3DS Streetpass Experiences

At PAX East, I'm up to like 475 puzzle pieces now. Motherfuckers released Real Deal baseball to spite me! Very few people have it updated so far.
 
Do you guys who are still working on a bunch of puzzle boards have any sort of strategy for getting pieces (besides obviously prioritizing the pink ones)? I feel like the first pieces that I should check should be the ones of the last few puzzles since people are usually less likely to have pieces for those yet, and then after that I just go for the puzzles of games that I think are cool (Xenoblade Chronicles for instance). When my puzzles start filling out more and I'm close to finishing one, I'll probably turn my focus to that so my coin pieces won't get wasted.
 
I just got the new puzzle panel earlier today. Makes me want to cry. I don't think I'll ever complete them all hahaha
I'm going to wait before purchasing anymore mii plaza games also. I feel so overwhelmed with the puzzles!

EDIT: I don't think I have a strategy really. I go for the pink pieces, and then go for the more bare boards so that when I redeem my play coins I hopefully have a better chance getting a piece I don't have. (I don't think it works haha)

I definitely concentrated on the newest puzzles first before finishing-off with the early ones.
 
Morning update, I'm at 837/1073. I'll definitely make it today. The only thing I'm worried about is since everyone is away from home, most people didn't get the Real Deal Baseball update yet. I'm missing just 1 pink piece from it

I just had my first 'THE STREETPASS CAME FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE' incident.

And at 130am on a Monday morning too. Creepy.

So NA Rusty's currently appears as the very rightmost puzzle on a USA 3DS, right? If not then it is the same slot even if the picture is different.

I try to avoid whatever piece the cursor defaults to under the theory that most people will mash A through this and as such get the piece the cursor is defaulted to will be more likely found in the future. Maybe that is over reading it but I feel it is more important for the pink pieces when they are initially propagating.

I doubt anyone has figured it out but if you always pick the piece the cursor is on (and the other person has a complete panel and yours is empty) the puzzle will complete in a certain order and so trying to be furthest from the default might help get more in the future.

As for pink piece order...IIRC it is like this

Yeah that wasn't much help at all. But you at home with the 2 systems and the second system with firmware >4.5 (don't waste a firmware 4.5 system on this experiment...) could format the spare system and work out the pink order. It will only take 3 days. Then again if too many people know the system kind of defeats the purpose of going contrary to the system as that becomes the system...
 
I live in New Mexico & somehow have a streetpass from the UK. Who in the UK looked over his options for possible vacation spots for the summer & decided the Albuquerque Comic Expo was the place to be?

After a week of patience I finally got the red 5-square U-shaped piece I was waiting for and I was able to reap the benefit area I had sowed on level 48. I got ~7 gold chests which yielded 2 high level "Windkeeper's Fury"s. I was able to combine them with those already in my possession to create an S-Rank Level-3-Skill (Recovery) Max-Level 30 "Windkeeper's Fury". It was only level 25 at the time but it was easy enough to get it to level 30 from there.

Has anyone tried to make a fully-maxed level 30 weapon? If so, I am curious to know which weapon you chose and what skill.

Um...define "Fully-maxed"? I have a Level 30 Dragon's Breath with Combo Level 3.


Managed to finish off Rusty at PAX East, which was nice. Sitting at 15200 streetpasses after that as well, which is not a bad number. Still 4800 to go until the next accomplishment. -_-

Dear God, that's amazing! Congrats for finishing Rusty's panel. I only have two pieces so far for Rusty.

Currently I have 144 streetpasses and 187/1073 puzzle pieces. I've got a LONG way to go!
 
Damn. I have no idea how to even get up to 1000. I'm barely at 200 streetpases in a month. I'll have to walk all over the damn place to learn where the good spots are around here where I live.
 
Can anyone explain me EXACTLY what streetpass on the Pokemon Battle Trozei does ?


I just got a new support pokemon looking at the data and I am not understanding anything

That sounds okay to me.

You have to go to conventions or events in order to get the huge numbers.

Or cheat.
 
I tried to get the Riilay app to work on Android for like 4 hours now and nothing works

streetpass in Uruguay = lol

wish I could get it to work
 
Man people on podcasts always say nobody street passes in the US. I've been street passing a good amount. More than I ever thought I would. Probably nowhere near Japan levels but for a grown man who only goes to places where there are mainly other adults such as work, I've been doing pretty good.

