3DS Streetpass Experiences

First off, that is fantastic. Secondly, how did you get that big-assed screenshot? It is your own capture?
If you go into the garden game then use the camera function while viewing your own garden (it's an in-game thing, not something like the 3DS image share or miiverse) then it'll spit out an image that size on the SD card.
This might be a dumb question, but does the screenshot size differ depending on the model? I've taken some Smash and Flower Town shots on the original 3DS, and I get 240x400 images on my SD card.
I don't think it's tied to the system, I'm on the regular sized New 3DS now but I took this screenshot when they first added new streetpass games back in 2013 and I was using the original 3DS then.

It might just be those McDonald's. Sometimes my local one's zone is offline, and the next time I visit it'll be back online. Home Depot is still my go-to place for passes, especially since we're working on weekend projects and always forget something or other that requires a trip back to the store. With its two zones I can grab 20 passes each time I visit.

Well the thing is, my cousin brought his 3DS too and it read the McDonald's as a Nintendo Zone just fine, but mine wouldn't. Which just really perplexed me. I tried connecting to the Wi-Fi directly but nothing really happened. It's really frustrating...

I met a Russian... that's a Special Mii... but not from Nintendo... ???

Using homepass you'll run across gold pants Miis that aren't official. If it doesn't say they're from Nintendo that's a dead givaway that it's hacked, but they can make it say it's from Nintendo too. If you keep track of this topic you can usually tell who's genuine and who's not.

I'm pretty sure they can't mess up your system in any way.

whew! oh well - adding him to the VIP Room just for the fun of it!
and they start rolling off the Plaza from 1000 onwards right?

EDIT: Strange that Homepass isn't giving Streetpass hits on Rumble

Is it in the first slot for activated Streetpass titles? Pretty sure it's bugged so that slot never gets tags from relays.

Wait a minute... I thought you could only streetpass ten people at a time? Did they remove that limit?

And how was the Zelda concert? I'm going in October - can't wait!

Yeah, the limit of 10 is still in place; however, as soon as the miis are in your plaza it resets to 0. I had around 10 mins in the queue for merchandise and was around 40 mins early to my seat, so had a continous stream of hits for quite a while. I now only have 10 pieces of the latest Monster Hunter puzzle left to get.

As well, the concert was really good, I'm sure you'll love. Unfortunately no concert can ever cover all the fan favourites so some always have to be left out, but they choose a really varied selection.

oh my. yes it is.. i thought that was fixed with the new3DSXL? :/
darn how do I change its position?

EDIT: hmm does the Relay only get you 9 hits at the maximum?

So the flower game is actually good? I remember reading a negative review of it a while back which kinda put me off.

Not sure I could handle having four Streetpass games on the go at once.

So in fishing for the purposes of gold/silver tickets does the game use your current region or the one you set when you first started the game? If it is the latter I missed an easy trick to guarantee those.

Why do they matter? Four Islands require them and the play coin costs are utterly insane for the gold one (50 play coins) which one of the islands is exclusive to. Silver is different region in the same country is a nice fuck you to the UK with our 4 regions (as Nintendo decided to use the 4 nations instead of, you know, the counties like is done in most other countries) and it costs 10 play coins according to the Japanese wiki (I'm sure I read 30 in the game itself though).

It also turns out special Miis count as foreign for this purpose. You have to beat the first Island for the tickets to start to show up so Shibata was not able to help here.

I also had a really weird relay bug. When using a relay I received the same Mii twice in a row (both were the extra 5 the Nintendo zone generates) but they had different stats in the plaza (and were separate), different high scores in Mii Force and different Gardens to view. Judging by different hits/plaza size/scores one of them was months older than the other one (but both had the same last played software). How long do these spare relay Miis hang around on the server for?

I wish I had more tickets :( I assume when you get all of the ticket achievement AND in-game challenges, then you are able to get all hats and bubbles? I'm saving the bubbles till last.
Each game gives 22 tickets. You will need the VIP room to be able to afford all the bubbles.

It looks like it's using the screenshot feature from Flower Town.
I am so upset the fishing game doesn't have that feature as that one looks really good.

