Depending on what you need, you can just go to xboxdvr.com and look up your gamertag. You'll be able to download the native PNGs right from there.

From the console, GameDVR will let you upload images to Onedrive. Also on PC you can load up the xbox app and view your shots in the GameDVR section. You have the option of pics on the PC and pics on live. Pick On Live and you'll find the picks with an option to download them to your PC. Default folder is videos/captures. Hope that helps.

can you actually race with a dof'd dashboard like this? it looks very immersive. or it is just a photomode visual feature?

Pure gameplay shot @100%.
And indeed, the helmet cam is so immersive that you can't go back to normal views once tried.
The sense of speed and immersion are more pronounced as you have cockpit shakes, but also zoom in and out, head's moves, blur effect, visor effect to add to the experience.
This is the most impressive thing I have experienced in a driving game after the DC weather patch, in the immersion field.

The team that ended up becoming SMS was pioneering some really effective "cinematic" effects starting with the Shift games. They have people with great eyes for that sort of presentation.

That's what I use as well, not sure what other options there are.

You can actually upload to a Onedrive account if you have that (come to think of it, if you have a Microsoft account you have a onedrive), but it's a tedious prosess. xboxdvr.com is amazing, so easy!

How would you do it if you have a ps4? might come handy in the future

Well on Xbox One the console auto uploads the pics somewhere where sites like xboxdvr can see them, don't know if weirdly MS support such a hosting website.

You can also select each screenshot locally on your Xbox One and select upload to onedrive, but I believe you only can select one and one. It turns up in your screenshot folder on onedrive.com

As for PS4 it's more cumbersome approach; either upload them in shit quality to twitter and get them from there (not recommended) or save them locally on your PS4 and copy them over to a USB pen. Then upload the pics on a picture website host like abload.de for example. Remember to set the PS4 to capture screenshots to .PNG rather than the compressed .JPG it's set to default.
