2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

Is it playable looking like that? OMG at AC - Unity too. This thread is something else.

Yup, though the framerate varies a lot. 60fps generally, but it dips, sometimes to 30-35 at the absolute lowest, in busier areas like the Strip and Freeside, as well as areas created by modders with no consideration for performance (e.g. the Atrium in Project Brazil). Also, I turn off DOF during normal gameplay, but even when it's on, there doesn't seem to be a huge performance impact. Only real performance issue I have is the fact that the framerate tends to degrade over time, but I'm fairly sure this is a symptom of the godawful engine more than anything else.

This one is a test using AutoStitch.

I really dont' like how the default scale is set to scale to some arbitrary size without telling you the resampling method. Or that the default JPEG quality is 9. /100 (Only lets you use 99)

They look good, but if you want complete control over what you're doing, I use Kolor Autopano Giga and it's fantastic. Microsoft's Image Composite Editor is very good too and even better at manipulating angles and points of view, but often has a bit more distortion than Autopano Giga's generated images.

AutoPano Pro/Giga are great. A cool feature they have is they're able to write 'GPano' XMP tags, which enables you to view 360x180 degree or partial panoramas on an Android device which uses the accelerometer. That way you could have a 3D look into game screenshot panorama's :)

Are star citizen and elite dangerous similar in gameplay?

What is the gameplay like for that matter? Does it involve gunfights etc? They both look so good in these screens.

I can't speak for Star Citizen, as I've yet to play it. Elite is posited as a space trading/exploration/combat sim, but you can really do whatever you want.

Trading/exploration/combat make up the "trinity" of roles in Elite--you can rank each of them up, based on your experience.

As a trader, you can basically be a space trucker, hauling cargo from one system to another for profit. On the other hand, you can be a pirate and simply attacked/rob traders and sell their cargo on the black market.

As an explorer, you travel through the galaxy (ED uses NASA data to map out the stars of the Milky Way, which is easily updated by Frontier--they added the Kepler planets the week after they were discovered), scanning systems, trying to find valuable astronomical objects (rare suns, habitable worlds, black holes, etc.), and then selling the data. It took one player 10 weeks to reach the edge of the Milky Way galaxy.

As a combatant, your options are probably the most varied. You can become a bounty hunter (both NPC and players have bounties and can be hunted), you can protect traders, you can join with a faction and fight in their conflicts/wars, etc. Combat in ED is robust and a BLAST--probably my favorite feature of the whole game--but it definitely is slower than SC (from what I've seen). Think Hawken vs Mechwarrior Online, maybe?

Again, it is designed as a sim and it takes that seriously. You'll never use your mouse and keyboard for anything in-game, unless it's at an in-game computer--everything else is controlled by switches and uses your input (whether joystick, HOTAS, or mkb assignments) to control, not a point/click interface.

There is no story mode right now, but there are factions and figures in the galaxy, and the overall galactic story is updated on a weekly basis. Players can help shape those narratives (player actions have led to several rebellions in-game already), though.

I will say that many aspects of ED are a bit shallow at the moment--like Star Citizen, the game is constantly under development and they're always adding new mechanics/content to it. If you love space exploration and/or dog fighting (especially with friends, which is where it is best IMO), you should check it out.

Here's a pretty epic fan trailer, has some straight gameplay in it, as well.

HL2 supports a crap ton of AA options, why not use those instead of straight downsampling? Also, what did you do to HL2?
Some arbitrary variables used for an interesting look. As I have very arcane hardware, I can't provide without great difficulty shots of games running on high settings, so I instead try to make games look different.
