3DS Streetpass Experiences

Asked this a few days back but got no response - has anyone ever used the restart Streetpass Quest option in the settings menu?

I've beaten Streetpass Quest II twice and also beat the 2nd quest once. When I started my next game I ended up on the 1st quest of Streetpass Quest II again though. I'd rather not play through the 1st quest again if I can help it as I mostly use wanderers and the last 3 bosses take ages to beat

When I clicked on the option in the settings menu it says I'll keep my hats but lose my progress in the quest. Does this mean it will forget which quests and rooms I've cleared or will it just put me back at the start and retain all that info? Terrified that I will lose all my progress :/

I'm heading on holiday tomorrow so I'm hoping to get some streetpass action at both airports going there and returning. Would like to get hits from other countries to fill out the map a little more. Anyone had a good experience at airports before?

I haven't had much success in airports which surprised me. Went from the UK to Spain last year and to Portugal this year and didn't get a single tag in an airport

Also carried my 3DS all over Portugal for the week and didn't tag a single Portugese person :( Got a few fellow Brits, 1 Irish and 1 Polish. On the other side I picked up someone from
NYC in an art gallery in Liverpool this past weekend so you never know who you'll meet or where!

I went to the Outside Lands arts & music festival in San Francisco this past Friday and Saturday. Threw my 3DS in my backpack before I left and ended up with 5 passes on Friday and another 10 on Saturday. That is easily my largest Street Pass gain... ever.

I got my first ever streetpass in the pub that I run today. I always keep my 3DS on the back-bar in case some kid walks in with a 3DS on them. I saw one once, but he was playing Pokemon, and I didn't have the heart to tell him to shut his game down so that we could streetpass. So today was a landmark, seeing as I've had a unit since launch.

What was spooky about it was that it was the second time we've met, and I can count the number of times I've passed someone in my home town on one hand. He is not one of them. So it must be someone I passed in London, which is miles away, or at an airport. It should log your locations. :(

I'm not a definitive source on this, and I'm not sure there is one, but: the hats that you obtain as you travel through Find Mii 2 are often based on what rooms you've already cleared and what paths you've already taken. So I would expect that resetting would just allow you to start again without losing your map clearage, but I can't say for sure. This post indicates that you'd keep your keys, so that's a good sign.

While at BestBuy for the game sale, I got a Streetpass for a Japanese 3DS.

I'm currently wondering whether someone imported a 3DS or someone was actually visiting from Japan.

(They even had two "must get this puzzle from Spotpass" puzzles -- I assume those were Fire Emblem and McDonald's.)

Flew from Atlanta to Chicago and totaled one StreetPass at the two airports. Not even a Mii Plaza StreetPass.

And then by luck, StreetPass Chicago has a meetup next Saturday, the day that I fly back.

:(

The obvious solution is to convince them to move the meet to the airport.

At a video game tournament this weekend, about 11 people I am streetpassing repeatedly while there. Hope I get a few more people to level 7 to get a shot at that last key!

One other note for people who either use a device to generate Play Coins or who just walk a lot in a day and want more than 10 coins without messing up other days.

The 1000 steps = 10 Play Coins is +1000 steps from whatever the step count on your 3DS when you change the date. Therefore, you can change the date to tomorrow, press OK, change the date back to today, press OK, and then immediately start having your steps count for more Play Coins in the same day. Remember, it's +1000 steps from whatever the starting point is, so if you start at 2458, you'll earn Play Coins until 3458. :)

I seem to streetpass a lot of Japanese tourists when in Sydney. The Fire Emblem puzzle etc is invisible to other regions though.

Finally started taking my 3ds with me over the summer. I'm now up to almost 25 people I've hit over StreetPass. Helps a lot because I didn't get my 3ds till the day after Xmas last year, and I never really took it with me. So I guess I just really started with Find Mii this summer.

Those extra streetpass characters are nice to have! I'm on my 2nd play through of Find Mii 1 currently.

I have a blue case my GF got me for Valentine's day that I keep my 3ds in, and I just throw that in my backpack that I bring with me a lot of places. Then when I get come at nice I'll lay down and check and see if I got anyone from my experience throughout the day or maybe a couple of days if I don't open the system and just throw it in the charging cradle.

Best so far has been someone I met from supposedly Antigua is their info is to be believed. They don't even show up on the World Map. LOL :P

I might be bored enough to do this considering that I've been averaging 16,000 steps per day at work lately.

I never even bothered with Streetpass before but since I'm working at a college I'll surely get some hits when the semester starts up. I sure don't get anything walking around the mall.

