3DS Streetpass Experiences

Yeah I'm asking about which countries get geographical maps in the 3DS. Four I mentioned are the ones I have.

Okay, the start, going to the right on my 3DS:

United States
Australia
France
Germany
Italy
Netherlands
Spain
United Kingdom
Japan
Canada

I think this MAY be all of the ones currently with a map. (We could always check the wiki) I'm still surprised Brazil and Poland don't. (Also, Northwest Territories is preventing me from having a complete Canada...)

Holy shiiieeettt!
How many accomplishments do you have all together?

Heh I wasn't smart enough to have a strategy or anything, I did just rely on luck and brute forced my way through.
Probably could've made it way easier on myself in retrospect but it wasn't that bad.
The final colour was the worst, grew about twenty seperate plants to finally get it!

79. I'm at something like 560 Fantastics, and SLOWLY getting up there. (This is one of those things that would be easier if I had a second 3DS.) Other than that, it's just streetpass count milestones.

And yeah, getting every color can be annoying. After a certain point, I just kept shoving "favorite colors" in and hoping that it was closer to the color that I didn't have than a color that I did. The worst thing though was getting a tall plant for that last mission. Took so many damn tries.

To both of you, I'm curious to know what your stats are. This should make for an especially interesting comparison since, with the possible exception of the attack and defense, your weapons are identical.

Also, did you deliberately try to get 'Combo' on the weapon or did you just end up with it?

Nah, it just happened to be the best weapon I found. Oh actually, it has Critical Shot; I misremembered : P

Stats are 233 / 151.

I just turned off the wifi on my 3DS to get the "First Streetpass tag in a while" accomplishment, doesn't anyone know how long you have to go?

My local hotspot, which has consistently provided 6 passes every 8 hours since relays were upgraded, is now only spitting out 3. It has done for the past 3 days. Very annoying.

If he's set on getting that accomplishment quickly I imagine he should just change the system time.

I remember there being multiple tiers of that accomplishment; is 30 days for the maximum tier?

There's 7 days and then 30 days.

Don't remember the wording off-hand though. While and Long While?

When do I start finding the good weapons in Monster Manor? I'm on floor 18
Silver and gold chests. How do you get those? Build large rooms. By build I mean when you put a piece down to form the resulting room will be large. Here is an example of how you should try to form rooms like this.
Code:
###
#0#
###
The # are pieces of the same colour while the 0 is empty. When you get a single piece of that right colour fill in the room.

3x3 might be enough for gold but only if there are no green spaces or miis in the formed room (bronze and silver are still better than wooden and iron). 5x5 is overkill but gets tonne of gold chests. But since it requires a floor with lots of a space and a specific 5 piece to form it is a bit hard to form. Using the 1,2 or 3 pieces is safer (use the same principle as above only the make the bit you don't fill in fit a piece of those sizes).

Expanding an existing room will only give more crappy wooden chests, it has to be formed. A thing to bear in mind is you should use cleared forms to place down rooms because otherwise you might end up with the stairs being on the gap preventing progress in the game (well as in you have to keep dismissing people, this is done by trying to place their pieces on a floor where they can't fit such a fully filled one).

Good post. I didn't figure this stuff out fully until I had reached level 20 or so.

This. Don't get bogged down trying to perfect rooms as you are going through. Just try to finish floors and then use cleared floors for crafting. You should get lucky every once in a while and end up with a large empty spaces that you can use for room creation.

I have a second 3DS (OG and XL) so I have the benefit of getting a different 5-piece red delivered to me every day (or more if I want to get into Street Pass more than that). Even then, I have sometimes had to wait more than a week to get the right piece to complete one of these rooms after building the outline. Again, use cleared floors or else you will grind your progress to a halt.

Here are some other shapes to go for:

Both of these shapes will yield 12 Chests, up to 8 of which will be gold. Every chest you get after the first 4 will be gold, but green orbs and Miis will eat into your gold chest count.

All of the best weapons can only be found in gold chests. You can find a list here:

Cool! Thanks for indulging my curiosity.

My "Windkeeper's Fury" is at 224/154.

My assumption had been that fire weapons have higher stats to compensate for their limited battery count and that your 30/30 Dragon Destroyer would have much better Attack / Defense numbers than my 30/30 "Windkeeper's Fury". Oh well, I guess I need to gather more data.

On a few floors you should be able to set these shape in rooms that already have low level chests and a green orb, eliminating green orbs from the equation, and reducing the chances/number of low level chests. I often set pieces that yield 1-2 bronze chests, 2 silver chests, and the rest gold.

That is a shape that gets me particularly good results.

I would only use that shape if the 2x2 block is a given floor's start square. Otherwise, it would be better to leave the top left piece blank or a different color.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the state of that corner might not matter in terms of how many item spots that particular created room shape reveals. Regardless, the optimal case is if you can use the start square as that corner.

StarCreator is right. If it is the start square you will get 12 chests (or Mii/Orb) and if it is not you will get 11. Unless it is the start square, you already you have gotten a chest for that square in building that shape. The two examples I posted above both result in a full 12.

