3DS Streetpass Experiences

I went to Disney and got a good number of streetpasses (around 20), one guy apparently works there and has a ton of miis, one of the perks of the job I guess.

Today i play my 3DS again (alone) and i can't use my friends' Miis in save the crown, it's like i waited too much and lost the possibility.
What gives?

I was under the impression that if you go in the streetpass plaza, you have to do puzzles/find mii with newly found miis while you're there, because if you leave you lose the ability until you streetpass with them again. It's kinda annoying.

FFS got my first streetpass the other day in the commons (Boston). Kinda strange being I live in pretty populated area and had 3ds since launch and this is my first....At this rate i should complete the present in-handheld stuff by 2095 IF they dont add anything new. Was cool to see the lil green dot though

Yeah I've been having a pretty bad experience too. I take the crowded metro every morning in DC and I haven't gotten one during my commute yet.

Lol, yeah, I used to go to populated areas of the city on purpose but quickly realized that I get the most STreetpass hits while being at the University. Even made a comic about it last week.

Yay I also just finished up Save the crown last friday, when Streetpass Vienna last met.

I obtained three more new streetpass hits when I attended the Giants & A's game at AT&T park on Saturday. All two of the passes must have been from Japanese tourists as their personal message was written in Konji. They also had crazy horned & shiny red hats they obtained from Find Mii. I'm guessing that those hats are the end game reward?

That's completely stupid.

I'll probably never get SP hits in the future again and i lost the possibility to use those level 2/3 Miis in the RPG.

At least i got the puzzles.

Basically if i want to level up a Mii for the RPG (meet the same guy 2-3 times in streetpass) i can turn off the 3DS but i CAN'T access the SP Plaza once and then leave after i met them the first time, before the second or third time?

The hat you saw is obtained by completing Find Mii twice

As far as I know that is correct. If you don't go into the RPG game, your friend's Mii won't level up.

Yes it is pretty stupid.

The worst part is I live on a University campus! I walk straight through GW every morning. I'm really hoping Hill interns bring their 3DSs with them.

I mean, you use him when you get him, and when you meet him again you use him again and he's level 2.

Doesn't sound that bad to me :S

Just got 105/105 puzzle pieces today! Yay! Hopefully the June 6th update brings more puzzles to collect.
so i HAVE finished them all. darn. that's kind of sad. hopefully they release more! still working on the last fight in Find Mii for the 2nd time.

then my street pass plaza will be kind of useless for a while. here's hoping they add new content.

Does anyone here use their coins too? Or does everyone here hoard them?

Mine collecting dust. Unfortunately i bring my 3ds out with me in hopes of streetpasses but it gets no play. Im not even sure how many coins I have atm.

Zelda should change that and maybe ill get into the swing of things with that

Yeah but i thought you had to meet the Mii two-three times without using the RPG character even once, like a stacking thing.

But it looks like you have to use the Mii characters ASAP every time.

So it's SUPPOSED to work like this? -- if you access the Plaza and quit without using anything and wait one day you lose the contacts? meh.

Iwata: I want people to use their 3DS every day. Please make a game to help.
Designer: How about we let people stock up on streetpasses indefinitely and just jump into the battles when they feel like, potentially clearing great swathes of the adventure in one go (or getting bored in the process)?
Iwata: WHY DO I PAY YOU?

It's not ideal when you don't actually have the time, but the alternative might work against the game equally as much.

Finally got my first Streetpass from a demo station at Target. The Lego Star Wars demo was in it and the wifi was turned off. So I turned it on and got my first hit! lol

Finally got another pass today. It was the first one I've gotten since I finished trade school 7 weeks ago. I guess it doesn't help that I don't take my 3DS every day with me.

Got some DAO:D tags from friends yesterday, and I connected to my one friend twice in a three hour timespan, which was weird. Not complaining though, beat her twice in SSFIV, kicked her Throwdown's butt in DOA:D twice, leveled up her Mii twice in Find Me, but only connected in Nintendogs once. Weird!

Went to Fanime today with the primary reason of seeing what would happen with Streetpass, and holy shit it was nuts! The hits kept coming from just about every possible Streetpass I had. I maxed out so many things constantly. I even tried clearing stuff out in like DoA and SF4 but by the time you'd finish some, more would come in. It was just crazy and yet pretty damn cool.

Yeah conventions are perfect for streetpass. Its also slight proof that the 3ds is selling to the hardcore Nintendo fans at very least.

Can confirm Streetpass works across regions. I have an American 3DS.

Yesterday I went to Shibuya by train, hung out there, and went back and ended up w/ 6 Miis (all Japanese).
Today I went to Harajuku, ended up with 11 Miis (10 Japanese + 1 Australian).

Don't seem to be getting any coins when walking around though, what's up?

Also this is going to make leveling any of the Miis up kind of difficult. >.> I get lots of level 1s....but I think the chance of passing the same person again is pretty slim. Though it will be kind of cool if I see someone again I guess, considering I don't know ANYONE that I've passed.

