3DS Streetpass Experiences

Totally tired of having my 3DS with me in town & always getting barely any passes in a day, i have finally decided to build a spillpass. I have all the plaza games but barely play them as i never get anyone & using play coins feels like a hollow experience.

Considering i import from Japan & i live in the UK i have no chance of getting passes for the games i own unless im near a relay so im happy to cheat the system with a homepass generator especially one that fires out so many in a short space of time.
Streetpasses are generally region free. Of course to get a pass from a European player the game does need to be out there.

Anyway, I find some places have so many Nintendo zones that I max out the plaza hits by accident and have to go out of my way to avoid them. In any case the only good way to get hits is Nintendo zones and to be honest I feel homepass is just as legit as walking into McDonalds or loitering outside of Pizza Hut in that respect. Remember European SSIDs* are preferred for homepass as I don't know if the US ones ever got the 6 hits for Mii Plaza thing going or not.

I seems the real life passes I got are mostly for Pokemon XY (which I only keep active as a sacrificial slot as I hear the last activated game, the one in the top-left corner doesn't always work with Nintendo zones) as in players have not even bothered to activate Mii Plaza.

*-There is a partial list here: 3dbrew.org/wiki/Nintendo_Zone edit: seems to be down, hopefully google cache works: http://webcache.googleusercontent.c.../wiki/Nintendo_Zone+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

So you may be very aware that the plaza can hold 3000 Mii (hece why it says over 3000 if you get that far). You might not be aware that this limit is broken down like so: Streetpass - 1000, Met by Invitation - 2000 (oddly, the usually detailed operations guide certainly did not)..
So now for part 2 of this. I let 8 people into the gate, 4 were repeats. This gave me a plaza total of 1001 so I should have 1 met by invitation going by the above. Nope, I have none. Even after restarting the software (as I was thinking the 997 there on software launch already loaded).

My guess is next batch through the gate will start turning them into met by invitation.

I constantly see this thread posted and am still confused. I haven't had a streetpass in at least a year (maybe 2?). The only pass I had before that was when I had my original 3DS in sleep mode (instead of turning it off) and it accidently streetpassed. I live in a pretty big city too (compared to places nearby). Where are you guy getting all of these passes from?

i live in Hamburg, Germany, and i get around 2-5 hits if i go out of the house.

When i was in Japan, i had to empty 3-4times a day.... also went to a lot of conventions so i already have almost all 1080 pieces. But i dont play this Find The Crown game and i still dont have more than 50% of all the hats... which sucks... how do you guys get all the hats?

also the nintendo zone link does not work...

what is that again? never used that.

Nintendo zones as they now serve as streetpass relays. You didn't say where you were from but in Europe, Japan and USA many free wi-fi hotspots also serve as these and the Nintendo websites do have (somewhat outdated) maps of these.

Australia has none, I don't know if free wi-fi is big over there or if it is a matter of NCL hasn't given Tom his permission slip to ask for it to be added.

The English names for that are Find Mii and Streetpass Quest. The first game was linear so beating it 3 times gets all the hats from that. That then unlocks the sequel which contains a number of branching pathways and the option to re-hire Miis which is very useful (level 7 Miis for 9 coins, yes please). The sequel also has a pair up ability where two Miis can attack at once (their level being the sum of their levels plus one) and do four attacks instead of three if their colours match. There are also potions which be used to repress enemy abilities and bring back 3 people who have already fought. The sequel does eventually unlock the secret quest which gets you into this mess:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/625899-streetpass-mii-plaza/faqs/67495
Having two level 7 miis of the same colour really helps tear though that (hire 2 wanders, 2 level 7s, idea is to attack with level 7s and use the wanderer to buy a potion to bring them back) though it burns through play coins really quickly.

Yeah sorry seems that wiki is down; don't know if google cache links work:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.c.../wiki/Nintendo_Zone+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk

It is more a useful document if you want to make one in your own home.

I live in Canada. Theoretically I should be passing by the McDonald's Nintendo Zone every bus ride to work, but I haven't had any Streetpasses.

The broadcast strength is not very strong on a 3DS, it is likely you have to set foot inside the store.

The 3DS still may detect the hotspot though which is misleading as it will be out of range to interact with it.

It seems better based on time. It took me standing outside McDonalds (Germany) for a bit for me to get a pass once.

Also second time, I had both mine and my wife's 3DSs with me. We briefly went inside, but only she got tags and mine remained empty.

