Two 360's taken in Virginia armed robbery
Consoles taken at gunpoint just hours ago; thief apprehended, consoles recovered.
A Stafford, Virginia, Electronics Boutique store was the scene of an armed robbery this morning. According to sources, the perpetrator made off with two Xbox 360 systems, forcing the store manager to hand them over at gun point.

Sources tell GameSpot the local police responded quickly, cordoned off the store, and immediately pursued the thief. The thief was apprehended shortly afterwards.

Because the police consider the heist an ongoing criminal investigation, store employees were reluctant to discuss details of the robbery. But as of press time, the store is open, and all systems are back to normal.

"We're all fine and everything is cool," a store staffer told GameSpot.

Isn't using a gun a bit of overkill? Most Gamestop employees look like they would hand over thier wallets and thier cars if you just raise your voice a little.

Maybe its just me, but it seems like people get more violent over Xboxes than any other system out there.

I remember reading about 2 murders in different parts of the country over the last year and both cases were over an Xbox system.

ive noticed a few articles too but many times they arent really over the xbox, that just happens to be one of the items taken after the crime, and the press latches into it and makes it an issue like the xbox was the main reason.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

See, this is what's wrong with gaming going mainstream. Nerds don't rob stores.

Not true, when the Magic the Gathering set Legends came out in limited quantities, I remember there being at least two news stories about nerds breaking into collectible stores and stealing boxes of the cards...

...and then leaving cash for them on the counter. So yeah, I guess there is a difference between "nerd" robbery and "normal" robbery. :lol

Now you KNOW theres going to be some type of case report study on the harmfull effects of gaming because of this...

:/

These guys are assholes. I remember that one guy in Montreal who was selling Dreamcast systems was killed by two stupid shitheads when the DC came out .

I don't know how people like this can live with their actions.

That's because they are for more mature and hardcore gamers.

Sega got them back.

Last year in Deltona, FL (midway between Orlando and Daytona Beach) there was an absolutely brutal murder over an Xbox, something like 7 people killed with baseball bats. If they wanted one that bad I would've gave them mine. Jeebus.

lol! It's not that serious. Not like the thieves had intentions of hurting anyone. If they did, they didn't act on it.

This kind of thing happens everyday when dealing w/ expensive electronics.

The only shitty thing about this is that it'll fuel the videogame violence debate.

Yeah that's one of them I remember reading about. The crime was commited because a group of people had stolen the guy's Xbox so he took a baseball bat and cleaned house.

Are you joking? As far as the cops are concerned, armed robbery is armed robbery.

thats what i mean about the press exagerrating it

he had other stuff in that house as well, but since there was an xbox with his stuff, it got latched onto as the reason for the whole thing happening.
