3DS Streetpass Experiences

Ideally you don't want that semicircular gauge to max out but you can upgrade that to a lot bigger as you find and combine/upgrade other rods. Yeah you just have to let it off keep an eye on the fish icon when it's green get reeling but when it's yellow or red hold off a bit as trying to reel in when red isn't effective and stresses out the rod and line gauge a lot faster.

If you get the green circle gauge on the top right then you have caught a boss fish, you need to get the entire circle gauge filled in red however there is a time limit, when the gauge is full you then have to reel it in. You still have to be careful of the other gauge that you don't break your line. Depending on your rod stats will determine how fast you can get the gauge to fill however if you fail and lose the fish the circle gauge will remember where you got to so when you get the boss fish again it will continue from where you last filled the gauge to making it easier to get the boss fish.
This is super helpful - I didn't really understand that the color-coding system affected the effectiveness of reel. I thought the gauge being red was more of a "high risk/high reward" situation - your line has a chance of breaking, but the tradeoff is that you can reel in faster. I'll try going green next time.

I'll keep an eye out for the boss fish gauge too (something else I didn't know about). Thanks again!

how big is big? I'm already on Level 17 and I've been trying to lay the whole level with as much of the same color as possible
Observe the "at once". Yeah, so the first 3 to 4 chests are wooden/metallic, then bronze, silver, and every additional chest is golden. Another spot likely goes away for the alchemy sphere (I reckon there won't appear another sphere if you already have on instantiated at the border of the area), and there can turn up a Mii. So, at least about 7-8 chests at once?

thanks guys - hmm so the piece that results in that "combo at once" should be quite a large piece right? this gonna take some careful planning :/

Yes, optimally you want the piece in the middle to be as large as possible.

For true min-maxing, you can also involve the starting square of the floor, which spawns items as if it were not already a room if you connect it to a larger room.

I've completed Monster Manor except for the two achievements for the puzzle boxes. I can just never get the boxes to spawn, which is why I don't even have the 'clear 10 puzzles' yet, despite playing the game for such a long time. I've had hundreds of gold and platinum chests, but like.. a handful of puzzles. :/

Here's my post on the subject from a few weeks ago, if it helps. Basically, puzzle boxes are dependent on meeting the same people multiple times, and it is better for those people to -not- own Monster Manor:

Puzzle boxes are given to you upon meeting other Miis within rooms you create. The logic behind these encounters is something like:

1) If the Mii you encounter also has Monster Manor, you will be asked if you would like to team up. If you decline the teamup, you will be given a random item from that person's inventory. If the person does NOT have Monster Manor, you are usually given gems.
2) If you have tagged that person two or more times, the person will offer you a puzzle box. If the person has Monster Manor, a puzzle box that person has completed will be offered to you, with their completion time as your target time. If the person does NOT have Monster Manor, a puzzle box you have not yet completed will be offered, with the default target time.

So the most efficient means to collect puzzle boxes for someone with a second 3DS without the game is to set up multiple encounters with that second 3DS's Mii. This usually involves building up a large queue (I just used play coins to hire randoms if I was not in an area where I was receiving passes regularly), dropping the second Mii's piece first so it is free for encounters, then using the rest of the queue to create rooms to try to start an encounter (larger rooms are better).

All natural.

You're addicted man, I'm like at 2,600 streetpasses right now natural as well if that's what we're calling it.

Also, does anyone know when Today's Selection of hats updates because I can't seem to find a legitimate response anywhere.

The selection of hats updates when you're in Mii Plaza and it's been at least 24 hours since it last updated.

So for example, on day 1 you enter the plaza at 1:00 and it says new stock is available.
On day 2 you enter at 12:00 and there's no new stock yet because it hasn't been 24 hours.
You come back at 3:00 (still day 2) and it says new stock available because it's been over 24 hours.
But now, on day 3 you have to come at 3:00 or later to get new stock.

Because it makes you wait at least 24 hours and resets the clock when you see the new stock, this means it's constantly being pushed back and at some point you're bound to be forced to skip a day because it'll be while you're sleeping.

