, i hope it is not dull grey like that and i also hope it does not just end up being a box. looks like an old school external hard drive or my old apple cd drive from ages ago. Also resembles old crappy modems as well. at least round some edges or corners and put a clear gloss plastic over it like a mac mini or something PLEASE.

anxious to see it's games.

LOL, the "2-3x" and/or "35x" thing does NOT mean how many times superior it'll look to the naked eye, silly. It's just how powerful it is compared to the old system specs. You're still right, 35x is ridiculous and I don't know how that number was come to, but 10x is not at all outrageous based only on specs. It's not like "OMG, 35x BETTER LOOKING THAN PS2" or something. :lol

Need to see better pics, but looks like being my favourite design of the three.

As for the specs thing, I'm going to wait until the conference.

someone here is trying to justify the lie of not liking wireless? Do you also hate high definition TV and cars that get over 15mpg? Seriously, there isn't a single disadvantage to wireless gaming, and it seems like all three will offer rumble in their wireless controllers next-gen. So it is a win/win situation (though MS gets EXTRA props for making a wireless/wired controller that recharges on the wire. that is just kind of slick).

I'm pretty sure this 2/3x more powerful thing could be compared to the whole polygon count situation of last generation.............. I mean from the video's I've been seeing of X360/PS3 I wouldn't say it's actually like some widely low figure. :-/ Nothing has really jumped out and said "I LOOK 35x BETTER THEN MY PREQUAL!".......... :-/ 2/3x better yeah, but 35x? :lol

So this pretty much confirms a hard drive. I mean, how else would you download Mario Sunshine? It's a little over 1GB, and no way it would fit on a memory card.

i guess it would have to be one of those small laptop hard drives.

edit// or maybe a RW disk drive?

No he didn't. What the hell, where?
You know, when he did his first speech about his next console. How graphics wasn't everything... I can't find it on Google since it's so damned old!

Either that or the disk drive is rewritable.

If she said it has 2-3x the 3rd party support of gamecube then wed all be singing a different tune.

Although that still wouldnt be much..

Well guess what, graphics aren't everything. That says nothing about how capable the rev will be. Just because Nintendo wants to push the idea of innovative ways to play games doesn't mean they won't also supply powerful hardware. The CPU and GPU are called broadway and hollywood for a reason.

You're totally wrong. Mr. Iwata very much appreciates graphics, but big bad graphics simply isn't going to be the thing that is going to attract consumers to the Revolution.

It's beautiful. Brings a tear to the eye that Nintendo has a machine that doesn't look like a toy... Let's see what it can do, and what about the controller?!

That design is hot. Hopefully the 2-3x more powerful is just Nintendo being conservative like it usually is with new hardware specs/comments.
