With the fourth season of 24 barely concluded, details have already begun to emerge about Jack Bauer's next adventure.

"We'll pick Jack up in a very different place, roughly a year later," producer Robert Cochran revealed to TV Guide. "Of course, the show is the show, so it won't be long before he's back in the saddle. But we'll explore a little bit of what he's been doing with his life and the situation he's gotten himself into. That will certainly have an impact on his behaviour when he gets involved in the streets."

Confirmed returning cast members include Mary Lynn Rajskub (Chloe O'Brian) and Roger Cross (Curtis Manning), while an as-yet undisclosed actress has been cast in a "major new female role."

According to spoilers website 24 Insider, the opening episode is rumoured to feature a terrorist bombing of a "high value target," with several major characters expected to die in the explosion.

Filming of season five is due to commence at the end of July but won't premiere until January 2006 in the States.

I hope they don't kill Palmer. That would really suck.

As for people I'd like to see back in Season 5, bring back Chase! I could care less about Kim personally, but Chase is a must. Tony and Michelle would be great to see again, although from how Season 4 ended I don't think that is going to happen.

I would like to see the villains from Season 2 finally emerge. That would make me a happy person.

the creators expressed ideas about a prequel in one of the dvd sets, but they said there would be little tension because you know who will survive by the end of the season