------------

On a side note, we both managed to get someone from Saudi Arabia at either Orlando, Washington DC (connection), or Frankfurt. So now I have 2 middle east countries w/ my UAE tag I got when I lived in Tokyo. Ironically when I was in Doha, I got nothing.

Just got a new puzzle through Spotpass (in the UK).
It's Fantasy Life!
Japan doesn't have this do they? Kinda cool how Pocket Football Club and now this are seemingly specially made just for us.

Is pocket football club the one with the tiny 8bit football players in front of a goal? if it is then yeah Japan does have that one as it's on mine but i haven't come across fantasy life yet so it might not be in japan yet if at all.

Puzzle get, 3DS is charging and I'm midway through a Kid Icarus chapter so it'll be a while. Don't think I have enough play coins to get myself up to 32/40 this time.

It will be take a while to complete as I lack local access to relays anymore and the more distant ones I can access have been poor since Firmware 9.0.

So with a spare 3DS which not much progress on puzzle swap I can start the research the default piece selection (default as in person you pass has complete puzzle and you don't, what is the priority):
Code:
15 pieces
----------------
|12|06|02|07|13|
----------------
|10|03|01|04|11|
----------------
|14|08|05|09|15|
----------------
If you assume most players just mash A through this and assume the 24 and 40 piece puzzles follow the same rule a good strategy would be if you can't decide which piece to pick, pick outer ones.

I've only just started on 24 pieces and this spare 3DS only getting 2 hits a day means it will be a while. I might skip over to 40 pieces just to work out the purple pieces there.

Forgot to post about my street pass experience in Korea.

...pretty sure I got more non Koreans than Koreans while there, a few Japanese and some US and other random countries. Not terribly surprising but still a bummer. And I guess the US software doesn't have the Korean character set or something so their greeting messages were just boxes.

Oh and one other random one, either in LAX or JFK airport I got a street pass from some Nintendo employee. I hit B on accident on the special puzzle piece and it flew away?! I'll never know what she had.

The weirdest thing happened to me today. I streetpassed someone that I already had 15 times, so he must have went to school with me in SanFran. The problem is that I'm back home, miles away, searching for a job...

I don't know why, but lately I've been getting Street Passes on Smash, but not the Street Pass itself. I can't think of this sort of thing happening before :/ I would get like 10 Smash Street Passes, but then only like 7 actual people that I ran into. Until I passed people a second time and it would register in game, since I already played the mini game?

Oh hey StreetPass thread, don't see you around much anymore.

I finally caved in and bought Flower Town because I don't really play Mii Force anymore. It seems cool so far. I like that it's pretty relaxed, suits my StreetPass checking habits well.

Probably people who either have their plaza queues full or never set up plaza to begin with.

I almost wonder if it's due to people not updating their systems properly as well. Bouncing around LA yesterday I only picked up two StreetPasses and that is really low compared to other times I'm in the touristy areas.

I have grown every flower in every color.

Still have two damn jobs to gold medal.

I think I have a seed for a tall birthday plant but wtf not tall round Innocentia... STOP BEING TALL!

Finally, I got every single Plaza Ticket! No more boring Warrior's Way for me!

Woah, nice job. I actually golded all the jobs before I even bred all 80 flowers, but I still have a ways to go before getting all the colors (I think roughly 100 left).

Everytime I streetpass and see that someone else has Dillon's Rolling Western : The Last Ranger

I feel a little happy inside. I get these specifically everytime I'm either at the mall or shopping in one of the smal shops not too far from me.

Got around 10 or so Project mirai 2 passes at Miku Expo in NYC Saturday. Of course, I really wanted a stab at the Japan-only puzzles, but almost none of them also gave me a plaza hit, and the one that did had fewer pieces than I do :/

Streetpass games update:

CLEAR = Done pretty much everything there is to do. I got all plaza tickets, achievements, and saw the ending credits.

1. Find Mii 1, 2, Secret Quest CLEAR
2. Puzzle Swap CLEAR (until the next panel update)
3. Mii Force CLEAR
4. Monster Manor CLEAR (I even filled all floors.)
5. Warrior's Way (Only missing the distant warrior achievement. I'm at 215. It should take me another 6 months.)
6. Flower Town (I have all plaza tickets, all flower breeds, but I haven't completed two jobs and there are a ton of flower colours I don't have. I don't know if I'll keep playing as it's pretty tedious. When do you even see the credits in this game?)

I've always wondered, has there ever been a complete database with screenshots of all the Mii Hats you can wear? And is the unlock order specific or randomized?