Finally had a chance to really play the new games with a full queue of Miis – they're both great. Ultimate Angler is definitely quite similar to Flower Town, but it seems like it'll be a lot more fun to play over a long span of time and continue to collect species.

Ultimate Angler is 10x better than Flower Town. Then again I don't mind the game like most people do.

Got a massively upgraded Poseidon Rod. Feels good. Love both of these new games. Reeling the bigger game in involves a bit of strategy, and the weapon/objective/enemy variety in Battleground Z is quite refreshing

They got me to get the VIP crap because of those damn Plaza Tickets -_-

My daily Nintendo World visits have been made exciting again! Just recently got all USA regions

Have all of the new hats, suits, and bubbles been revealed from Japan already? I have a ticket I have on hand that I'm saving...

eh wait - what has the VIP room got to do with Plaza Tickets?

I'm still using the Sword Rod :/

and dang I keep losing at the final battle of Warrior's Way... was at 9million... and now I'm down to 6million ugh

and Monster Manor too :/

StreetPass Mii Plaza Premium gives you access to StreetPass Birthdays, with which you can earn even more Plaza Tickets. You need the Plaza Tickets from StreetPass Birthdays if you plan on buying everything available.

What the... it's that tough?! Well, it's only my first playthrough and I'm almost at the 1.2 million mark that the enemy's army has. Is this the first playthrough difficulty or do the army numbers rise in the second playthrough?

I'm glad they made the Wiimote decent at least, for people with the hobby "gaming", because that accounts for about 75% of all hits I get.

yeap. it's my fav weapon.
I completed the game - not sure if I really want to go back and get all the medals...
I'm missing a specific weapon type T_T can't seem to find it :/

Funny how the most common weapon (Wiimote) is also the best one. Hits relatively hard, it's fast, and covers plenty of range. Every other weapon feels gimmicky is some way or another.

Got the Splatoon Hat. Now every other hat is effectively obsolete.

I got 6 StreetPass and got the superhero costume, pop-up book, pillow, frying pan and Wii remote. Live these weapons :lol

trying to get some combinations of the flowers can get rather annoying :O
- Short Albastor Morris?
- Tall Birthday Cake?
any suggestions on how to get these tall/short options?

I wonder how many weapon types are there in Monster Manor... lol I finally found my first Gold Chest... :/

You need to cheat by pressing home and quitting if you are about to lose. Next time you start the same you will be told off and will lost 10% of troops if you press home again...unless you decide to "do nothing" that session.

Armies are always scaled to yours (it never gives you an unwinnable scenario, with the correct splits and sending out the right troops you can always win, the latter part is difficult though). Final battle is always more than yours by a random margin (caps at 9,999,999 though) and it plays differently to the rest of the game and so is very much luck based. That and the monarchs really drag the game down.

any advice on how to get the medals for the rare zombies? :/
Gamefaqs has a few posted as people figure it out (or so they think as the suburbs one shows). If you apt for translating you can find more hints here:
http://www45.atwiki.jp/miiplaza/pages/198.html
That is the in-game order which is not the same as the actual stage order but as the hints in-game mention the stages it shouldn't be a problem but as you can see they are still a problem as they are all do arbitrary things and have the right tools to do such things.

edit: A few are translated here

You do seem to have multiple lives in the game (at least on the 4 tyres stage I lost first time because didn't tell you how to get the tyres until about 30 seconds remained and could retry with the same batch) so much like the gems in Mii force you get mupltile attempts.

I'm honestly not sure I'll bother as I really don't like the zombies game (it feels like a bad brawler where hits don't have impact and you'll always feel like you have the wrong tools for the job) and since I don't care for bubbles (nor most of the +1 costumes of this update) and can't afford to 100% anyway (thanks VIP) I can afford not to bother.

Thanks for the heads up. I never put the time to search for the mechanics, just figured it was random. Guess I'll start grinding these more often.

Later on they introduce some enemies it's not as good against, but yeah, it's my mainstay. Quite like the variety in missions in Zombies, though they all amount to mashing A quite a lot. It's not bad, but not the best.