For whatever game you want top-left deactivate it then reactivate it. This is why I choose 3DS Sound for that purpose as it is always in your system and quick to that for.

The beginning parts are really slow which is why it gets negativity plus people being prejudiced because it involves growing flowers. But seeing as the bundle of the first 4 games is 25% off it can considered free (though I prefer to consider battle free as that is not good).

Also you are not obligated to play all the games at once.

ouch - I am amazed by how you guys reached the 9,999,999 warriors :O
and I had my 3DS since Dec 2012 :/
It is due to how the game scales its armies to yours and it eventually snowballs, usually around the third loop of the game. Plus passing people with plazas containing thousands of people.

I have 3000 troops now since I unaware that you can not challenge monarchs until a certain point in the game (I'm trying to do a low troop playthrough as I got all the tickets and had I fought the monarchs as planned and then failed the invasion I would have 59% of what I originally had).

If you're just using a single MAC address then you should get 6 Miis from it every ~8 hours. If you change the MAC you're using you'll get 6 more immediately. Each MAC address has its own cooldown just like normal relays. Some people use scripts to cycle through MAC addresses automatically but I find one to be more than enough passes in a day.

I was just looking closer at the Nintendo Zone map in my town. Without the Cloud hotspots the relay situation is tragic. I have to either go to Game or McDonalds to get passes now.

mind sharing how you set it up? - so I can figure where you may have gone wrong
I followed the instructions on the github page, I turned on Internet Sharing (selected "share from Ethernet" and "to computers using Wifi") and I have XZone set up like this. I also wouldn't mind knowing how to change the settings.

Thinking about it, I'm not actually hooking up a ethernet cable to my MBP, that might be the issue.

yes you need to hook up an ethernet cable to your MBP
and on your terminal type "sudo (pull the xzone file over to terminal and the filename should show here)"
Terminal will ask you for your admin password to authorize

and it should work

I'm really enjoying these two games. I even got VIP lol.

Streetpass has been one of my favorite things about 3DS.

I live in a big metro area so I get a lot of passes per day. I could imagine if I didn't that the value in these games would not be as much.

Got it working, thanks! 6 people on my first try and one was for Xenoblade! :)

EDIT: How do you get the clear medal for Find Mii? Do you have to get all the hats or visit every spot on the map?

Now i have all but one islands complete for fishing i can finally unlock the last boss area in the secret island to get the final island complete, curious what the boss will be of this one.

awesome! - you should leave it for like 6-8mins at least before you open up your 3DS so you get the maximum of 9 (sadly XZone has a limit of 9 - the dev is looking into making it the max 10)

not sure on Find Mii - I'm trying to figure that myself... would be great if the other GAFfers can help ^^

anyone know how we can clear Find Mii 2 quickly? T_T some of the stages take waves after waves of Streetpass Miis to clear

I really wish there was a different topic for the home pass discussions. It's not really related to streetpass experiences. Home pass and normal streetpass experiences are not comparable.

I love the international SP weekends. I've gotten about 20 passes so far. Loving the zombie and fishing game. I expected to dislike the fishing one but it's fun. I'm surprised at how hard the zombie game is. I actually died once on the back alley level! Hah.

Can I get this to work using my iPhone as a hotspot and Bluetooth PAN as the "Share your connection from" option, since I have a MacBook Air without ethernet?

Also, my Mac's Wi-Fi keeps broadcasting my old computer name and I think it's throwing off my 3DS.
EDIT: Got the second part figured out; order for me is to run the script and then turn-on Wi-Fi from the menu bar. If I have Wi-Fi turned on beforehand, it'll revert to my old computer name for some reason.

hmm under Internet Sharing, you are to change the SSID to either "attwifi" or the other one "Nc1@MCD" or something - check the link a few posts up.

not too sure about the iPhone tethering honestly - sounds like it's worth a try

---
I get daily Streetpass hits when I commute but this Homepass Relay thing really helps with getting those other regions/international hits <3

With XZone, I swear it should be working - I'm connecting, but just not getting StreetPasses. I'm seeing "Nintendo Zone" light up on the 3DS and when I enter it, foreign language menus pop up.

On my Mac, I'm broadcasting the SSID NZ@McD1 correctly and the script is running. I'm making sure to run the script in Root User even so that permissions are in no way an issue.

