2015 PC Screenshot Thread of the Only Place Where Compression Isn't

A random Far Cry 4 shot.

And a Call of Juarez: Gunslinger shot with the menu open (and hidden) for the old western effect.

I think the CA is from K-Putt's SweetFX preset. Never noticed that until now ಠ_ಠ

Yeah, the grain is quite over the top, but like I said - random settings! And I appreciate that you don't like them. I would have actually agreed with you until, well - my opinion on the game's graphics only changed yesterday when I just turned on shaders through the "eenie meenie minie mo" method :P

To be fair, I've also taken hundreds of shots of Mirror's Edge, and after starting at perfectly clean environments and sterile corridors, emulating a cheap, dirty lens is a welcome change for me.

Fwiw, your reshade methods have been looking absolutely killer in Arkham City so you've got a lot of awesome stuff to show off too~

SotFS looks vastly better in a lot of areas. Here's a comparison between ENB and SotFS:

I feel like the visuals come SO close to looking stellar, but the brightness/bloom is just slightly too high and it really throws it off for me

Yeah that sucks but at least we have ReShade.
ReShade can't do what ENB does though. Especially if there's no depth access (I have no idea, haven't looked into it). Without depth, it's just a different SweetFX injector. With depth, you get SSAO and DoF.

ENB modifies the actual lighting and makes the game look bloody amazing in some places. A lot better than what you can achieve with just SweetFX.

So far, from what I've seen, I'd prefer the DX9 version.

1) Don't drag PMs into a thread to create even more dumb drama. PM a mod and let them resolve it.

2) Don't take screenshot threads quite so seriously.

How is the performance? I'm interested in the game, but have almost no good experiences with more ambitious Unity games. Most of them runs okay at best.

On my GTX 670 and i5 4690K it runs pretty much at a locked 60 on the highest settings, but the amount of pop-in and the general draw distance is ungodly. Really is awful, and probably the only reason I get such good performance in the game.

Hope they can improve that then, won't get it until it's a "finished" game anyway if I do get it.

Could someone explain to me the difference between SweetFX, ReShade and MasterEffect? Why one is better than the other, etc?

Is it hard to use? I applied a SweetFX preset to Dark Souls but all I did was unzip the files to the game folder and it worked.

SweetFX was based off the SMAA injector. You could inject SMAA + additional post processing shaders.

ReShade is a new injector that also has the ability to SOMETIMES detect a game's depth buffer. This allows for more advanced shaders like depth of field and SSAO.

MasterEffect is a suit of shaders (a lot more than SweetFX came with) that is meant to be used along with ReShade. As far as I know, you can't do depth of field or SSAO without MasterEffect right now.

Since ReShade comes by default with SweetFX included, there's no point in using the old SweetFX injector anymore.

Installation is easy. You're still copying files into the game's executable folder. You just have to move either the 32bit or 64bit DLL into the folder and rename it based on the DX version of the game you're playing. It comes with instructions on how to do that. Again, all very easy.

Thanks!

So basically ReShade is an injector like SweetFX, but with more effects. And MasterEffect is a package that adds even more effects to ReShade, is that right?

When I install this, can I change the settings on the fly? Meaning, while in game can I tweak the visual while I see the effects change in real time?

Yes, that is correct. MasterEffect and SweetFX are both separate shader packages and both can be used through ReShade.
Any shader package you use through ReShade can be tweaked on the fly. You just change your desired values, save and ReShade should load the changes immediately.

Dark Souls II has still got some chops. Game takes way too much flak for a lot of things, but it can sure look beautiful.

Elite: Dangerous (10k > 1080p)

I'm a downsampling nub, so hope these look okay. Just got a new ship and while it's not my favorite ship, it's one of my favorite designs.

Just been testing out my new card (980), figured Crysis 3 with a bunch of TXAA and that weird 5120x2880 would suffice. It does. Gosh does it look good. My sharpening was a tad high for the first level shots.

Haha I don't think you qualify as a "nub" when your first downsampled screens are 10K internal res and the end result is that immaculate in image quality. You have a very solid handle on things.

Haha, well, Elite takes care of the 10K screenshot (it's one of their screenshot options)--all I did was use PS to take it to 1080p :P Glad they look good, though--thanks!