Finally have achieved 580 puzzle pieces out of 1,153...just over half! That spending two coins on random puzzle pieces though is bullcrap...wasted 8 only to get pieces I already had.

Hat distribution is predetermined. It's been linked several times in thread but this is still the best guide I've seen: http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/42352/the-ultimate-streetpass-quest-guide/ (Note the guide is written for the European version of the game, and while the drop locations are the same in all regions, there are some naming differences if you are not using a European 3DS.)

I keep forgetting to check my passes for Fantasy Life puzzle pieces.

Not that many people have one.
Aye; Travellers met 7 New pieces 0. I have 14 left (8 pink)...I'm not going to make it before ORAS, am I :( Plus I'm left with the agony of not even knowing if they've started that panel or have the data.

The RNG is a total asshole in puzzle swap. I assume it does something like include pink pieces in the random selection but make them default to one you already have if it lands there. I need to do some maths sometime to think about this and record my experiences (a 40 piece with 2 normal pieces filled in would be 1/4 chance of getting a duplicate piece in my asshole mode vision).

But really for Puzzle swap using play coins are is only viable when you have one puzzle with pieces left as you don't have to contend with near complete puzzles being picked (which of course have a lower likelihood of getting new pieces than a near empty one).

Even then it tends to take a 150+ coins to have a panel at 26/40.

I cheated on my first puzzle box today :x Didn't realize there was 50 of them total (that ticket will be a pain to get... unless it's just completing all the ones you receive) but yeah I worked on it for 20 mins and ran out of free time :/ Of COURSE it was the last solution I was thinking of!!

Trying to get the gold trophy ticket too, but I have only ever seen bronze ones I think. Always hoping I run into people with blue shirts so I can cover a room, but it's been a challenge!

Used to take it to work with me, 45 minute train into London, 10-20 minutes on an Underground, twice a day. Passed thousands of people daily for months.

Not. a. hit.

So I gave up. Only time I ever got hits on it was when went to Eurogamer Expo where I hit the limit three times (more if I cleared it I'm sure), and like twice in a GAME store.

I completed the original Metroid image as well as a Kirby I think.

I wouldn't be surprised if general enthusiasm for carrying around a 3ds is waning.

The plaza is getting a bit stale.

Might have expected a little bump for Smash/Fantasy Life, though.

I found Poke Miles pointless for me... Wish it did more (especially since I have a ton of them).
If something better was impletmented, it would help I'm sure.

Almost 500 puzzle pieces out of 1100. Trying to get all the special pink ones. Apparently there are a couple of people at my university that have finished all of them.

Actually at my office we've had a GIANT upswing of 3DSes thanks for Smash.

I will look up and randomly seven extra people will be standing in my dept. hoping to tag us.

Kinda crazy,

Edit: Also suuure add a panel THE DAY AFTER I WAS AT DISNEYLAND! Thanks nintendo.

(that ticket will be a pain to get... unless it's just completing all the ones you receive)
It is an accomplishment, actually. Tickets are just for the download games.

IIRC you can trigger it by completing the initial 7 15 piece puzzles (I seem to remember clearing those plays the all puzzles complete tune).

But don't you like to play crappy flash games on the Pokemon global link web site or trade them all in for Rare candies?

Datamining of the ORAS demo suggests those games will do more. Maybe even trade secret bases (I fear its going to be a Theatrhythm situation of most people leave it on default though).

Honestly, I had fun on the OLD Global Link and collecting all the PokeDolls >_> I did manage to get them all too, before it went down :p There at least you could also get TONS of items and even catch Pokemon. When I found out about the new one I'm like "that's... it?"

(Reminds me, I should play more Curtain Call again, since I've played for a good amount of time and STILL haven't unlocked the Street Pass feature >_> Takes a lot compared to the original, apparently...)

I had the same reaction. Spent a stupid amount of time putting Pokémon to sleep and waking up with new Pokémon and stuff. Felt underappreciated.

How long does it take for a new puzzle to appear? I just finished everything up to the Kirby Fighters game today too lol.

If you're connected to the internet should appear immediately, provided you 1) open puzzle swap, 2) exit street pass plaza and return to the home screen.

Maybe if you weren't limited to ten coins a day and ten people in your queue people wouldn't get frustrated and carry it more

i'm more frustrated that since the recent update the streetpass relays don't seem to work, always carry mine around London and used to get 10 a day, now very rare to get more than 2.
