3DS Streetpass Experiences

Another puzzle came in on my JP 3DS last night/this morning. Behold the Kirby Fighters Z puzzle:

c8llWWW.jpg

I got a good number of Project mirai 2 passes at Anime Expo but very few of their respective Mii Plaza passes (annoyingly, my NA 3DS got a lot more JP Mii Plaza passes than my JP 3DS did). I only managed to scrape the last pieces I needed for the Darumeshi Sports Shop puzzle... Monster Hunter 4 remains incomplete and of course the Rockman puzzle dropped while AX was in progress, so I'm now sitting on three puzzles I can't finish right now.

Streetpass games progress:

- All Puzzle Swap pieces. Give me a new puzzle now. It's been months.
- Find Mii 1, 2, Secret Quest, 100% complete, including all Find Mii-related achievements. I don't play this game anymore.
- Mii Force: all plaza tickets, everything complete except for Arcade Mode (hard) which I won't even attempt. Focusing on beating my high score whenever I get a tag.
- Flower Town: all plaza tickets, 70/80 plants, 18 jobs done. I find it the most interesting game, surprisingly. It's not exciting or anything, but it's deeper than it looks.
- Monster Manor: all but one plaza ticket, the puzzle boxes one. Missing two. I'm on Floor 44 and all my floors are completely filled except for three. This thread helped me a lot in maximizing my puzzle/gold chest opportunities.
- Warrior's Way: 8 million troops, one land to conquer. I still need to beat this game almost three times, and... "Battle monarchs from afar 300 times." I'm almost at 100, and I don't use homepass. Getting there.

I've stopped carrying the 3DS with me.

End of an era.
But think of how many people won't pass someone with all the puzzle pieces and 9,999,999 troops. Especially those people who just got battle...

Like you said earlier you get too many passes too quickly and can't do anything with them anyway. If you wanted to clear out the queue it is probably quicker to use the press power button gate and greeting skip trick (if this still works) than it is to load up notifications (why is it so slow?) and delete each one.

Heh, I stopped carrying mine regularly for a few months but decided to take it out this morning funnily enough. I've had four explorers waiting at my Tomodachi dock for about a week so I thought I'd finally send them on.

After all tickets, hats, puzzles, plants etc there's nothing that motivates me now.
Not even new puzzles.
Hopefully the Curtain Call - Fantasy Life - Smash Bros triple bill later in the year have enough combined cool Streetpass features to make me want to take it again.

I should start taking my 3DS out more. After Japan I got a bit burned by it and took a break and I just haven't gotten back into the habit.

I have two systems and I streetpass every day. Yesterday I turned them on to tag and went to change clothes. I came back and had a streetpass from someone else on top of my regular one with myself. First time that's ever happened.

I was I starting to get overwhelmed by the Mii plaza stuff. It was cool when I only had a dozen puzzles to work on and they seems doable. Now there is like 900 pieces and it's ridiculous. Just a normal streetpass day would get me 7-10 hits, but at conventions I was spending all my gaming time just dealing with streetpass.

I disabled streetpass on Mii plaza and now life is so much better. I still enjoy streetpass on games, but no longer have to deal with the flood at the gates. It's a shame, because I actually enjoy some of the puzzle art. I guess I could just ignore the other games and only do puzzles.

It is funny how the Monarchs goal seems ever further away despite being closer than ever.

I also discovered on streetpass quest 2 secret quest how to beat curse gas. You can buy a potion to dispel it for 2 play coins (remember all potion purchases use up that Miis turn). If I'd known sooner I'd be on playthrough 6 already (hopefully I routed it right to only need to do 10 playthroughs).

I also rotated some games. Deleted MK7, SM3DL, NSMB2 and Fire Emblem (full for ages, never use those) and with room added Pokemon Link battle (either nobody I have passed uses the favorite Pokemon setting or it does not work at all, I like seeing others progress though) and Dead or Alive dimensions (the throwdown mode seems like even more of a grind than the stupid monarchs)

I finished Warrior's Way (did 2 playthroughs), 10M army size, got all of the accomplishments except for 1 (I think it is beating 300 monarchs is the only one left or something like it). Not going to bother.

On Monster Manor, I'm on floor 33. Not really bothering to try to fill the floor up with pieces. Just want to battle the monsters and find the stairs quickly. I have 5 S-level weapons with Dragon's Breath being my favorite. Currently trying to max level up Sonic Surprise.

In Flower Town, I have about 37 out of 80 breeds. Is there any particular strategy to get new breeds? I just look for seeds that have the highest probability of a new breed (50% or greater). Is there any strategy for getting seeds with higher new breed probability?

Currently doing the Secret Quest for Find Me II. I think I have done 3 out of the 6-7 paths.

With the puzzle, I have around 1013 pieces with about 100 to go.

I get occasional Rusty Real Deal Baseball streetpasses. Have around 34 total with about 5 of them having high scores. I'm still the ranking champ with Bat Master. I have high scores for other games (not the best) so I always wonder what it's like for others to streetpass me to see scores pop up for almost every game.

