Pretty much. Terribly boring conference.

that doesnt even make sense, as a pc gamer we should be happy since they are putting their first party titles up for us to play on our machines without having to buy a console and the lesser experiences attached to them.

Microsoft kept bringing it and bringing it, especially compared to yesterday's tedious as fuck conferences. But they did the same last year, and it hasn't been given the nickname "year of dreams" because of their conference.

Not expecting Sony's to be anywhere near as good as last year, but is t's too early to tell.

Well that conference made me feel better about selling my X1 a week before E3. and basically shift my gaming towards PC.

Scorpio sounds like a beast, but with almost all of the first party titles from MS going to windows, whats the point of the console anymore when the exclusives are offered elsewhere?

I'm just speechless you guys are excited about the Scorpio announcement. It was litterly nothing. Just vapor. Just empty speech. They had shots of a 3D render of a GPU and a cooling fan and said in a year and half were going to deliver a new console that is 6 TFLOPS while having a bunch of people in low lighting talk dramatically about preserving the identity of Xbox and the community.

No price
No games
No hardware!!

You guys are drinking the Kool Aid something fierce if thats all it takes for you to get excited.
I mean people have been telling me for months that Xbox One would be MSs last console and exit from the industry. How is it not exciting to know you'll have a powerful console coming to market next holiday?

How am I supposed to jump into this brand??

I appreciate the options but it's fundamentally damaging confusion. Why buy an Xbox any time this year?? You're releasing one that is leaps and bounds better next year that will soon make whatever I buy today obsolete. Will all future Scorpio games be downscalable to Xbox One S? Why even buy an Xbox when most of the games are going to be on Windows 10?

Help me understand

You can buy an S now and all your games will work on Scorpio in a year and a half. Easy peasy. And your accessories work too.

This conference has left Sony worried. MS did nothing but bring games games games, and then killed it by showing their vision for Scorpio.

That seems like the most obvious conclusion, but part of what made the XBO look so bad initially was that Microsoft showed their hand before Sony, leading to various direct responses (price, sharing, used games, etc.). For all we know, the same might happen again - the people at Sony sitting back to see what the future for XBox looks like, and act accordingly. With the current release schedule for Scorpio, and the rather comfortable position the PS4 is in, it's not exactly like there's any rush to replace the PS4 (outside of PSVR perhaps) at the moment.

That aside, maybe that's just me, but I feel that 4K gaming and PSVR capability are somewhat weak arguments to buy a new system. That may sound good on paper, but until I see something run on the hardware, I'll remain sceptical. This ties back into the arguably poor decision to 'announce' a system so far in advance of its release. If they wanted to reaffirm their commitment to developers and customers, they could have just as well released a press statement.

Solid if unspectacular. Pacing was good aside from the Minecraft segment.

It was unfortunate that some of the demos - FFXV, Scalebound mostly - were poor.

An absolutely fantastic conference as far as I'm concerned but I couldn't shake two question, one while watching it and another at the end: Was that PC footage we were watching and why show a better console at the end when you start the show promoting a weaker console? Apart from that though I thought it was slick and well presented.

You say that like they can just construct the specs the night before launch. They need to start finalizing shit way before that. This won't be a 4k 60fps system at any price that consumers will want to pay, unless they are running the games on very low settings.

I agree that this won't be a 60fps system, but it will be undoubtedly a 4k system. It isn't an unreasonable expectation for a $499 console releasing a year and a half from now to be able to pull off 4k/30fps. Not at all.

State of Decay and the Crossbuy stuff is great, kinda interested in Scorpio but I'd probably be better upgrading my PC.

Disappointed that the games were largely the same ones shown last year or yearly iterations like Forza. No new IP's shown , no Crackdown and no new 3rd party was kinda meh

6.5/10

I think while Microsoft seems to be shooting for the stars in terms of Hardware i do think Sony's strategy will be smarter.
All Sony should be concerned with is getting the PSVR to run perfectly on the Neo with some future proofing. Sony has hardware to sell with the PSVR so they can be way more focused in their message about what the Neo will be when it comes out. Which is basically the perfect console to run the VR system with the best value.

