Uncharted 4 looks impressive but Quantum Break and Rise of the Tomb Raider impress me more despite running on lower resolutions.

Quantum break is too lowres to impress me, they made too huge sacrifice to reach a result that doesn't beat a game such as AlienIsolation for instance,

UC4 is reminding me a lot of how I felt about RotTR when it first released. Some shots look incredible, while others just look good, or OK. It's not quite as consistent as I was hoping. At it's best it absolutely stuns, though. Can't wait to get blazed on edibles and play it later tonight. :D

And what is up with the very slight use of CA? Adds nothing imo.

I have similar thoughts. Some screens are mindblowingly good but others look kind of par for the course or even worse than other games this gen as far as screenshots go. The image quality is pretty great though as far as console titles go.

I agree. And U4 have one advantage and it's Photo Mode. Gameplay screenshots really don't impress me that much. But Photo Mode does wonders for the game.

ROTTR on PC with tools looks spectacular. Some screenshots that i saw are just too beautiful and impressive i wasn't even sure they are from ROTTR lol, i wish it had proper Photo Mode. Not sure why CD doesn't want to do it.

I think that's just video games generally, though things might stand out more for you with UC4 because so much of it top tier. In other words the less remarkable bits stand out more.

Also, whilst nearly all games do look better in motion, I think UC4 especially benefits from it, because there's tonnes of stuff going on in motion that a screenshot simply doesn't capture, like volumetrics, plumes of fog and dust floating around, trees and foliage moving, clouds, light shafts changing, slight differences to motion blur and focusing (even when stationary thanks to the continuous idle animations) and so on. There's certain scenes which have looked CGI like on the TV, only for me to take a capture and find it looks flatter in the screenshot, because of the lack of all the moving dynamic stuff. That's just par for the course with these things though.

Is this with default values for photo mode, specifically sharpening? I know by default it's at 0% for sharpening, but you can go below 0%. I'm wondering if you gotta crank it all the way down to get no sharpening, or if at some point it actually starts softening the image past the regular gameplay level. In other words, I'm wondering what value for sharpening is equal to gameplay.

yes the photomode is an defaut value .. yes there is a sharp difference but I do not know what it's come. In movement the game more like the image taken from photo mode;)