Fishing, on the other hand, is lovely. Reeling one in is ultra-simple but satisfyingly tactile, and the whole thing is gorgeously presented. Really captures the feeling of a nice little relaxing trip out - just you, a few friends, and some beautiful scenery. Up there with Mansion for me, albeit for different reasons.

I'm not sure if I enjoy Manor/Mansion as much... waiting for that "perfect" piece to show up really takes the joy out of the game :/

there's too much RNG :/

Short and tall requirements are definitely the most frustrating. All you can do is:

A) Grow the required plant
B) Set it out and hope it gets cross-bred with a plant of the desired height
C) Repeat infinitely

Just make sure in the case of the birthday cake you verify (via seed shape) which seeds will grow more cakes (short or not) so you can keep trying. It's definitely easier if you have a friend willing to put out a specific plant for you. (When you own Flower Town, the plant on your workbench is the one you bring around for breeding.)

Last guy in Warrior's Way has a pattern. Face him, take the loss, but copy down his pattern.

Use coins to buy troops (should be a 10x boost)

Next time you face him he won't use the same troops but will happen in the same pattern.

ex. First time he used Scissor-Scissor-Rock-Rock-Rock. When I came back with troops he went with Rock-Rock-Paper-Paper-Paper, the pattern that would beat himself last time.

Granted I've only done this once but I 5-0d that sucker when I did it so I think it works.

I bought Battleground Z on a whim yesterday since I had $5 left over and didn't want to waste it on themes or something like that (plus those custom speech bubbles were too tempting >_>).

It's my first Mii Plaza game! Seems fun, hopefully it holds up with time. Plus I now actually have a chance of getting a cool hat off the ticket booth thing :P

Is the fishing game any good? I'm kinda tempted to get it as well (I couldn't get the bundle earlier). The previous games didn't interest me much (except Mii Force) but these look a little more involved. What are you guys' favorite ones?

just tried... didn't work for me - he was totally random... dishing out something different for each of the five turns :/

In Warrior's Way you can turn your console off right after you lose and you won't lose any troops. Next time you open up the game, you'll get a message warning you not to do it again or you'll lose troops, but as long as you play through another set of passes normally (and doing nothing with your recruits counts) then you can turn your system off to save your troops again without repercussion.

I thought this was the case... Well, I guess it's do or die then! I still have to go through a second time, anyhow >_>

As for monarchs, I've been lucky lately. At first I kept running into 9,999,999 ones, now it's more reasonable in the tens or hundreds of thousands. Should be close to 100 monarchs beats by now, but I lost count. 300 will suck :/

These Rare Zombie requirements in Battleground Z sure are frustrating. Even with the hints provided in the descriptions I've only gotten two so far...

I don't have a Streetpass experience that is really worth mentioning. I live in New Orleans, and there isn't a lot of 3DS traffic around my bar, on Frenchmen Street. But, I do have something to give away: I have a New 3DS XL charging stand for whoever wants it. I'll send it free of charge. I just ordered one too many, and I'd like to send it to someone who can use it. Thanks.

I just bought a New 3DS XL and I am missing having a charging stand. If you are still willing I would love to have one.

At the risk of being too forward, I'll PM my address.

Loving Ultimate Angler.. anyone who enjoyed Fishing Resort will appreciate it. Nice to see Yuji Naka and his team keeping busy. This game is extremely full featured.

Indeed. Seems like they werent being tracked, alas.
Even if they were being tracked, it'd be too easy to let people with a ton of tags just get an insta-complete calendar. Plus, at least it gives really active users with a lot of hits something new to collect.

anyone know if turning off the Birthday greetings also turns off its collection?
trying to shorten the amount of time it takes to go thru all the hits

Are people using the circle pad or the screen to reel in fish?

I opted for the touch screen to avoid destroying the stick, but it's probably bad for the screen too.

Edit: Formal Outfit is a good weapon.

don't think I bumped into anyone using that yet :/

I'm changing my little sister's Mii activity every day to slowly get all the weapons at least once.

Yeah, streetpass works normally and good, but it's the one thing in all of streetpass I've done like that. Everything else was legit.
