What settings, and what kind of card do have if you don't mind my asking?

It's kicking my 570 Twin Frozr's ass right now (I feel like that's to be expected, especially with the texture pack). 670 is in my future for sure...

All I've got is quality ambient occlusion + SMAA + FXAA because downsampling is a PITA to get working and nothing else works.

Yes, I'm stacking two post-process anti-aliasing solutions.

Yes, it works. Barely, but it works.

I've got a GTX 580 3GB. As for in game settings, for the sake of screenshots I have everything maxed (including AA), but normally I play with everything maxed except for AA, which I have set to normal, and I get a solid 40-50 fps at 1440p. I have also thrown in some injected ultra SMAA just to clean things up that extra little bit.

Yeah, so I'm guessing it's those 3 GB to my 1.25 that's doing me in a bit. I've just started the game and had to turn AA down to whatever the medium setting is ("high," I think) to get rid of some insane FPS drops (I was between 18-25). I'm in the 40s now but it still feels so choppy. I already had plans to upgrade, but this'll likely spur me on. Being the gfx whore that I am, I can't live w/ the knowledge that my system isn't up to spec, lol.

Damn, Planetside looks fun.

Your comment (and all of these screens) reminded me about the beta's existence and sent me off in search of a key...

...and I found this Reddit post made about 11 hours ago that talks of a site that's giving away free keys.

I tried it...it worked...and I'm downloading now.

You guys might want to do the same.

Thanks for the heads up, it worked. :D

There seems to be some serious hyperbole on how good Dark Souls looks on GAF.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

For me, the art is gorgeous, the scale of the game is jaw dropping, and the lighting, while technically inferior to high-end PC games, is incredibly well done.

While the lighting in The Witcher 2 (or alternatively, Crysis 2) may be more technically advanced than Dark Souls, I feel it is badly applied by comparison, and I feel Dark Souls is the better looking game as a result of this.

How does one do that?

BF 3 - 1/2

These are multiplayer maps, right? I'm assuming it was spruced up a bit for the screenshot?

Not spruced up at all. The Close Quarters maps actually look like that

They do look exceptionally sharp, though. Especially the one with the M9 - I don't think my game has ever looked that clean even on the CQ maps.

Yeah those maps do actually look damn nice. I'm using downsampling from 3200x1800 so the game is actually that sharp when playing, getting to use actual AA in bf3 makes the game look so much better than the useless options that it has in-game.

I tried using an FXAA injector for BF3 once and while it did make the game look really nice, I'm 99% sure it fucked with the hit detection somehow because I had 3 of the worst rounds I've literally ever played after I installed it.

Whoa, those Syberia shots look amazing. Is it limited to a small resolution? I own both Syberia and Syberia 2 and never tried them...

*edit* Apparently the screen resolution for Syberia is locked at 800x600, that makes me sad. Presumably because of pre-rendered graphics. I wonder if there's any way to scale. I love the architecture and world design.

Yes, that's the reason. Are you asking if it's upscale to the panel resolution? Yes, it does. And you can apply AA to smooth up the realtime elements. At 1900*1200 is not offensive to the eye. The game mechanics so far are nothing extraordinay but it has a relaxed inviting pacing and the universe concived here it's full of charm and style.

The game lends itself to short burst of playthroughs so it can complement your gaming diet with more heavy stuff. So it's worth the time.

Edit: Impressend by Planet Side visuals, but what's up with the empty shots?
