32 bit franchises that are dead

Excluding the GBA games, the Ogre series and the Shining Force/in the Darkness series. I'm not saying the new Shining Force game won't be good, but I'd really like a new SRPG. Even if it's just a compendium/remake of the Saturn games.

Please do not speak of typical Playstation fastfood software as franchises. They are easily replaced. mimicked, cloned, whatever.

"32 bit franchises that are dead" there is only 1 answer to this question/topic. SEGA. not hating on sega but when you think about it sega was really on it during the 32 bit era. clockwork knight, bug!, astal, NiGHTS, virtual on, sega rally, daytona. beyond dreamcast just about every sega franchise has died. i pray to god they plan on coming back this upcoming gen. If not they will surely perish as far as the home market goes.

Brigandine should've gotten a second game (it just got a Grand Edition which was more story events, anime cutscenes, and anime stills for events). That game rocked =(.

Mega Man Legends really needed another set of games for the current gen too. Legends 1/2 were awesome and Tron Bonne was an awesome game/mini-gamefest.

Along with the FF7 trio which will absolutely kick ass.

FF7 Advent Children
FF7 Crisis Core
FF7 Dirge of Cerberus

Some call it milking.... I call it sex. :)

Oh come on, the only reason you're saying they're going to kick ass is because they have "FF7" attached to them.

Think about it: one's a movie by Square Enix, one's an action-RPG we know nothing about, and the other is an ACTION GAME by a mainly RPG COMPANY.

Oh, and don't forget FFVII: Before Crisis and FFVII Snowboarding.

yay milking. >_>

And I want a new Ogre Battle game that lives up to the legacy of this one:

#3 best game of all time.

I think I'm hyped for them mainly because FF7 is one of my favorite games ever. But FF7 AC looks amazing as of right now.

Well yeah, it LOOKS amazing, because it's damn CG!

But do you know anything about it's actual quality as a movie? I don't think so.

Only one I care about is Bushido Blade. The only multiplayer game that I have spent even close to as much time on is the original Soul Calibur. I still occasionally load up Bushido Blade 2 with friends.

I wouldn't mind a new Parasite Eve or an Alundra like the original.

okay, one more I deperately want a sequel to: Valkyrie Profile.

We just need Sony to let Psygnosis return to their glory days. Wipeout, Colony Wars, Destruction Derby, G Police, and the Psygnosis game that needs to return more then any other....Shadow of the Beast.

After FF X, XI, and X-2, it is safe to say that FF is dead. :( The Bouncer, Front Mission4, Unlimited Saga... Square is dead.

Good luck telling that to the millions of loyal people who will pick FF12 and Kingdom Hearts 2 up, including me

I'll never forget Croc, first game I bought for my Playstation, it only went on for two games but IÂ’ll be dammed if I don't wish for a third, though I'm pretty sure Argonaut went out of business :(

O 32 bit platformers, how I love thee.

Castlevania.

I'll get flamed for this one, but there has yet to be a single EXCELLENT 3D transition for this series.

Especially compared to the AAA calibur of its predecessors.

Why on earth would you get flamed for that? Isn't that what everyone agrees?

Go play some a few of em on the GBA, or get the new one for the DS.... that's AAA right there..

I'll probably end up repeating the same stuff that others have already mentioned, but...

- Bushido Blade (the original, not the dodgy sequel)
- Einhander
- Tobal (The Akira Toriyama character designs were awesome and the grapple system was utterly raped when they released Ehrgeiz. Blech!)
- Klonoa - after some volleyball game and a half-arsed hand-held version, it seems to have died...
- Xi[sai] (aka Devil Dice) - one of my favourite puzzle games of all time. Thank God for Zoo Keeper.
- Starfox. Somebody please tell me that last action/platformy malarkey was just a bad dream...
- Powerstone. One of the best multiplayer action/fighting games of its time (I guess everyone preferred SSBM or something...). Same with...
- Tech Romancer. Which was closely followed by
- Remote Control Dandy.
- Strider - they kind of redid it for the PSone towards its final days... loved it to bits, even though it was on the short side...
- Micro Machines, though that's been replaced to an extent by Mashed...
- Shinobi - I still treasure my old Genesis version...
- Golden Axe - the PS2 remake sucked all kinds of ass. It needs a proper makeover.
- Lemmings - but that's alleviated somewhat by Worms...
- Fighting Force. Eh, it was crap. Somehow I hoped it would be Final Fight 3D.
- Street Fighter EX - I wonder what happened to Arika...?
- Justice Highschool - absolutely loved this game and its sequel on PSone.
- Medievil - a little old-school adventuring with a Tim Burton flavour. Aren't they making a new one? Or I think there's a new game being released in Halloween called A Nightmare Before Christmas: Boogie Nights... or something like that.
- Ridge Racer. Haven't actually seen a decent one since V, and even that is debatable.
- Punch Out. The original and the best. Games like Rocky prove that there's some room left in the genre for some humor and creativity. Which reminds me, where's
- Ready 2 Rumble? That was kind of half decent...
- Duke Nukem. Well, not that anyone's really hanging for him...

Wasn't the PS1 a 64 bit system?

No, the PS1 was a 32 bit system. The N64 was the only 64 bit system release at the time.

I would like to see a new Burning Rangers. I loved that game.

Besides the afro-mentioned Jumping Flash, I'd also love sequels in Sega's Clockwork Knights series and Pschygnosis' Rollcage series. I did love Turok in those days, but with the Evolution turning out to be a disgrace, I'd rather leave it dead.
