I'll update this OP soon :)

I'm going for Australia!

England won the toss and elected to bat! No Broad or Anderson! What does it all MEEEAN?!

Pom fans: Sorry for what we did to your anthem there!

Oh man, first bowl of the SERIES gets the wicket. Bowled! Oh boy, poms, Rory Burns (aka the experienced one) falling first ball. I think we're all a bit worried that the English team won't offer up much resistance for the next 6 months...

What's the bet Stokes punches someone lol

quite honestly not very good English cricket team.
I think you coulda just stuck with this one <3 nice to see you here too Toytown :D

I'm hoping the poms win a test or two. But it's hard not to get behind Cummins, the rare unimpeachable character lol... Until David Warner convinces him to cheat or something

I just hope ben stokes gets caught bashing someone again and loses his dubious hero status :snarl: to be fair though i hope the same happens to Warner

The only things stopping 5-0 is gonna be weather and covid. I guess England have a chance in the day/night games if everything goes right (it wont) Our test team is rubbish away from home and at home jimmy and broad wont last for ever. Grim times.

We would be in the same boat if we didn't luck into half of another golden generation imo, if someone appears to replace Hazelwood within a year or two of his eventual retirement then, only then, I'll accept that he wasn't a fluke.

England somehow became really good at short form cricket. Unfortunately hardly any of those players are any good at the longer game. So we have this revolving door of mediocre batsmen and one day batsmen given a few games and all failing over and over. It's kinda hopeless. If root and stokes don't fire it's usually all over. That and the dependable bowling is getting really old. The younger bowlers are always getting fecking injured.

I guess that's the way of it, remember we didn't have Cummins for the better part of a decade..

I really feel like Australia was in the same boat until smith dropped into our hands from his leg spinning debut lol, Khawaja and co, oy vey

are the aussies sledging yet?
also why was the cricket t20 world cup ignored on neogaf?
T20, mm, this is really just me and I'm not trying to be elitist but i love t20 for weeknight diversion... It's not real cricket, i think we're constantly seeing signs that fundamental things need to be changed about it - the kiwis being happy to score so little in the first 10 overs of the final, for example - and yeah, for me at least it's harder to be motivated to make a (guaranteed unsuccessful) thread about t20 than the ashes.

Mostly americans on here who dont even like their own sports.... so yeah that's why the poll in this thread has an amazing 3 votes lol.
Joe root seems to be a tad risk averse

I'd be happy to chat about the India series going on right now but it's in India so, like England, the conditions so favour the hosts that average top tier professionals are made to look like all-time greats, and that's kind of depressing lol... Ashwin and Anderson, they're greats no doubt but they've enjoyed their home conditions inordinately.. joe root #1 test batsman out for a limp duck as soon as he comes here... pretty nonplussed by ashwin's 8-fer apparently getting him closer to Cummins in the rankings
