I knew when Marwan promised not to kill them, he was lying. But his goon failed, so he indirectly told the truth. One twist after another!

I hate people who whine about every detail 'why didnt they do this or that un that situation'. Yeah right numbnuts, if you were in the same situation you would have ran your ass off far away from that briefcase as soon as you saw the lights. I saw nothing wrong with the logic of this episode, everything made sense. And no they couldn't have just split up the briefcase as soon as they found it because Jack didn't give them the code. Quit bitching about every little detail.

Man is this what I've been missing. This was the first episode that I've seen of 2 and man was it cool, even though there were a lot of leaps in logic to be had.

1) Why not take out the tracker and throw it in the oppisote direction you are going.

2) Or open the case take the book and close it again, then leave the case in the open. By the time the terrorist would have been able to open it the couple could have been long gone.

3) WTF so they blew up Air force one with a stolen stealth fighter just to get the football. A) How would they know that the football would have been ejected rather than being destroyed in the wreckage, and B) How were they expecting to get close to the wreckage . Wouldn't the entire military have been swarming all over the wreckage. Which leads into another quetion

4) Where the fuck were the the military? All the government sends is Jack and a red shirt?

Anyhow great show i'll have to Tivo it so i don't miss anymore episodes.

Yay! You'd make a very exciting episode of "24" :)

1) Apparently the tracker was deeper inside the casing. Yeah its going to be cake to slit the casing with a ROCK. He beat on the thing with a rock just to knock it out. And throw it the other way doesn't do anything, if anything it makes it harder to get away. I think there's a better chance they were to believe it was defective and look for it rather than finding the tracker out in the open and KNOWING someone took it.

2) Jack didn't have the code to open it yet when he was talking to them on the phone. His first priority was to get them the hell out of the way. There wasn't anytime to call, get the code, take the shit out, then run off without getting spotted. He was trying to buy as much time as possible.

3) A) A calculated risk maybe? The plane wasn't hit to take it out, it was hit to take it down. He obviously could have fired 4 missles and completely annihilated AFO.
B) That part of the reckage was nowhere near where the President was. It wasn't down but a few seconds when things started to go into motion. I doubt the entire military could have been out there in a matter of minutes like Jack was able to do, who was ordered by the Secretary of Defense to go out there and get it.

4) Again take in account the time frame, and the expertise. Lets see get Jack who has became the leader of this operation or some uninformed military yahoos that are probably many more miles away. Tony even said 'No we don't have any ground crews or anything within there'.

So there you go. I don't see why every detail of the show has to become a bone of contention about what would really happen.

How nice. Marwan was never attempting to kill the President, he was after the "football" the whole time.

With a couple of returnees popping up (ie. Tony, Michelle), how about adding another returnee? Perhaps someone who can help the new President, who seems a bit incompetent.

AICN says
both Palmer and _Chase_ are coming back?!

Hehe...
WARNING: BIG HUGE MEGA-SPOILERS
Palmer's back in two weeks... I suspect next week's episode will lead into that somehow, though I could be wrong. (And the fact that he's back for the last six episodes was announced months ago... though I don't blame people for avoiding info like that.) And Chase is supposedly back a week after that.

uh, when you're a terrorist, blowing up air force one is a good in itself, and if you get the nuclear football, so much the better. good episode, anyway.

The next guest appearance seems rather obvious :P

Great episode. Largely because they avoided the dreadfully boring CTU politics.

I DON'T CARE WHAT EDGAR THINKS OF CHLOE

Word.

It's funny reading these threads and seeing everyone reacting to the show and the various excitements.... meanwhile Pheonix is bitching about every little thing. Or trying to impress us. I'm not sure. I just hope you're enjoying yourself, bud. ;)

I've already managed to read a fucking spoiler about who's alleged to be coming back. :( I hope they're wrong. :)

And what does "AICN" stand for?

EDIT: N/M. How would they know anyway?

There is another thing. No dismemberments among the plane wreckage. Very weak. I aught to give the writers a flying leg drop!

