360 Gpu Exposed, 4XMSAA etc , and PS3GPU was a late change.

I'm as old as GAMING AGE on EZboard...Yes, I know him.

And to your next question, No.

Well you might not be him but you sure act like him. You copied MS's PR spin from xbox fansites and you presented it as facts.

I won't get into all this fanboy tech masturbation. I just wanted to say that I think the daughter die in X360 with the 10 mb of eDRAM and the FPUs is bloody brilliant. It is the best implementation of using a standard graphic level I have seen as it essentially says 'you have no excuse not to be HD with AA'. Bravo.

OMFG, PS3 got OWNED by Xbox360 here :D

i dont think anyone would call anandtech a biased site. Their hardware reviews have always been top notch.

"Given that the RSX is based off of NVIDIA's G70 architecture, you can expect to have a similar feature set later this year on the PC. In fact, NVIDIA stated that by the time PS3 ships there will be a more powerful GPU available on the desktop. This is in stark contrast to ATI's stance that a number of the features of the Xbox 360 GPU won't make it to the desktop for a matter of years (potentially unified shader architecture), while others will never be seen on the desktop (embedded DRAM?)."

"NVIDIA stated that they will eventually do a unified shader GPU, but before then there are a number of other GPU enhancements that they are looking to implement."

In other words ,
_RSX' performance is below that of Geforce 7800 (the top of the line nvidea card for the next gen )
_Xenos' performance is higher then that of the upcoming r520
(case in point, ATI had the r520 ruby demo easily running on x360 gpu at e3, with effects and resources to spare)
_Nvidea is already looking into copying ATI's aproach for their g80 or whatever itll be called

so much for PS3 beeing "twice as powerfull" as x360 eh :)

This is not what's being said. Features != performance. In terms of raw shader performance, the R520 should at least match Xenos if not exceed it. It's just arranging its performance in a different way (dedicated pipes still, because there is no standard in PC-land yet for unified shaders. There doesn't have to be one to include that architecture in a closed box like a console)

They've always said unified shaders are in their future - but not for now. They don't think it's the way to go with SM3.0+ level hardware (X360/PS3 etc.). Later, when you're at SM4.0 level hardware, things change a bit, and are more conducive to unified shaders (or so Nvidia would argue).

It's great design by MS. It's one thing to mandate the AA and HD of developers, it's another thing entire to put the innovation into the system design to make it painless. I'm really impressed the more I read about how the system is customized to make games.

Yeah it will be interesting to see how good the AA is on the system.

Those charts were made out of desperation. It reminds me of something IGN DC would whip up when it looked like the DC was in trouble.

Well said. :)

There's a reason some of us have stopped posting in this thread. I'm done discussing it here until Pana posts his synopsis. There's no convincing some of you, though I'm convinced at least one of you is Deadmeat...hmm. He had a penchant for finding totally worthless articles that conformed to his warped view on things...hmm. This thread went from fun to tedious really quickly. :( PEACE.

If current hardware is any indication, ATI's technique is actually better than NVIDIA's (if I'm not mistaken). That of course assumes NVIDIA doesn't change anything.
