Welcome, very nice start. As for Witcher, in my case they're from the conversations or from the quests when you're playing as Ciri.

I think they position Geralt next to a wall or any other surface and then aim with the crossbow. Sometimes you might get the crossbow in the shot too, but this is the only way to do it afaik.
