Was there any doubt?

Calling Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time a role-playing game wouldn't be entirely accurate. It's not a pure action game, it's not really an RPG...and it's not even an action-RPG. It's a successful blend of all these elements, proof that Nintendo does have some good ideas for the DS, and reaffirmation that the Mario Bros. are always capable of a big game, no matter how old they (or we) are.

To be my 2nd purchased DS game as of tomorrow.

damn, I don't have any money right now. I'll definitely buy it though.

Modojo gave the game 5/5... first review in the web.

All these other sites are dragging down its average, dammit!

I don't remember. I played the game at Nintendo's fall event but I can't remember the battle music. I WANT to say it was the same as the first M&L, but I honestly have no idea. I'll ask the guy that reviewed it tomorrow.

I hate RPGs, but I love Mario. Will a guy like me like it?
Well, it's not really your traditional RPG. I'm sure you already know this but the game relies much more on your reflexes than loading up on items and grinding exp for hours on end. If you have enough skill dodging and timing your attacks, you can defeat the final boss of Superstar Saga horribly underleveled.

I'll repost my 1st hour impressions on this thread too:

I'm about an hour in the game. Really really nice so far. Graphics, animations, and voices (the non-intelligible stuff from Superstar Saga :lol) are all a notch above the first game. What struck me about the use of the two screens is that it flows very well with what's going on in the game. The combat with the kids is fantastic! I haven't gotten the full hang of it yet (Shells and hitting the right buttons at the right time nets you crazy damage!) It does have a bit of an extended tutorial but I don't mind at all.

Yeah battle's very reflex-oriented, even more so than superstar saga and other mario rpg's. Breath of fresh air :) Battle music? Not very memorable, but I don't know if that's because I'm really concentrating on the battle or if the music is bad.

I was going to buy this game but with Animal Crossing only a week away my enthusiasm has dipped a bit. While I know it'll be a fantastic game I just don't feel like buying it. Especially after the awesome Mario Kart DS. Where do you go after something like that?

Speaking of which, I've tried a no-hit playthrough of Superstar saga. I was able to get quite far before screwing up.

i got the game.. suprisingly enough ive already busted out laughing at some of mario and luigis antics.. not to mention been awed by the graphical differences in this game compared to the GBA, on the shell it looks the same but on the inside the extra little things really make this a fine looking 2d game..

damn, if this keeps up i'll be playing nothing but my ds for the next few months. my consoles and psp weep!

on a side note, just tried mario kart ds online for the first time. it rawks! i got my ass handed to me for both matches, but i'm a mario kart n00b. in fact, this is the first mario kart i've actually owned. i'll add my friend code to that site demi put together and add some of you guys in. at the least, i'm an easy win lol...

yah, i'd play this game but somebody at the office snagged my copy.

can't wait to play this game though. first i need to finish C: DoS.

Holy shit. This game is fucking Awesome! I'm 5 hours in (we drove up to San Fransisco from San Jose - 1 1/2 hours in traffic each way). Those hammer bros are fucking classic!

EDIT: I busted out laughing atleast 3 times, and usually games can't do that shit to me. Hilarious game.
