3DS Streetpass Experiences

I thought this was known already, but Starbucks are slowly switching all their locations from AT&T to Google Wi-Fi. Most of the locations around me have already switched and therefore are no longer Streetpass relays.

Explains why I don't get Streetpasses at Barnes and Noble anymore...

McDonald's it is, I guess!

I finally got a rare streetpass. Someone with nothing for the last used software. No idea how you manage to do that, delete play records possibly?

Surprised to get 5 Kirby pieces on my first trip out to streetpass.
I managed to get 3 (when I was on 27 pieces too) and thing is those passes were all before I had the puzzle (including 2 pink). Distribution, how does that work?

The next 10 I got all had nothing (but maybe it is my completion, could also be distribution). I've got another 9 to go through...

Is getting a rare streetpass an accomplishment, or is it just something you noticed while playing?

Why don't the messages have the upper case for the greek alphabet? Kind of ruins the alpha omega thing I had going (most people think of the upper case horeshoe as omega and not the lower case w).

Its just something I noticed on the plaza. Seeing a Mii holding up nothing (last played software was blank) stands out. I was just wondering if anyone figured out how that could happen.

I'm getting pretty close to stopping with the plaza games. Getting the last flower is too much for me.

And now I have managed to completely max-out my Bravely Default town (999) there's another title to deactivate.

Lean times.

I wonder if we will see/get something new for the plaza at E3.
As far as I know the 4 games where a pretty successful experiment for Nintendo.

Apparently the Nintendo zone list was updated with the latest firmware. No idea what SSIDs were added (or removed *whimper*) though.

In other news it seems one of my local zones which used to give me 6+3 now only gives me 3. Ah well.

38/40 on the Kirby puzzle and they 2 left are regular pieces. Oh I should have spent more play coins on it (I hate getting "New travelers 10 New pieces 1".

Only if you need the slot. Theres nothing wrong with helping other people max out thier Bravely Default towns (unless having to delete the queue when it fills is a serious bother). Its like how people stop streetpassing once they clear puzzle swap, it just makes it harder for remaining players to do so.

That means that the person hasn't played a title other than StreetPass Mii Plaza after activating StreetPass. This could mean they either just got their system, or they could have simply deactivated and reactivated StreetPass for StreetPass Mii Plaza for some reason and haven't played another title since.

They had a few hundred hits and plaza so this one seems likely. Mystery solved.

I should hopefully finish the Kirby puzzle today. And this is without coins.

I'm accumulating coins at the moment. Probably time for a big blow-out.

Heading to Japan tomorrow.

I better have all puzzles complete on both (US & JP) systems AND 100 tags in a day by the time I get back. I'm going to Tokyo Disneyland ffs!

I sure wish grocery stores had Nintendo Streetpass zones. I spend more time (and money) in grocery stores than any other kind of business.

We just moved to a new apartment and one of our neighbors has a 3DS. Now that he's leveled up, his Mii can really kick butt in Find Mii ][. So that's nice.

Don't lose hope on the last flower, you will get it, and you'll be satisfied when you do. You can tell Mendel to fuck off for good once you've done it, and I know that will make you feel better.

Went to Boston and Amherst last week, got this guy twice on the way back, once in the airport and again on the plane apparently:

I also got someone from Nintendo when departing LAX...then screwed up on the special puzzle piece she had and skipped it on accident somehow. That sucked.

so I'm going to manchester in the uk tomorrow and going to try and see what the fuss is about for the first time. sorry for what might well be a dumb query.

do I need to connect to the wifi in these relay places and then put my system back in sleep mode to make use of this feature, or will it just do this automatically while in sleep mode.

It'll connect automatically. However some games disable internet mode such as 3DS sound. I think some of the resident evil games disable all wireless communcation. So stay on the system menu with nothing open for maximum chances.

You should be good to go in any major UK city. Between Costa, Greggs, and McDonalds you'll be filling the queue in no time.

I went to the Georgia Renaissance Festival yesterday and decided to throw my 3DS in the pocket of my costume. When I got home I noticed I had 10 StreetPasses. I probably should have been checking it while I was there. I could have gotten a lot more!

How grindy are the purchasable streetpass games? Reading reviews of the 4, the flower game definitely seems the least appealing to me.
I bought the complete pack (I'm a sucker for a discount) and quickly realized that playing all six streetpass games (two built-in and four add-on) took waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time. So I've decided to complete one add-on game at a time. I'm working on Warrior's Way (and Puzzle Swap and Find Mii 2). I probably won't finish all the add-on games before the 3DS is replaced with a new model. Sigh.

I saw this coming when I got my 3ds realizing we were what, 3 or 4 years into its life span. I only bought one game, the haunted Manor.

Good game. I only wish I got an ambassador DS to transfer to an XL. I wish I had those gba games.

