3DS Streetpass Experiences

The original idea was that you had to be in proximity with another 3DS user, which is a system that didn't really work well outside Japan. The workaround was to create the relays, which cache data from 3DSes that pass through certain hotspots. McDonalds hasn't been working as well for me recently as it used to; Home Depot seems to be the reliable choice for most people.

Wow I didn't even know Home Depot participated. Thanks for the info. My niece showed up when our 3DS were in sleep mode which is how I was able to pick up her Mii character. I also meet my nephew via Animal Crossing I think, it could be that I added him to my friend list though. What confuses me was my Mii is stuck in a cage in one of the games but only my niece who I meet via the sleep mode function showed up to fight. Any other Mii doesn't work in that mode.

Any-who, going bad to getting more people do I have to connect to their WiFi? Or just passing through while in sleep mode is enough?

Is a "hotspot" the same as a relay? I'm just looking on the UK page now for relays. Apparently there are four hotspots in my local town, not sure if they are relays though as everytime I take my 3ds into town it varies from getting 1 person, 2 people or sometimes 5 on a lucky day.

To answer my own question, I think they are indeed relays. Right then, at least I know which shops I need to casually stroll past next time I go shopping.

how do I set up a relay again?
would it work with my AC68U?

would setting up the relay allow me to participate in the International Streetpass event?

Nabbed from twitter but I never knew the French situation for Nintendo Zones was quite this bad:

I should have known as the news post post about International streetpass week is only written for the België, Deutschland, España, Nederland, UK & Ireland NOE web sites. Still NOE kind of didn't help by tweeting on the general NOE account about this rather than the 5 accounts for those countries.

Right, sorry to keep asking stupid questions, but I'm now confused about Nintendo zones and relay thingies.

If I want to get more miis, can I simply put my 3ds into sleep mode, walk into town and into the shops that are the "hot spots", and walk back out again?

Or do I actually have to pull out my 3ds in the shop and connect to the zone? Cos I'm going to feel pretty silly doing that.

Unless the zones are completely different things to the hotspots. I give up.

Yes, just walk into the place with your 3DS in your pocket. You'll hit the relay/hotspot automatically and get loaded up with a max of 6 Miis.

Man I sent Reggie to the Mii Maker and then back and he lost his Bowser hat. Don't like how sending Miis to the Mii Maker is a one way Street unless they have gold pants.

I'm just testing out the zombie game with play coins. Why would I ever need more than one survivor?
Faster level completion as you can take damage to save time (the first boss practically one shot me when I had one weapon for example) and being able to use more charge shots.

I'd say it is far less than the effect of only taking one weapon to a level in Squad/Mii Force though. I can see it being a gamble in later levels but unless you try you'll never know.

does anyone have a list of Golden Pants/Nintendo Miis?
would like to add all of them to my VIP Room

can't find Nikki
You can only send Miis you have streetpassed to the VIP room (and have not demoted to met by invitation). Sending a Mii Maker Mii to the plaza results in a met by invitation Mii which the option doesn't show up for.

I found Nikki - but she's Met by Invitation :/
I didn't send anyone to Mii Maker either :/

Is there a list online? I cant seem to find one.

My first 8 ones were:
Wii U Hat
Pirate Costume
Chef Costume
Ninja Costume
Shocked Bubble
Downcast Bubble
Under Pressure Bubble
Black Bubble

+ 2 Hats are going to be for 100% the new games
Oh and I forgot about the two hats for the new games you get free. So it's 17 hats in total.

and someone posted about Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong, Pikmin, Animal Crossing Bubbles - becaus he probably just changed the date on the 3DS to check all of the stuff.

Do you have to buy the new games for the hats or they come in the update and unlocked with tickets like normal?

The new hats
/bubbles
come with the update - BUT you have to use tickets to unlock them - so if you saved up some tickets, you'll be able to use your tickets for the new hat's instead of the old ones

Does anyone know how the free home theme that Game are offering works?
Is a Nintendo Zone thing so you could cheat it by changing your Wifi settings at home to something, or do you need to get a code in-store like when they hand out event Pokemon?

Wow what a night/day difference. I got an extra router I setup as a Nintendo Zone and got 6 new people in my plaza. Even got an AC item and people from around the world. Pretty cool how this works.

This is just a general question, not related to the update:

If you've checked in ten Miis, and only play certain games (so that the ! still remains for a few of them, for example), do those Miis just get overwritten in those unplayed games when you eventually go to the gate again and greet new people? I know you can only have ten queued at once. I'm just wondering if the Miis kept for eventual use in those games are the first un-used ones that you greeted, or the most recent ones. Does that even make sense? :x

I like the idea of the vault since I don't really want to feel obligated to play EVERY game every time I get a SP, but maybe I should just get over my obsessiveness and only play certain games when I'm in the mood to. I haven't beaten them all; they can just be so monotonous.

Bought the new games

Going to be fun swapping shirt colors and hobbies on my other two to move this along.

I love fishing games so I'm probably going to be addicted to that one for a little while.

Sorry if this has been already asked but in my Game plaza Warrior's Way and Flower Town have gold medals, but only those, what are those suppose to mean?

Also tried Ultimate Angler. Really fun. Can't wait to try the other one.

Zombie game is like action Mii Force not on an auto scroller.

Fishing game is fucking awesome.

Now I want to buy and play an actual fishing video game :(

So if I like Mii Force, will like the Zombie one then?

I'll definitely pick up the Fishing game, just trying to decide if I want the pack.

Yeah.

Instead of weapons based on shirt color, it's based on whatever their hobby is. I only had two tags from my other 3DS systems but one weapon was a spoon and fork since apparently my one Mii loves to eat. The other one was a megaphone and I have no idea how I got that.

Getting hit reduces your weapons durability and if you run out of weapons it's game over. So pretty similar to Mii Force.

Mii Force was all autoscroller but this seems to have regular stages. You move around to find zombies to kill.

I like it a lot more than I liked Mii Force since it isn't on an autoscroller.

No way.
I've got all of my special Mii's stored in Mii Maker, so I guess they're all useless now.
Not a chance I'm paying for this Premium thing.

So is there no way to get rid of that purple arrow now that usually only points when someone is at your gate? It is so obnoxious and I can't get rid of it...

Initially: Zombie game seems really fun, I want to play it more!

Fishing game will probably be fun once I've got the hang of everything, first up play isn't as good cause its like LEARN THIS, LEARN THIS, ONE MORE THING, OH BY THE WAY etc.

Overall: Yay more Streetpass stuff, love it!

I got the VIP thing because I will purchase everything Streetpass related cause I enjoy it so much, man it ain't worth what they're asking for it though. -_-

I really like how they keep updating the streetpass mii plaza with different games and functions! If only they could update the AR games too...

Ahh Shibata got me the 'Met 10 Special Mii's' accomplishment, gave me the final puzzle piece I needed and teamed up with me to kill some zombies with his special camera.

All hail Shibata!
