Not sure if you're just pokin fun at the constant jabs at the UK's shitty taste, but lemme just say:

Japan's shitty taste (barring some minor exceptions)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Amerikaa and Europe's shitty taste

Pokemon is it's own publisher?

Yep. The Pokemon Company. Nintendo created it so they could handle all the publishing and shit.

Magic Box also has number of games released per platform, even though not in the top 100.
Code:
PS2 651	PS2 (52.5%)
GC 50	GC (5.6%)
Xbox 42	Xbox (0.3%)
Xbox 360	9	Xbox 360	(0.2%)
GBA 110	GBA (7.5%)
PSP 106	PSP (12.6%)
DS 107	DS (21.2%)
Other 9	Other (0.2%)
Wow, PS2 sure gets a lot of games. :/

Patently untrue. Animal Crossing didn't sell near that number in the US or EU -- Japan loses the taste wars by default.

Not a single Xbox/ Xbox 2 game.

Question to Microsoft: why do you even try & care?
Wasn't DoA4 only 60K on the Famitsu charts? That's half of what number 100 sold.

These numbers are fuckin pathetic. Good Dreamcast games would sell 300k in their sleep back in the day in Japan. The industry here sucks.

(Goes back into cranky old man closet)

Are you confusing the DC with something else?

Because people (outside Japan) actually care about japanese games? We all know the japanese devs are as motivated to create a great game when they know they won't sell in their home country.
You really are on a roll with the Xbox/Xbox 360 these days Borys (not especially this topic, in general)

I'm sorry but that's an infinitely more exciting and dynamic chart than the 2005 offerings from UK or US.

Mr gates:Becuase our long term goals are not affected by a poor launch in one market or being ignored by japanese gamers for couple generations borys,i have all the resources and dedication to win in the long run.

Hey, Mr Gates, another Qs 4 U:

- define long run. 5, 10, 15 years? Infinity?
- same tactics as with Windows? [from an unusable POS to something almost ideal? (1.0 --> ... --> 3.1 --> ... --> 95 --> ... --> XP)]

you know it's even sadder that DQ8 sold a million fewer copies than DQ7 ;(

mr gates: Well(scratches his head) we became no2 in this business in our first try Borys ,not bad i say. For the next gen, every analyst in this business agree that we gonna expand our user base and finally be profitable....You see, i see this videogame business more than just selling hardware, games and making money, it's a key battleground for competing technologies and media content , i can't just let sony dominate...(sips his coffee) if they try.....i'll kill them(imitates kutaragi) ha ha haa. It's alll good in da hood, my os business is making more money than i can ever spend , who cares if i lost coule of billion, i can take it, my personal charity gave away 10 billion since 2000. Look at sony they are financially a mess despite ps/ps2 being enormously sucessfull in videogame business, look at all those big name software companies; merging, going out of business, being bought out....i'll be here borys,i'll be waiting for my time to shine, it might be in 4 years, in 8 years, in 12 years...i don't care, i can wait, i can wait (laughs histerically)

MS isn't #2 if you take handhelds or even profitability into account

They are #2 in market share, which is the only thing that is important to the fanboy armies

One non-Japanese, Western developed game out of a hundred!!!

Holy shit! Didn't GTA:SA do fairly well? Wow, the Japanese HATE American games.

It hasn't come out yet in Japan.

And the fact that DOA came out after 12/25/05

I am surprised GT4 didn't sell more. I am surprised that number one barely broke a million in a year. Population of Japan is 130m so it is not that small of a market.

Yes I would prefer a top 100 filled with Madden and NBA Live. American taste is just so fuck awesome/sarcasm

Thanks Verplant for your topic, especially cause you also wrote LTD sales.

So i had a lucky weekend: thanks to GAF on Friday i found again Shrine of Data old site and i was able to update all N64 numbers, today i updated some titles in DS, GBA and GC chart.

By now probably it's the most accurate Famitsu chart on the net for Nintendo systems in Japan (I'm sorry i did not a similar job like Shrine of Data did, but really takes a lot of times).

When did I say Americans have better taste?

I think we should all agree that - overall - everywhere around the world has shit taste in gaming and "our" taste is far superior.

:D

At least some country in the world has decent taste in gaming. There are a few flops on there like Star Fox Assault or Pokemon Dash, but it could be worse. 50 Cent: Bulletproof could be on there, for example.
