Line up: Courtois, Alderweireld, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, Witsel, Dembele, Chadli, De Bruyne, Hazard, Lukaku
Not a bad starting line-up.

Yeah. I really hope Klinsmann adjusts our attacking formation somehow to account for losing Altidore. Once he went down, the attack mostly fell apart, and I wouldn't see that changing much against Portugal if we keep the same lineup (but playing Johannson, of course). I almost want to see Zusi starting to give us a better possession game, though I don't know who he would replace without sacrificing a lot of defense.Ghana is clearly better at attacking right now, Altidore might not be a world class striker (lol) but he's our starter for a reason. He was the best we had available. I wonder if Wondalowski gets a start in the next game, Johannson could be the future but I don't know if he's physical enough yet to handle it. Klinsmann did a great job with subs last night, John Brooks and Zusi were great choices. Brooks had a couple missteps defensively, but as he settled in he made some good plays.
Germany is undoubtedly awesome, but I didn't see anything out of Portugal to tell me that they can dominate the rest of the group. If anything, they should be very worried. They couldn't put anything together offensively and they're down a starting defender, plus they had to run their asses off the last game.
I think it's inevitable that the U.S. will win a World Cup within the next 30 years. The sport is gaining a lot of popularity here and more and more parents will put there kids into soccer.
We're a country of 300 Million with the possibility of the best training and facilities in the world.
BTW how did China a country of 1 Billion not make the World Cup?

At last a team with a few Tottenham players. Hope Bentaleb starts for Algeria.

The story was almost too good to be true. John Brooks, a 21-year-old centre-back who had never played in an official game for the USA, coming off the bench to score an 86th-minute winner in their World Cup opener against Ghana on Monday night. So improbable was it all that ESPNs commentator, Ian Darke, promptly exclaimed: He couldnt even have dreamt it.
Except, Brooks had done exactly that. Two days earlier, to be precise.
Yeah, its unbelievable, said Brooks after the game. I said I had a dream, I told some team-mates that I dreamed that I had scored in the 80th minute and we won the game. Now it [turned out to be] the 86th minute and we won the game, so that was good.

Sure, but that one was especially bad from a guy who is paid pretty well to do better than that.
When pro athletes make really bad plays on a big stage, they tend to get mocked pretty heavily. Hell, the Butt Fumble has a more detailed page on wikipedia than many of the players in this World Cup.
African teams have had a lame tournament , lets see Argelia
Argelia is a Portuguese and Spanish term for Algeria
ESPNs broadcast of Team USAs World Cup match against Ghana on Monday night averaged a 7.0 overnight rating. This was the first time out for the U.S. side during the event and saw the men face off with the team that has eliminated them at each of the past two World Cups. ESPN says the U.S. 2-1 victory reps the highest overnight rating ever for a mens World Cup match on ESPN or ESPN2. (The network started receiving local ratings for the World Cup in 1998.) The top five metered markets were Washington, DC (11.8), New York (10.2), Hartford-New Haven (10.1), Boston (10.0) and Columbus, Ohio (8.9). ESPN says Bostons score is the highest overnight ever in the market on any network for the mens World Cup.

I have zero stats but it seems to pretty pretty popular here in Southern California. Portland and Seattle also have good reputations for their MLS crowds.Where abouts in USA does soccer get the most attention? i dont think i remember you guys being that hyped for soccer sports a decade ago.