I'll give MS a solid B+.

Most of the conference I didn't care much about, but at least they showed games.

We Happy Few and Sea of Thieves are the only games that interested me but neither sold me on the console.

It was leagues better than the conferences yesterday. Still though, most of it was expected and by the books for a MS conference.

Also, they used up their annual allowance of slow starting trailers with sad music playing. Every other trailer did that.

Announcing Scorpio for Holiday 2017 leaves me a bit worried. What if Neo releases this year? Will people pass on Neo and wait for Scorpio? What was presented was just an idea, not a hardware. Not even a trailer showing something only "the power of Scorpio" could do...

I'm passing on the One S and getting the Neo. I won't buy a scorpio.

They didn't mention oculus when they said VR huh? Maybe they have their own VR solution.

Man I still can't believe they torpedoed their own console like this. Zero reason to announce this so early.

:)

I liked that one

So, looks like Recore is my Jet Force Gemini successor in the way Sunset Overdrive is my Jet Set successor

Let's not assume things. 4k 60 is a very expensive proposition even on PC right now.

People that really thought MS was exiting are nuts. They don't have the most successful console but they make plenty of money.

Hey guys here is an announcement for you and based on how you reacted to Scorpio this is going to get your pants wet here it is:

After the Scorpio MS is going to release another console that will be EVEN MORE POWERFUL!

I know hard to believe.

5/10 for me game wise. Sea of Thieves looks like it might be cool, We Happy Few looks great.

?/10 Hardware wise. The S seems overpriced and I'm not really understanding the strategy behind the Scorpio announce. The corporate promo video is awful as well. It basically said "we got nothing but sketches on the back of a beer mat right now but trust us, it's awesome"

Conference had its ups and downs, but overall, I liked it. Highlights for me:

-Xbox One S - finally getting an Xbox One, I've been waiting for this

-Gears 4 - Love the franchise, nice to see old man Marcus (hope he joins the fight as an npc that's got some great A.I. behind it)

-Forza Horizon 3 - stunning

-We Happy Few - creepy and fantastic

The GTX 1070 can handle just about every game out there at 4K/30fps. It's $379. It's not crazy to think that a year and a half from now, Microsoft would be able to release a console with the same performance for $499 or less.
A PC isn't just a GPU. What CPU is being used in those GTX 1070/1080 benchmarks? How will a mobile AMD CPU compare to that?

perfect.

So, I'm going all in here, betting my right arm: Sony won't launch NEO this fall.
There is no fucking reason to do so. If they want to hurt MS just wait till fall 2017 and release NEO with equal specs.

I think what I'll do is hold off on buying a Slim until I know what the price of a Scorpio will be. If it's insane, I'll just upgrade to Slim.

Gears has a loyal fan base and people are still interested in the series, myself included. I've noticed it's became a "w/e" game on GAF though. I don't know why.

I just considered something. Isn't the trending section defined by your own interests? Is it trending for everyone or just gears fans?

There isnt... if you dont mind using pc... Some people dont. But if games like destiny go pc console then consoles are pointless to people that use pcs.. Id rather go pc and upgrade that hardware as I want.

Kinda sleepy now. Will write a better write-up later. We Happy Few was the highlight of the conference for me. Came out of nowhere that one. Genuinely excited to hear more about it. I love it when a game comes out of nowhere and grabs your attention like that. State of Decay looked good too. I even froze for a second there because I thought I was looking at a new L4D. Hah.

Those XBL services were okay...? And the minecraft segment was just awkward.

Scalebound was surprisingly disappointing, while Recore was pretty cool. Wasn't expecting that flip on my opinions on those respective games. I wanted to see more of Inside but they glossed over that game pretty quick. FFXV's demo was alright I guess. I still have lots of reservation about XV's battle system tbh. And any Neo/Scorpi talk bums me out so I'll just not address them.

I'd give it a B-. Weaker than last year's (what with HoloLens, their BC megaton and new Rare game/new Gears etc reveals).