Only 1 of those had DoA:D, though.

wonder how many hits I'd get in an Akihabara trip.....

As an experiment, over the last 2 weeks, I took my 3DS through:

- Heathrow Airport
- Geneva Airport
- Barcelona Airport
- Primavera Music Festival (http://www.primaverasound.com - 100,000+ people)
- Around 30,000 footsteps a day in Barcelona for a week

Total amount of streetpass hits: 3. Two of these were within a minute of each other in Heathrow Airport and one was on a bus in Barcelona. A bit disappointing - I wasn't hoping for thousands, but I at least wanted to hit double figures :(

The wifi radius for street pass isn't going to be amazing, and the devices need time to pair up and trade data, so the best places will probably be places where you and a number of people are stood or sat still for a period of time -- places like waiting rooms, buses, trains, game shops. Otherwise, yeah, you're passing a lot of people sure, but you're passing them quickly as you go from A to B.

Sounds like you've had a really nice 2 weeks, wanna swap lives?

I am a bit concerned that I haven't had a street pass hit in a couple of weeks, even though I *know* I've been around other 3DS' with the feature on. Is there any reason why it wouldn't work? Any known software problems / faults?

I promised myself I would resist from buying a 3DS until they redesign it and release an upgraded version (seeing how that's what happened when I got the original GBA and DS), but there's something about the concept of StreetPass that seems so damned cool to me I'll probably yield and get a 3DS earlier than intended.

Damn you, Nintendo! You and your tricks.

For the record, I've gotten 13 streetpass Miis (plus one duplicate) since launch just from walking around Center City Philadelphia and tossing my 3DS in my bag on most workdays -- and all without having to force it by going to game shops and the like.

Japan is amazing for Streetpass. Just a visit to the local supermarket gets me a new Mii almost 30% of the time.

I have about 140 Miis since launch.

I went to an animu convention thing on Friday and Saturday.

Plaza Population before convention: 5
Plaza Population after convention: 91

2 completed puzzles before convention, and I only had one piece of two others.
5 completed puzzles after convention, and I only need 7 more pieces until I'm done with the final 2.

I don't remember where I was in Find Mii before, but I'm on the final boss for the second time now.

So yeah, if you want a lot of StreetPass hits, go to an anime or video game or other general nerd convention.

Just, a word of warning: If you go and greet all the StreetPass hits, then right when you get back to the Plaza, it tells you there are more hits? Ignore it. Do your Puzzle Swap and Find Mii first, then go greet the new Miis. Otherwise you won't be able to use the first group in the games, thus completely wasting them. I did this the first time I opened my 3DS to see ten hits, and it annoyed me. At least until I opened it again a half hour later to see that I had ten more hits.

so, yesterday(1st time) i took my 3ds to work, hope to catch some peeps in the bus/city.
well, nothing.

only 3k steps, 10 coins. no puzzle.
i am dissappointed germany.

I still haven't gotten any tags for that or Samurai Warriors. :(
It's the only streetpass enabled game I have (only have Pilotwings and RR3DS) and I got it relatively late but I caught 3 ghosts. Last guy really was a let down - he didn't even have a puzzle piece I didn't own.

Talking about puzzles - I recently finished the
Super Mario Galaxy
one and holy shit at the effect, works so well.

I just go to the Nintendo Store on Saturdays. When I leave I have about 15 street tags (some previous people get tagged again, so there lvl goes up in the Find Mii game.) and I'll also get some RR ghost data and some gifts from other Nintendog users.

I was psyched when I had a tag the other day from someone with LEGO Pirates, but then was instantly bummed when it appeared they hadn't enabled their streetpass settings for the game. :-/

I'm glad I brought my 3DS with me to Hawaii. I got two tags in one day!!!! That is more than I have gotten since launch.

There are going to be so many gamers creepily stalking playgrounds with their 3DS due to this. I can't wait until the first false arrest story.

I'd have been worried about taking a 3DS through airport security. Did you turn it off before it went through the x-ray?

I got 3 over the weekend from being at the Ontario, CA and Houston airports. Thought I might get more. Was able to get started on some new puzzles. However, they weren't much help in Find Mii.

Well, I've been through StreetPass Quest about 5 times now. I think I'm done with that mini-game until such a time that there's a new version.

For how long did you get new hats? Im about to complete my second run through, really hoping they dish out more content with the eShop launch.

Nope. That didn't even occur to me to be honest - I was walking around with it in my pocket the whole time to get coins, and when I got to the body scanner, I just dumped it in a plastic tray with my keys, belt, coins, phone etc and let it go through the scanner in sleep mode....

Another anime convention has brought my total to a little over 500 in the Mii Plaza. Finally beat the second round of Find Mii as well, so it'll take even less time to add additional visitors to the plaza.