I think it's more to do with the fact that it's not changing my phone's MAC address or something.. im not using my main phone since I dont really wanna root it

what would the cloud thing do? and would I have to leave it on as in, sleep mode, streetpassing and connected all the time?

I understand that European SSIDs like _The Cloud are rigged to give you 6 Mii plaza hits regardless of if anyone has actually passed them, 8 hour cooldown still applies. I don't think it helps for other games.

As a result you don't need to change MAC addresses for it to work.

alright. Trying it, but im not in Europe, does it matter?

its showing up as if im at a Nintendo Zone but it did that with Riilay as well and no streetpasses
 
well im having another issue altogether which is that according to my phone's tethering the 3DS completely loses connection to _The Cloud once I put it on sleep mode

mh.. I *think* this is normal but the problem comes from the fact that my phone's tethering turns off is there's no device connected to it after a while

200 a month!? I've had a 3DS since launch and I just got the 777 achievement and that includes a two week holiday in Japan.

This was the first month I owned it.

How maps are there total? I have the US, Canada, Japan, and the Netherlands is my most recent streetpass.
 
I'm yet to have one streetpass in my fortnight of owning a 3DS.

Drove across the city and back today. I need animal crossing passes dang it!

Oh, I thought I had explained this in my previous post. I mean S-Rank 30/30 with a level 3 skill. What I'm curious to know is what weapon/skill combinations that people chose to max out and why. The reason I phrase the question this way is that you can only carry over one weapon so I assume that most people who have played all the way through have one specific beastly weapon.

So yes, your weapon qualifies.

To both of you, I'm curious to know what your stats are. This should make for an especially interesting comparison since, with the possible exception of the attack and defense, your weapons are identical.

Also, did you deliberately try to get 'Combo' on the weapon or did you just end up with it? There are lots of skills to choose from.

As I said above, I maxed out a "Windkeeper's Fury" on my previous run and now I'm trying to determine which weapon/skill I want to try to get to level 30 this time. I'm just playing for puzzle boxes at this point so it's nice to have something additional to focus on.

You do, but on the same note, getting streetpasses is getting easier and easier as more people get 3DS handhelds. You'll get there!

To clarify, do you mean acknowledged countries, or do you mean countries that actually have geographical maps?

Nah, a gold chest I opened happened to have Combo, and that was a good enough ability that I just fit two other Dragon's Breaths into it.

...argh. I cannot pull up my stats unless I restart the game...sorry.
 
The mansion weapon I went for is a Windbag of Woe with random shot level 2. Don't remember max level.

I also maxed a Drill of Doom (critical hit), Abominable Snowgun (something crap like reflect), N-1 Plasma Rifle (Shock), Dragon Destroyer (?burn?).

I found electric and fire weapons kind of crappy. Fire had low batteries and electric were slow to charge.

Many countries have no maps but any country which has an eShop and thus can agree to the terms is a potential streetpass.

This means most of the countries you can select on a European 3DS (much of Africa, bits of Europe including those small bits like Isle of Man and Gibraltar) can't be used for that (instead of the terms coming up it refuses to launch the software). Also whoever set the provinces is just ugh. Ireland gets all its counties. The UK on the other hand, England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland is all you get...you know we have counties too...makes the map easy to compete (still took ages to get Northern Ireland) but its unrewarding.

...I've had Northern Ireland since last PAX Prime. I just don't have WALES.

And yeah, I don't know who the heck was doing the region breakdown.

I'm always surprised whenever I see the UK map come up. I had to work my butt off to get all 52 regions in the US for the accomplishment, and Japan seems to have it worse. UKers have it ridiculously easy in comparison.

Quickly scrolling through mine, I see the following with maps. Not an exhaustive list:
  • United States
  • Australia
  • France
  • Italy
  • United Kingdom
  • Japan
  • Canada
Note not all these regions had maps at launch; Australia definitely had no map to start.

Heh I wasn't smart enough to have a strategy or anything, I did just rely on luck and brute forced my way through.
Probably could've made it way easier on myself in retrospect but it wasn't that bad.
The final colour was the worst, grew about twenty seperate plants to finally get it!
