Best bet for USA is to just bunker down and not take any risks even when the game is 0-1 to Germany, because chances are that will be enough for qualification.

The thing is that the second game often seems to be the hardest for Germans and then they really start to roll. Not only that, the difference in skill level, big game experience and just team cohesion in general is almost insurmountable.