That said, different floors offer opportunities for the crafting of different sized rooms. Also, it is never a bad idea to diversify your gap building on different floors so as to allow for the cashing-in of blocks of different shapes and colors.

I get a streetpass with this one guy pretty often, and often at strange hours. I suspect it's my neighbour directly beneath me, but it probably isn't. He only ever plays Face Raiders. I've got maybe 40 streetpasses from him, and two personal messages. One was our thirteenth streetpass, in which the message was just "13". The second was today: "Vaginas are strange". Okay, dude.

Generally, I do it in really big rooms where that shape might be fully surrounded by room, and not just single piece lines/corridors. Don't forget that a room already being big when you add pieces helps you get better chests.

Lmao.
I had one streetpass from someone I cross a lot (no idea who) and he wrote "My D in your V". I got a good chuckle, but I think I'll be watching my back now.

Edit: Also received my first fantastic rating :) yay!

I'm fairly certain that's not true. Adding to a large room piecemeal has never yielded me better rewards than making very small rooms.

Adding to a larger room doesn't make much of a difference but there are a few exceptions. The only thing that really matters is that there can only be one green orb per room, so it can be useful to try to create smaller rooms next to whatever large room you are creating before you harvest it. If you don't do this, you will almost certainly get a green orb in the new large room and this will result in a yield of one less gold chest.

There are a number of other nuances that you can read about at the top of this page:

I just did my first large harvest of my second playthrough of Monster Manor and the weapons are so crappy! I was hoping that my first gold chests would give me something. Nope. Out of 5 gold chests, the only gold-tier weapon I got was a Creamy-Carbine/I-Scream with no skill. The other gold chests just gave me items and badges that I don't need.

Oh well, I have a few other large rooms brewing.

Question: Does your inventory size increase on your second playthrough? I used to keep one of each weapon type plus two badges, but now I have room for 3 badges in my inventory. I don't know if I'm just being stupid of if I've stumbled upon something.

I have different Jojo's bizarre adventure lines as my greeting and only one person has returned the sentiment. And I have no freaking clue when I streetpass them to try and say hi or something.

Keep in mind you can't set a personal message until the second meeting, so at the soonest you would not see a response until the third meeting.

Rating someone with Fantastic is like .... I don't know

Asking if a guest wants a cup of water or saying yes on greenlight for a game a friend made.

It is like ... common decency

Do you have to open your 3DS like every 5 minutes at a gaming convention like PAX? I feel like that 10 Mii limit for the gate would fill up in a heartbeat.

Not quite that quick, but it happens alot that you fill back up while you're playing StreetPass games.

Sometimes it takes a bit because it seems like almost everybody is full at times.

Or if you're smashing buttons to make the dialogue go faster, an accidental "okay" slips by. :
Oh man. I feel so bad when that happens.

I've travelled to London today, and it appears as though every Nintendo Zone I pass through only dishes out 3 passes. I'm beginning to think it might be my 3DS....

At PAX the gate was often full again before you finished all the greetings from the previous group if you were anywhere other than the expo hall. You would definitely be missing people if you only checked on five minute intervals.

Not sure if posted already, but I just checked Nintendo's Nintendo Zone Map, and it looks like all Burger Kings are official zones now. Will try it when I get a chance.

Indeed, a quick search says Burger King has adopted AT&T as their Wi-Fi provider, which makes them all Nintendo Zones by default.

completed the Rusty puzzle earlier today. now to wait for the next puzzle.

And I finished my first go-around of Warrior's Way. I already knew that the final boss would have over double my army and was so sure that I was gonna get my butt kicked, but luckily I took him out in one fight. Which is a relief lol. Already in the second run. Can't wait to see what lies ahead

Had my 3DS in my pocket last week since... a while. Streetpassed 20 + Mii's. Never happened on one day lol. Someone from Germany and the UK were amongst them. Didn't encounter someone from another country before that, pretty cool.

I noticed this a few days ago as well and I don't think they are activated yet. I have been to 5 burger kings in the past 2 days and I did not get the Nintendo Zone is available here notification in any of the burger kings.

You need to cut down on the amount of fast food you're eating.

I always rate everyone fantastic, but I've received only two fantastic ratings for myself. I guess I'm not that special, lol.

Got 4 streetpasses this morning while me and the hubs went out for breakfast. I'll be leaving for the airport in a few hours, I'm hoping I'll get a bunch and from different regions.

JP 3DS got a plaza software update. Couldn't find a difference in behavior, anyone know what changed? It was important enough that I got a SpotPass notification for it.

Japanese wiki is yet to have any info on that front (they don't seem to have a firmware section that I could find anway but no recent changes of that nature). I did however find a list of countries including which ones get a map. So assuming it is correct, Ireland does not get a map (enjoy your 26 regions) and the only map that has ever been added is Australia.

I believe the text mentions that most of the European, any of the African and Central Asian countries are impossible to get passes from (no way to agree to wireless communications required for eShop and Streetpass) but does not state which ones these are. African one is slightly wrong. South Africa has an eShop so should work.

Russia is the hardest country to complete with 83 regions. Coming in second place is Turkey with 81. Yes both countries have eShops (though the Turkish one only has patches, Swapnote, Nintendo Video and Youtube).