I'm continuing to use Home Pass. I'm usually sitting on some mac address for the Red Mii Shirt (range 4E:53:50:4F:43:00-0F). I will change the MacID once or twice per day. I usually get the same 6-7 Miis. It would be nice to see some new ones. PM me if you use HomePass and would like to Street Pass with me. I would enjoy getting some new Rusty scores to show up.

Really struggle to get Streetpass hits here in the UK. Took my 3DS out to London over the weekend and still only managed TWO hits! I expected to get a load of people, such a shame.

This is very odd indeed. Given there are about 50 million Nintendo Zones in your average city (there is a dated map here) you should have connected with one of them.

What was your 3DS cased in? Some cases are quite good at blocking signals.

Wild 3DS streetpasses are pretty rare but Nintendo Zone relay ones are common. It could also be your firmware/mii plaza is outdated...

Some games might be causing problems (there is thought some slots it won't work on), a known one with Mii plaza can be fixed by changing your outfit.

Check seed shapes with offspring. %s are bullshit. A high% won't grow into an offspring at all if their shape is wrong.

As for better %s, getting plants off people you have passed before increases changes of the rainbows and butterfly effects (I think one of these is 3 possible offsprings and the other is anywhere on the colour wheel rather than the bits you passed through).

I recommend looking into HomePass. I used an old Linksys WRT54G running DD-WRT for myself and the kids. Works great. There are other options but this worked best for me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - I don't understand why people would even want to cheat the system that way. Is it in any way gratifying when you trivialize any achievement you earn instead of genuinely finding people out and about? It seems once you get to that point you're basically ripping out everything that makes Streetpassing so special.

I thought it was the chance of your offspring being different from that of its parent, not bypassing the color wheel.

No case, left it in my wife's handbag. I also make a point of changing the Mii outfit every time I go out after experiencing the hat glitch and not picking up any Streetpass hits for over a year. Firmware and plaza both up to date too.

II'll have to have another look at the map but I'm sure I've been to the likes of McDonald's and never had a hit.

I think these folks just want to get the maximum experience out of their software by collecting everything. They don't care how they get it. They get enjoyment out of booting their DS up every day and spending time doing all the mini-games and just being satisfied in having XXXX/XXXX puzzle pieces.

It may be the same reason people use cheat codes. They would use a game shark or hack to do it if possible. Or, maybe, even pay for microtransactions.

I just felt a little sad reading that some people are actually encouraging and enabling their children to cheat as well.

Been almost 6 whole months. I finally streetpassed with someone who also had monster manor. I got my first puzzle box to complete...wooo....Too bad I didn't get anything good.

I live in a suburb and drive to another suburb for work, both towns are west of Boston. According to the streetzone map, there's a single relay in my town which is a McDonalds. I don't ever eat there. Ditto for the town I work in. So if I didn't use Homepass, I wouldn't bother with these streetpass games. If Nintendo had setup an agreement with Comcast to use their hotspots instead of AT&T, I think it would be easier in the US as many people have Comcast for their ISP and one would frequently see the hotspot when walking about.

If you think having a hotspot is cheating, I don't disagree and I don't care. I'm not going to be driving to McDonalds and it's very infrequent that I go to a Home Depot. By having a homepass, I get to experience the fun of these games that I wouldn't ordinarily get because of my location. I'll play these games for 15-20 minutes a day until I tire of them and move on to something else.

The whole intention behind the relays was to encourage people to take their 3DS with them, away from their homes. Allying with a provider of home Internet services is directly contrary to that goal.

I live and work in suburbs too (without even the benefit of being near such a large Streetpass hub like Boston, even), and I did just fine before the relays. I've long finished everything there is to obtain on the NA 3DS but I still get excited when I get one piece closer to finishing the Japanese-only content on the other - since I can only get that content from other Japanese 3DSes I have no expectation of ever finishing it all short of taking a trip to Japan, but there's no replacement for achieving the near-impossible. I did a good fistpump when I finally found someone with the last Darumeshi Sports Shop puzzle piece I needed while I was in Vegas.

I live in a suburb with 26k people and I take public transit to go to university in the city. I get a decent amount of Streetpasses, at least 1-2 when I have a class, and sometimes 10 when I take the bus or the train during rush hour. It's uncommon that I get none. Even when I commute only within my suburban area, I get one. I'm not thinking about using Homepass because it would ruin the fun. Every encounter feels special to me, even if they were acquired after a quick stop at McDonalds.

Now that you mention it, Homepass may actually be harming the experience for legit streetpass users, as less people will be inclined to take their 3DS out if they can just max out their limit by sitting at home.

I once took my 3DS with me across the USA/Canada border and I got a streetpass just from waiting in the car at customs.

I'm new to Puzzle Swap and I was wondering why I don't have the Mega Man puzzle. I'm in North America and I just updated my console. I don't have it. I have several uncompleted puzzles, though. Is that a factor?

Thus far we've only seen it turn up on JP and EU machines.

And LO, pull 3DS out of bag, and Blue Light is on saying new puzzle.

You'll only get a piece for the latest puzzle if you've 'unlocked' all previous puzzles, otherwise you'll just get a random piece from a puzzle you don't have yet.

New puzzle? Nice. I was almost halfway collecting them all but this just moved me backwards. I hope I collect them all before the successor comes out.
