30 Years Ago Today Terminator 2: Judgement Day Premiered

Saw it in the theater opening weekend. I remember back then how we thought Arnold looked old. Looking back, he doesn’t look old, but he does seem much thinner than he was in the early 80’s.
Yeah, he was definitely bigger in T1 compared to T2. Just compare the punk scene from T1 to the bar scene in T2. His head and overall size just looked bigger.

Wasn’t able to see it in theaters but rented it day one and watched it twice in a row. Couldn’t believe what they just pulled off. Amazing film.

Judgement Day was as perfect a sequel as Aliens was to Alien. Cameron is a cinematic genius!

Too bad Edward Furlong had to fuck it up and not appear in Rise of the Machines. He's the only John Connor as Terrence Howard is the only War Machine! (fight me on this) 😤

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
This movie is my childhood. I was probably 5 when it came out so I couldn’t watch it in theaters, but a year or two after, I got a VHS player along with this movie. I must have watched it movie literally over 100 times. Sometimes I would come back from school and play it in the background just to listen to the soundtrack. I also got a second version of the tape after the first one ate shit.

Wildest scene is the helicopter chase, where the helicopter goes under an overpass. That shit was real, no CG. Dude had just a few feet above and below when flying under it. One mistake and the pilot, as he himself put it, would be killed. The pilot was a Vietnam War vet, and he did the stunt TWICE.

The massive fucking balls that takes.

I own 4 copies of this, not including DVD's and VHS.
3 Blu-ray SteelBooks & 1 4k Blu-ray SteelBook.
If you haven't seen this film, what the fuck are you doing.
I wasn't old enough to watch it at the cinema, but my dad rented when came out and still remember that viewing of it
It's one of the best films ever made.

I remember a lot of movies stole the blue color grading for night after T2 came out. Definitely in the top 10 iconic films of all time.

I wish Cameron would make another dark R rated action movie. Everything in the last 2 decades still feels like it's either Michael Bay or music video BS.

He’s too busy making fifteen Avatar sequels on the ocean floor.

I own the 4K version, am planning to watch it this summer.

I prefer the first, because I love the horror aspect of it, but I love T2. Furlong has always annoyed me though as an actor, but he’s tolerable in this somewhat.

I remember seeing jacked Sarah Connor for the first time, she was fucking badass.

Arnold's stunt double legitimately walked across the truck and onto the semi in that one scene. No wire. So much awesome stunt work.

I remember this being the first 4D experience. It was something else. Actors on the floor along with the 3D show, wind machines and the whole nine yards. One of the best attractions ever.

Fuck yes, amped for the rest of my day.

You can thank Harlan Ellison for the first film ;)

This thread made me realize that I either lost or never owned t2 on blu ray. I think I must have lost it because I have t1 and there is no way I would own 1 and not 2.

Either way, it’s 10 bucks for the 4K blu ray on Amazon so jump on that if you don’t own it.

I can't wait for Cameron to again raise the bar with Avatar 2 & 3.

Avatar is like the last film I got excited about, CGI wise. Is there even anything left to accomplish in that space?

Didn't realize he actually has 4 more sequels in the queue. That's nuts.

the guy always surprises people with his command in filmmaking. I mean the studio outright gave this person 1B dollar to shoot everything all sequels important shots underwater, like literal under the ocean. I am just not gonna bet against him. Maybe the whole movie would be the best 3D we have ever seen. Now there is literally no limit there.

Just fact checked with my brother. Definitely saw this in the theater when I was 5. And then again when it came out on VHS. I had to confirm with him because I distinctly remember the skull stomp opening in a theater setting, but thought “no way my parents let me see it at 5”

Also knew all the words to RoboCop when I was 8.

I am a normal adult. We are overthinking parenting today and underestimating children.*

*Having said this, no way can my 5 year old watch this movie.

T1 & T2 are both incredible despite representing different genres (thriller/horror and action flick). I've seen them for the first time on vhs and it was a sensational experience even on a small tv screen. I think T2 is better for rewatching since T1000 is a better hunter and not that easy to slow down. And ultimately it's got more memorable scenes than T1.

Its a 10/10 movie, one of the best sequels ever made.

As I've gotten older, I much prefer the original film. But its impossible to deny the craftsmanship, pacing, & impact of T2.

My dad was a douche playboy that very came around. Showed up one day after years in his caddy with white walls just to spoil the movie.

Crazy. I was out west helping my uncle move from Sacramento to Provo and we stopped at some tiny theater in a dusty little western town to see this.
I had a patty melt at the local ma n pop diner afterwards. Why can I remember this ancient day with crystalline clarity but if you ask me about last week I have no idea.
Thanks for making me feel old op.

I also remember going to see it opening weekend - was at a 4th of July barbecue and my dad asked if my friends and I wanted to go. Of fucking course I did, and it remains the greatest theater experience of my life. We went to the late show and saw everyone leaving the 7:30 screening, and you could tell how much they enjoyed it. I was so hyped I had recorded the Guns N Roses video for You Could Be Mine on a VHS tape and had been watching it on a loop.

I re-watch the movie every 4th of July weekend. This year will be the first time I've seen the 4k version, can't wait.

Greatest action film ever made.

What's the best way to watch this today, preferably the theater cut?I heard he fiddled with the color grading in the newer blurays?

What time is it?
Great movie but Ed Furlong kind of drags the experience down.

The second best sequel of all time. The best being another Cameron movie; Aliens.

Legend of the Drunken Master is the best sequel ever though.
