Following one from last year, this is a continuation of the '12 games in 12 months' challenge for those of us with more pressures on our time, or don't play as much as we used to (or just spend more time in larger games. Rules are similar.

How do I take part?
Claim a 'main post' where you will list all your completions for the year. You can use fancy images or special formatting to make it extra cool. In addition to this post your updates, completions and thoughts as singular posts throughout the year.

How do I know when I've completed a game?
That can be tricky to determine, but it's ultimately up to you. If its a straightforward single player game then it's typically when the credits roll, but if it's say a multiplayer session based game maybe its when you've unlocked a certain feature or completed a battle pass.

Do the completions need to be games released this year?
Nope; any video game will suffice. It can be first plays or replays, classics or recent releases. It can be a game you started last year but are finishing this year.

I'll claim my post here - I did complete last year but got lazy and didn't update. Currently playing

Red Dead Redemptiom 1 | XSX
Veilguard | PS5
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors | PC
Dying Light | XSX
Hellblade II | PC

My post:

1) Cirote3 (GBA) - still playing
2) Unreal Gold (PC) - still playing
3) Shadow of Mordor (PC) - still playing but might drop

and those are the games I want to play in 2026:

Ace Combat 7
Valkyrie Profile 2
Phantasy Star
Shining Force III (at least the first one)
Gothic

Let me try again.

I'm playing monster hunter rise, dragon quest 3 remake, Ace attorney trilogy for now. I doubt o can finish something this month, but let's see how far I go.

I sit somewhere between the '12' and '52' games in a year goals so I'll join the one I can actually do ;)

I do play a lot of games so in order to make this an actual challenge I think what I'll do is consider a game "complete" after obtaining all achievements or at least all non-multiplayer achievements as I don't really bother with those. Also only games I start this year so my recently "completed" Wuchang won't count.

Basically, for me, this will be 12 perfect games in 12 months.

If I can read 12 books in a year, why not 12 games as well. Hopefully even more.

Currently playing Ghost of Yotei. Started it after Christmas, but I'll still count it since I'll finish it this year.

1. Ghost of Yotei - still playing (not loving it)

Maybe this is a better thread for me than the 52 one, because I tend to play lots of RPG's which take a long time. So I'll take this challenge this year, but will probably finish more.

Let's try for it, although with me liking cRPG games that will be hard.

Oblivion Remastered (cheating here, the main quest is super short)
The Alters (started in 2025, probably got less than 10 hours to go)
Hollow Knight
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - probably first game I will play on Legion Go 2
Persona 4 Golden
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - this one will be ouch
Baldur's Gate 3
Dishonored 2
Prey
Space Marine 1
Boltgun
Chaos Gate: Demonhunters
Alien: Dark Descent

13 in total, let's where and when we end up.

Great stuff. This thread was a really good outlet for me last year so lets go for it again!

OK

1) Resident Evil 3 Remake (7/1/26)

Somehow never played the original so I can't speak to what seems like people's general disappointment in this entry but I liked it. A short, fun, rollercoaster ride of a game. Nothing earth shattering but overall worth the time and the small amount I payed for it in the steam sale.

Well, I made it to 24 last year and I would guess that is about where I'll be at the end of this year as well. I'm not a completionist and I try to get through most games as quickly and efficiently as possible. I consider a game finished when I complete the main story/quest and credits roll and usually don't engage much with side content unless it's necessary. Also, I play a lot of Strategy games that I consider finished when I complete a campaign because they don't have a main story mode (Warno, Stellaris, Sins of a Solar Empire, etc...)

I also regularly play many games that are never finished because they are intended to have indefinite replay value or pvp multiplayer/gaas like Battlefield, Halo, Arc Raiders, Forza, Flight Sim, Crew, Riders Republic, etc..

Games that I know I'll play or that I'll probably play and might be finishing this year and some I will predict starting with new releases:

Halo
GTA
Fable
Crimson Desert
Saros
Control Resonant
Tomb Raider Atlantis

Star Wars Outlaws
God of War Ragnarok
Horizon Forbidden West
Jedi Survivor
Mass Effect Andromeda
Ghost Recon Wildlands
Red Dead Redemption

Total War Napoleon
Total War Rome 2
Total War Pharaoh
Total War Warhammer 3
Battletech
Homeworld 3
Sins of a Solar Empire 2
Warhammer 40K Battlesector
Wargame Red Dragon
Mars First Logistics
Planet Crafter

First game down. Was already working on this but it was a shorter/easier completion. Took me just under 11 hours and most of it was done on my Steam Deck away from home. Pretty fun game that emulates the Zelda CDi games animation and gameplay without actually being bad itself. Had some good chuckles at the jokes and references. Not a difficult or long game but requires at least 3 playthroughs for all achievements.

Wicked Seed comes out at the end of the month and will likely be my main game until REquiem.