Maybe it's just not liking iPhone's Bluetooth tethering somehow? If so, big time bummer. I want to play more of the fishing game with a bunch of streetpass folks.

With a long sigh, I decided to boot up Flower Town for the first time in six months and give The Dude's Wish one more go. It was the last ticket I needed. I had a few possible short Meadowlark seeds to choose from, so I grabbed one that looked short enough and popped it in. I had submitted dozens of Gloria family flowers before that looked really short, but apparently weren't. But wooooow, this one actually meets the requirements and I receive a perfect on the request. Now I can put this game away forever.. FOREVER.

Are all your job medals gold or silver?

By nearly emptying your play coin balance. hire as follows in this exact order:
One wanderer, two level 7s Miis of the same colour, a second wanderer.

When fighting fuse the level 7s and destroy most of the early stages. Use wanders to buy potions to bring them back and repeat until you are stopped, in the past this was rooms but now it is you balance running dry (as the helper hare stops rooms being a problem).

I would usually employ this on the tower section of the secret quest as that has enemies which are tedious for a level 1 Mii to face.

:O guess I need to wait for my coins to refill till 300....

can someone refresh me on Feeding Frenzy for Angler again?
the sea was glittering but it did not activate - was it random?

Got my first Rare Zombie this morning (
Superhero in the Subway by the staircase
) Is that all there is to them? A Stage/Weapon/Location combo?

Finally beaten all the bosses in fishing that last boss LOL not what i was expecting, finally got to see the true ending and a very special rod as a reward the
UFO rod
it has max stats but the problem is it only has 3 upgrade points and i can't mrge it with another rod to get additional upgrade points as it will transform into something else. Shame really as if i could get all the stats filled it would be the strongest rod in the entire game.

Still some hidden fish to find though, every so often a streetpass visitor will bring the location of one of the hidden fish with them. These are the fish on your lists that are hidden and don't have bait colours, you can only get them when the red fish marker appears over the island it's on. Stil have no idea where the blooper from the official trailer is hiding.

I am amazed by how fast you guys progress in these games. I feel like I've been playing the mansion game FOREVER, and I'm only on floor ten!

don't worry.. I had my 3DS since Dec 2012... and the new games Day One whenever they are released - and I'm still on Floor 15 lol

It's a slow grind for me, too, but it's fun. These games feel like they're meant to be consumed in small bites. I don't really ever use coins and only bring my 3DS out with me once a week or so, so my progress is naturally going to be pretty slow.

I really wish there was a different topic for the home pass discussions. It's not really related to streetpass experiences. Home pass and normal streetpass experiences are not comparable.

I can see why you might be frustrated by people discussing Homepass setup here, but people using Homepass have a closer experience to what's intended than others in most areas of NA/EU. You have to remember these things are basically designed for Japan where people get passes like crazy. With Homepass I get 6 passes + 2 from the other two systems in my house, 3 times a day. Since I'm usually sleeping during at least one pass I often miss out on a few here and there. That's about 24 passes a day, with up to 6 going to waste.

Without Homepass I'd only get 2 passes every 8 hours from the exact same Miis, plus 6-12 from McDonalds relays whenever that's convenient, which for me is about once a month. I did this for years, and playing through the first batch of games almost exclusively with play coins was not fun.

The only thing that's not genuine about my experience is that I get people from all around the world all the time instead of only locals and vacationers/travelers, which really only affects the Streetpass maps and Ultimate Angler.

I don't use play coins anymore since setting up Homepass unless I'm trying to beat a specific challenge and need to rehire a Mii that fits the bill. Before I used them almost exclusively as my way to progress, which was terrible. I don't want to burn through these games too quickly and I feel like the pacing is pretty nice right now.

Apparently I haven't completed Find Mii 100%. How will I know which paths still have treasure?

You should be able to push X on the map screen to see where treasure boxes still remain.

I've been to a couple of McDonald's that I know have Nintendo Zones but my 3DS doesn't seem to register them as such. Is anyone else having this issue? :(

One McDonalds near me always works rapidly, one sometimes works and usually takes a while, and the other one just about never works.
