Welcome to the cult! Please pick up your registration package containing IAWTP, IBL, and FHUTA forms. If you see DJ Demon J say anything bad about Nintendo, remember: say no, run, and tell an adult.

don't know if it was posted in this thread or not and i'm sure as hell not reading through all of these pages, but EGM gave Mario 64 DS 8, 8, 9 (it's on the 1UP site)

"Like the HL 2 review that talked about Halo the whole time"

Tsk. If you're going to nitpick (which is your god-given right as someone with an Internet connection, of course), at least try not to be myopic about it. The HL2 review had a single paragraph saying HL2's vehicles sucked in comparison to Halo 2's and was immediately preceded by a sentence saying Halo 2's AI was a bit better. Stick the review in a centrifuge and you're going to get about 3% Halo comparison by volume. 4% if you count the indirect bit where I said HL2 was the best solo FPS of the year.

Jeremy, you KNOW you're not supposed to talk to the kids. Here, lemme get you some swass pics.

Your tagline there is pretty nice, though.

Mario shooting hookers minigame = 10.0 GOTY. Maybe next time.

But seriously I have no problem with Nintendo's remakes/ports/whatever you want to call them. There is a generation of people who weren't alive when SM3 or even SM64 came out, and now they have GBAs and DSes. Would you rather they only have the option to play Cartoon Network licensed sidescrolling shit instead of Nintendo classics?

If you don't want to play the game again in a slightly different form, just don't buy it.

Quoted for truth. In fact, just tonight, I was on a bus, and this little kid, maybe 6 or 7 years old, was playing a GBA SP with Super Mario World and thought to myself, "Wow, when I was playing this game when it first came out, he didn't even exist". It's a good way for a lot of kids to experience a great game in a format that is more tolerant of it's age(portable as opposed to a dusty old N64, especially if they are spoiled by PS2/Gamecube/XBOX graphics).

I thought the review didn't focus on the game enough and criticized DS too much. That isn't a bad thing, Nintendo needs to realize that if developers are going to take advantage of DS' stylus screen appriately, it needs to show them that they can. Releasing a port as the DS' killer-app isn't doing this.

It's obvious that the DS launch was rushed, its launch lineup could've been a lot better. It's a shame, but if it gets a decent lead on PSP, it may have been worth it. I know I'm not picking one up until next year (probably around the time Hunters is released).

Nintendo should be ashamed of preaching innovation with the DS just to launch with an 8 year old port.

Well said.