You know what would make a great crossover?
What if Chase wasn't able to get his hand reattached, and he ends up in the same support group as Buster Bluth?

Heh, that's what I was thinking. You would think they would have a few extra troops examining the whole thing. But I try not to nitpick things.

Anyway, awesome episode. I really felt the fear and pain of the couple being chased. So much for their relaxed, sex-filled weekend.

OK, so they open the football.. why don't they destroy the damn thing? I would've been ripping up the pages in the playbook and swallowing it. Mmmmm, fiber!

Nathan

What the fuck is everyone talking about with the tracker? He broke the chip when he was running the knife over it. They only tracked him by mapping the vector that the cell phone tracer picked up and guessed that it was going for cover at the powerplant. THEY DIDNT FOLLOW THE TRACKER THERE!!!! god damn.

now, as for this:

What are you talking about man? The moment he was like "They need both of them" I'd have told him that I hid the playbook or something like that. Or i'd have gone wherever I coudl and just dumped the fucking football, run with my wife with the playbook and toss that. And once you know you ditched somebody... YOU DONT KEEP RUNNING AROUND! You stay in an area you know they just left, cuz nobodys gonna search, in a hurry, a place that they just looked. And if I was in the situation, and I knew the tracker was destroyed, I'd have told them I left it in the fucking desert had I been caught before being given the codes.

I'm sorry, though, you obviously missed the part where they talked about tracking them by using a cellular triangulation as opposed to the built-in tracking device. So obviously I wouldn't expect you to pick up on the lighter logical flaws that come with this sort of television programming or to understand why everyone else is whining about it, numbnuts.

Good episode.
Nitpicks:

1. The first thing Jack should have done was to either shoot out the tires of the Jeeps that the terrorists came in, or ask air support to do it. The football isn't very useful if the terrorists have to escape on-foot from the middle of a desert.

2. Why didn't Jack just have the dude burn the playbook and/or smash the panel as soon as he got the case open?

The most suspenseful episode of 24 this season.

Yeah, you do have to wonder how the Terrorists managed to orchestrate something this damn huge...because it seems really quite elaborate at this point.

Train Crash
Kidnap Secretary of Defense
Attempt to Melt down reactors
Steal a Stealth Bomber
Shoot down Air Force One
Recover Football and take control of nuclear warheads

Here's the thing...there doesn't seem to be an end game...this seems like a completely separate incident. It's like they've planned out a week's worth of attacks, knowing they'd get caught at some point. I mean, as it is they've got a shitload of stuff they've done, and the warhead, due to its position in the season, has to be the end game. But it is less of an end game and more or a strike of a similar nature to the Nuclear one.

I'll be more interested in seeing whether Marwan wants to fire the missile at the US or another nation. Firing it on China would be more devastating for the US.

Excited to see where this guys...I'm not even preview spoilered, but I am aware of two weeks from now's little twist. It's falling into place, I think.

I dunno. I thought the episode was pretty "meh." The last episode was better, but I just don't get hyped up as when the new previews talk about "THIS WILL BE THE EPISODE YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS!" :::chase after terrorist, shoot, shoot, chase after terrorist, shoot, shoot:::

Was Jack a hardass in the first and second seasons of 24? Where's all the judo and shit? :lol

I want to see the new promo DAMMIT! :lol

Maybe that freaky guy with Mike Novick is working with Marwan?
Maybe he told Marwan about the location of James Heller and Audrey in the beginning, and about the transport of the override device?

And what the fuck is Heller doing? Audrey said that Heller called, but we haven't seen him for 2/3 episodes now? (I think he was absent, because he had to do a new comedy pilot for CBS).

They only tracked him by mapping the vector that the cell phone tracer picked up and guessed that it was going for cover at the powerplant. THEY DIDNT FOLLOW THE TRACKER THERE!!!! god damn.
:lol

Who said they did?

First off, it was a rock, not a knife. Secondly, they traced the phone AFTER THE TRACKER WENT DEAD. If they would of keep the tracker functional, it would of bought them some time as a decoy.
