Does anyone know if there is a way to check if a former employer is making negative comments to potential new employers? Also on job sites such as Hotjobs.com and other is there a comment section of some sort that a previous employer could post on and discourage other employers from hiring a potential applicant? Thanks.

Yeah, there is, sort of. Here's one:

Or Google "job references" and you'll come up with a bunch more. I think that's about as close as you're going to get, though.