I finally got all of the breeds for Flower Town! These are my updated goals for Mii Plaza:

-Get all the accomplishments (which should happen about 3.7 eternities from now)
-Finish each puzzle as they come in
-Grow all the flower colors (probably actually easier than getting the final few breeds)
-Get the final two Plaza Tickets in Warrior's Way so that I can finally stop playing that awful game

By the way, the only accomplishments I have left are getting 100 Streetpasses in a day, getting 1,000 fantastic ratings, meeting a person from every US state, and the raw number of Streetpasses. Simple, right? =P

1,000 fantastic ratings sounds ridiculous. Way more than any other accomplishment. Even 100 in a day is easily possible if you go to PAX or something.

Japanese 3DS is one(!) Monster Hunter pink piece from puzzle completion. I've also completely finished out Find Mii on that machine, so not entirely sure what I'll be doing with that one till more puzzles are released lol.

40 monarchs to go. Filled up to 10 people in Ikebukuro Sunshine City and TOTALLY forgot to check the queue for three hours. Whoops. Zero monarchs. Pffft.

Hmmm.. that doesn't sound terribly encouraging. I do like the excitement of finding new hats though.

I find Warriors way is actually the shortest one (the gardening would be if Mendel did not talk *sigh*) to play. Also the hardest to complete the tickets for. A year on and I'm just over halfway through the ridiculous fight 300 monarchs.

I completed Mansion and puzzle swap, have all tickers for the flowers (but deciding to go for 80 breeds)

How long does it take to fill your queue? If you're filling it once a day it will take up a fair amount of time but if it is once every 4 days you can spread out playing the games.

Had to go to Home Depot so I threw my 2DS in the car and there was a Nintendo Zone somewhere around there, got 3 Style Savvy and 1 Disney Magical World street passes. I think it might have been a Burger King that had the access point. This is extremely mundane but it's the first time I've street passed.

ALL JAPANESE PUZZLES COMPLETE!
So jealous T_T I was all happy to get just one Monster Hunter 4 pink piece a couple months ago lol

A friend with a JP 3DS visited Japan recently but it turns out he didn't bother to do any Puzzle Swap while over there T_T

Home Depot is one of the most reliable sources of relay passes around here. Burger King should work as a relay too assuming their AT&T Wi-Fi service is up and running.

It seems like your question is well answered at this point but I'm going to offer my 2 cents as well.

None of the games are super gameplay intensive. I would almost liken the experience of playing them to games like Animal Crossing, Picross, or even mobile games like clash of the clans (minus micro transactions). I have been chipping away at all of them since they were released. It can be fun and relaxing to churn out your streetpass haul at the end of a long day. If you've already been playing Find Mii then you know what you're getting into with the others. If you're looking for games to sit down and play for extended gaming sessions then you are looking in the wrong place.

Flower Town - I'm not totally sure of what you mean by "grindy" but flower definitely has the least gameplay. There is some technique to learn but it mostly feels random. All of the flowers are nicely designed and there are a lot of them and a lot of variations within the breeds. It is mostly about collecting breeds, but there are also 'jobs' that require you to submit specific flowers. I would say that this one feels the most like a bite-sized version of Animal Crossing.

Monster Manor - This one has a little more gameplay (it has simple battles) but it's main focus is a loot/crafting system. Like all of the games, there are nuances that you will learn over the weeks that you spend with it. Again, not heavily gameplay intensive but I liked this one a lot. It can be very satisfying to build the perfect room and get a great kernel of a rare weapon that you can building into something special.

Mii Force - The only one that is purely gameplay based. This is a very competent shooter and I had a blast with it. You can beat most of the levels with 3-4 Miis, but it can drag a bit towards the endgame as you will really need to have full loads of 10 Miis to execute competent runs.

Warrior's Way - Presented as a strategy game but it basically just boils down to number puzzles to decide how to set up your troops. I had fun with this for a time but in hindsight it seems a little basic. This one more than any of the others is about the fun of harvesting Miis and watching your army grow.

I couldn't disagree with this more. You need 500-1000 street passes (rough numbers) to complete each of the games and you will kick yourself if you have to do that 4 times over. I would recommend buying them all and then just skipping some of them at different times if you aren't in the mood to play them. It's better to have the option. Sometimes you will want to spend an hour playing all of them at once, sometimes you will have to spend 5 minutes merely checking your puzzle pieces. In the time that I have been playing these games, I have found that I always ended up wanting to play through all of the games at least a few times a week.

Don't let it become a chore, just play them when you are in the mood. These are games after all.

What are special Miis? People that work at Nintendo? I encountered a couple people like that here in Paris and I think the light was blue for these...

The Miis that are sent through SpotPass also count as Special Miis. I got the "Encounter 10 Special Miis" accomplishment when I got Fils-A-Mech.

They're visually distinguishable for their shiny golden pants.
