2013 Microsoft E3 Conference

Overall, this conference was actually pretty solid. Price doesn't even seem that unreasonable to me. Only big missteps were awkward canned dialogue and one of the worst tech issues I've seem at E3.

However, it will still be hard to get over the Always On stuff.

I thought the conference has gone well enough. Losts of games and stuff to look at. Just not super stoked on much. A ton was 3rd party and not exclusive.

Spark looked interesting. Ryse looked like it could be as well, hopefully not as QTE heavy as whats' been shown.

Price is higher than I thought it would be.

I have to say that MS delivered on the games. Goddamn it's literally just game after fucking game. I'm still processing it all, but I will admit that only a handful of it appealed to me. Some of it even looked samey. I thought Deadrising 3 looked terrible, aside from the coolness of having that many onscreen enemies. That shit artstyle looked so bland, damn. Titanfall, W3, MGSV, Quantum Reach, and Ryse is all I can remember that impressed me. $499 though, so yeah... I'm gonna wait to see if Sony delivers.

A shitload of new exclusive IPS is not enough to convince me to buy the thing considering its relatively expensive console with invasive DRM.

499 dollars, can't even imagine what that equates to in AUD. In short, FUCK THAT.

Titanfall on PC for me. That's literally the only thing I took away from that.

Looking forward to having a pet rock, annoying my friends talking about the CLOUD, and paying $500. They didn't answer my main question, though. Will the xbone allow me to watch TV shows on my TV?

I liked Ryse, Halo and found Quantum Break interesting. Some other games are decent but not worth of five hundred euros loaded with DRM and anticonsumer policies.

Good conference because they showed a lot of games. On other side, none of the exlusive looked that amazing visually. Titanfall looked most fun. Quantum Break looked best but that was cutscene. That price reaction lol.

bones. I'm sure PS4 will be the same or more.

Not sure how people thought it would be cheaper.

This will probably be the first console in memory I don't buy on launch day unless something changes my mind, just so pissed at the policies surrounding it.

BF4 looks amazing, but I'm sure it was running on PC. It stuck out like a sore thumb from the other games.

Titanfall looks great as well.

To be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed by 'next-gen graphics' on both the Xbox and PS side. It seems like there should be a bigger leap than this.

One of the best E3 conferences i've seen, BF4 and TitanFall looked good, but other than that i wasn't really impressed much. The price is absolutely horrible though, the £429 is no where near the US price of $499 - definitely a US centric console.

Nothing amazing. Man MS needed more.

When MGS5 started I thought if this is exclusive they got me hook line and sinker.

Nope.

Not enough MS not enough.

Great conference by Microsoft. Need to hand it to them...it really was about games.

- Phantom Pain looked amazing
- Ryse was beautiful but shallow
- Sunset Overdrive looks like it could be great
- Project Spark has potential, but I'm skeptical
- Bellow looks great, though we saw very little of it
- Twitch.tv partnership is huge. If Sony doesn't get Twitch it could be pretty devastating, if streaming is going to have the impact I think it will next gen.
- 60fps being a selling point for BF4 and Halo is good news.
- Price is higher than expected. Could be trouble for MS.
- Titanfall was the highlight of the show. Very open ended combat, tons of mobility...what most people on GAF have been asking for in a shooter.

further and further into the hole.

As a conference it was exactly what I wanted to see - games and discussion of the way the console interacts with them, and very few gimmicks. I hope the trend continues. Not really interested in many of the titles displayed personally but I'm glad they at least attempted to put gamers first for this event.

Crazy disappointing so far. Sure, they've probably shown more games than any conference before, but they're all so lackluster to me. MGS 5 and Witcher 3 looked really cool, but both are multiplats. Crimson Dragon was probably the only exclusive that I'm interested in. It's kind of sad that they can have a 90 minute conference of basically just games and disappoint me with all but a handful. I can see how it might be worth $499 to some, but not to me with those boring ass titles.

I'm happy for Killer Instinct and VERY happy for Witcher 3 (which I'll get on pc though) but.... besides Dark Souls 2, where are the Japanese developers!?

They successfully made me confused about which games were exclusive and which ones weren't. Need a list or something to see what you're actually passing up if you skip Xbox One.

Overall this was pretty underwhelming for me. A few of the games look nice, but not much truly grabs me as a must have title.

Will be interested to see what Sony comes in at for price. Wasn't intending on getting Xbone anyway, but this really doesn't tell me I absolutely must have it. Ignoring all the DRM stuff for a second, which by itself killed any interest already.

Nothing special for me personally, I like that there seem to be more 60fps games, hopefully this is the only thing Sony will copy next gen.

Graphics... most games looked last gen with better image quality. Dat 1Tflops of performance, Xbox One-Tflops?

Price killed it for me.

PS3 was $600 and £425
Xbone is $500 and £430

Fuck you Microsoft.

Yes, I'm particularly confused about TitanFall which they explicitly called exclusive but I thought the Game Informer leak listed as PC. Did MS just straight up lie on some of these?

Walruses, camels, bears, rabbits, tigers and badgers.
TitanFall, Below, Metal Gear V, and Witcher 3 all looked amazing. Ryse was gorgeous looking as well but the gameplay looked very questionable. BF4 was the "best-looking" game but it looked the play exactly as the old ones.

Forza 5 had some awesome promises but we will see how that plays out. Dead Rising 5 was impressive at points and lacking at others. I have no idea what Quantum Break actually is and Killer Instinct looks good but I'm not a big fan of the series. Halo teaser was neat, but no gameplay. Spark was promising I guess.

Nothing to convince me to spend $499 over and get a Xbox One over the PS4, but I'm sad that I'm going to miss out on some great-looking exclusives.

I think this is the first time I have not been able to judge a conference on its own merits. It was a good conference to be sure. Focused, fast and action-packed. Open issues notwithstanding, I need to see what Sony is going to do before I can render a real verdict on this conference. What I can say is that there were a handful of games that would make the Bone a potential launch purchase. I will buy one regardless but whether I wait out in the cold to get one day one is really the issue for me. I makes no bones that I lean Playstation just because I don't like MS's smoke and mirrors, paywall, buy favor approach to the gaming industry but much like shopping at Walmart and buying goods fromChina, I want what I want and put aside intangible gripes if that is the best option.
