1st Revolution pic

Good to see Reggie made good on the claim that the new system WILL be sexy, +10,000 public perception. I also think the RevOlution thing ties into the 12cm/8cm disks.

Lookin' VERY good. How the hell did Nintendo's product designers fall down so badly with the DS?

We have officialy entered into another dimension. From now on anything is fucking possible.

I wish we could see the back of that thing. Then we can tell if it uses standard media cards like the PS3. Would be cool to see SD and Compactflash support, as well as a usb port or two. I'd love for this thing to have an internal or detachable HDD as well.

I think it does, on the top of the console above the Nintendo logo it looks like a cover can be removed, perhaps for a HDD. On the front below the slot drive there is a panel that opens up and that will be for media cards.

Hopefully the bottom of the Revolution has ports for add-ons, that would be cool if you could buy a GBA player type peripheral that doubles as a stand and has GBA slot in front.

Wow. Couldn't tell much from the smaller pics, but the larger ones look great. It's hard to believe that is a Nintendo system.

Impressive. Most impressive.

Good thing about Drinky is that even though he faults Nintendo a lot, he'll acknowledge they did something right

sexiest console ever

lets hope it looks good on the TV screen too ;)

Good freaking God that's all kinds of HAWT. HAWT HAWT.

HAWT.

I'm skeptical of the capabilities of the machine. I know it sounds stupid, but I just can't imagine it to be too powerful if it's going to be that tiny. Seems like Revolution sticked, though. I wonder what do the two discs in the logo mean. :P

Looks great. I'm betting the O and o are for the big disc and gamecube disc. I also think the little thing below the main dvd slot is a tray for gamecube disc.

Rock. On.

That looks very, very cool. Coolest looking console out of the whole bunch (PS3 doesn't look at that great to me with the whole Spidey font thing going on, 360, I haven't seen a real good pic yet). Man, Nin's conference will either rock the joint, or just really dissapoint. PLEASE ROCK NINTENDO!

Will Revolution use a projector to play games? The blue light in front of the system looks strange. No HDTV support.

That almost looks like you could install it as a drive into a PC. Where does the VR Helmet plug in?

I think you may be onto something here (sans VR Helmet). We've yet to see the back of this thing.

how will you be able to use that slot drive with the gamecube smaller cds?

THAT THING IS HOT SEX, Best console design of the show! well done nintendo, but how powerful can something so small be?

The PC-Engine did well for it's time :)

Wow, That is HOT!

Everything is going according to plan! Non Nintendo, blow me away with Rev games!

BTW the hi res pics have what appears to be a REVOLUTION logo. So the name stays. COOLNESS x 10000!

Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Xbox Live, that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game — from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshine. (Nintendo hasn't decided whether downloading will be free.)

Wait, what? I'm going to be able to download full Nintendo games from previous consoles?

Saru: I guess if the Gfx are a little better than Twilight Princess I won't mind
P: some people seems to think that twilight princess is runing on rev because of the high resolution.
Saru: what high resolution
Saru: OH THE NOES!!!!
Saru: you're right
Saru: that's Rev
Saru: that's why they know their tech will fit in that tiny thing
Saru: it's essentially a cube
Saru: and the quote says that
P: ?
Saru: it's going to be easy for devs
Saru: cause they just get more power
Saru: it's the same
Saru: that's it
P: please
Saru: that's why they are releasing TP now on Cube
P: don't make me cry
Saru: yes it makes sense
Saru: let me get that quote for you
P: do not make me cry please
Saru: damn I don't find where I read that
Saru: but it's the one that was talking about how the revolution was all about accessibility
Saru: for Devs
Saru: and for gamers
P: I think i read something like that.
P: dude, i'm so nervous
Saru: and they were comparing it a lot to the cube
Saru: and how it's easy cause it's the same
Saru: that they don't have to actually do anything
Saru: it's automatically more performance
Saru: that means that your cube games will be enhanced automatically
P: interesting
Saru: Rev games will essentially be cube games with the new interface
P: does that mean that i get to play RE4 all over again?
P: eternal darkness
P: metroid prime
Saru: yeah

If that's the case... MEGATON!

The only thing that would make that deal sweeter for me is if they'd release some imports that never got their US release back in the day, translated. (hint: Sin and Punishment) :D

I know Nintendo has been backpeddling on their original statement on what type of media it will play, but, if you look closely at the word Revolution on the system itself, the first O is bigger than the 2nd o. So I wonder if they are trying to say, it will take regular DVD and GC discs.....

Anyone have any other insights...

Hmmm, so it stands on its end, is black, and has a blue light....."think, think, think, hmmmm, where have I seen that before?"

It's alright, the only cool thing about it really is its size.

I think that games on DVD's is pretty much a given since it does playback DVD movies. One cool thing about Rev is that it's going to be one swank, sleek DVD player. Perfect for trips, or to bring to a friends house.

Wow. So many people want a console that blends into your room. This is it. The PS3 seems to be the most conspicuous of the consoles.

So, for the GCN games like Donkey Konga, do we buy wireless bongos?

Anyway, on the design of the system, looks cool, I kinda hope they have a design on top of it, though. One thing that'd be great if there were LAN parties for the system. That would kick so much ass.

PS3 = Lardass.

After reviewing all three new console designs, I'd have to say that I like Nintendo's the best. Nice clean lines. Looks small too. Can't wait to see the controller, and to get more information on the specs, online capabilities, games, etc.

Of course, I'm still not buying it. :)

Correction, one POWERFUL lardass. I still don't see how Nintendo can stick comparable tech in that small box.

Haha, same here. Still interested nonetheless.

Get....the.....feck...out.

:D J/K

OMG. Who would have thought that Nintendo comes up with the best looking console of all three?? Some thoughts

- Very, very PS2 like
- Size is a great factor in it's attractiveness
- However, geometric design is hot now - how about in the next years?
- If 2-3 x more powerful, dooomerderer

Disregarding the Spiderman font (that will change... right? Right?), PS3 has the most visionary design that I think will resonate in a few years. Revolution is the coolest looking today.