Met someone from French Guiana today. Now it can go with Anguilla as regions without maps for me. So now I have , French Guiana, Anguilla, four Canadian Provinces, seven States, England, and two Japanese prefects. Not too bad, considering this is all from Toronto as I haven't travelled in the past couple of years.

I've gotten this Mii named Blake 3 times. He is from FL and his Mii looks like a liftle kid. There is a guy I work with named Blake. Is that possible?

So far I've met people in 11 states, one Canadian province, and the strangest was someone from Saudi Arabia. In my own town during one of my walks.
Granted, I do live near a military base, maybe that person was once stationed in Saudi Arabia.

StreetPassed a dude today at Future Shop. I thought nothing of it, until I got a PM from the dude on GameSpot asking if it was me who he StreetPassed ... and it was, lol.

man, i don't get this system.

fellow gaffer gunsmithx was just over here, comparing XL's and not one streetpass - we're both level 5 and havent tagged in over a week. turned wifi on & off again, rebooted systems & everything...nothing. a mutual friend's system tagged us both. any idea why this would happen? i thought 7 was the max level.

Maybe any of you just got a new battery for their 3ds? I remember near launch there was a report that if one took way too much time changing batteries, the 3ds would glitch and won't allow a street pass with anyone you streetpassed before. Also, you can totally tag anyone at lvl 7. In fact, I just tagged my friend at lvl 7 for the 4th or 5th time.

Mmhh I have a japanese and a PAL systems. I used to streetpass myself once in a while but since the last 3 or 4 days, when I got my XL and tranfered my PAL account, no streetpass at all! Just like the two systems now ignore themselves.
I was thinking of a temporary glitch/threethold of some sort, but your message make me wondering about a greater bug after the transfer.

I would like to see if other gaffers ran into the same problem?

Everytime I go over to my bud's house I bring my 3DS and it never StreetPasses, but it will with random strangers. I don't understand either. I don't think he's level 7 for me either.

wait, wait - that sounds like it! i totally forgot, was i supposed to let the new battery die first? i left it charging while i slept, did the transfer when i woke...what's the fix for this? please say i can just let the battery run out or something here.

streetpassed about 50 people at the Magic Kingdom in Florida last week.
Finished a few panels and finally started Find Me II.

Playing 3DS really made waiting in line for rides much better.

Went into Tokyo today and street passed 24 people. This time ago last year I got about 5-8 for going into Tokyo.

The times have changed.

Oh sh-- I somehow confirm that, I did the same thing because of a stupid website that wrote it will be a good thing to optimize the battery life insteed of letting the battery die entierely first!

crap! well...aside from formatting, a google search makes it sound like the fix might be as easy as changing hats in the mii plaza, but i wasnt sure if it was the solution to the same problem (others said all their prior miis were 1 day old & had to be deleted...), so uh, maybe try that? i hope there's something more definitive.

well, just streetpassed my girl (she got it, i didnt) so hat trick didn't work - gonna try removing the battery & putting it back in, as another site suggested.

Just streetpassed someone in west tokyo area (maybe kokuninji?) while on the train that showed they last played/playing "Nintendo DS Demonstration". Any idea wtf that is? Notice how it is DS ans not 3DS.

I met someone with a 3DS who did leave his wireless on for streetpassing. I just happened to have mine on me so I just showed him mine and he still didn't flick the switch for a second. Why? Why would you not make use of one of the best features?

Just to make sure, you 1) created a new Mii on the system transferred from, 2) started Mii Plaza and activated StreetPass, and 3) getting SpotPass messages, right?

I see someone else is having a streetpass problem too :(

My boyfriend and I just transferred our old OG 3ds' to new XLs yesterday and now we cannot streetpass each other at all......I just changed the mii I use for streetpass and he's doing the same now.....this really sucks

Find Mii 2 secret quest's golden key is mine~ Made it to the last boss over the weekend (I was at a music game tournament over the weekend and passed some 12 people multiple times) then rehired two level 7s over and over until he was dead. Was a bit painful because the other level 7 I used was literally 300 people away from the other in the plaza x.x

Do I still need to go back to finish normal Find Mii 2 after finishing the secret quest, or am I good just wrapping this last secret quest run up? It will still be a while before I'm completely done since I typically wait for conventions or other gatherings to do streetpass stuff.

You have finish Find Mii 2 three times to get everything and you have to finish the secret quest like nine times to get everything I think.

Make sure you know what paths to take on each, too, since just finishing it 3/9 times on any path does not get all the hats. It's very specific paths to get them all.

Did you remember to swap the SD cards? The StreetPass data is saved on the SD card so if you don't swap it you won't be able to StreetPass. The same thing happened to my friend because he wanted to keep the 4 gig card the XL came with instead of the standard 2 gig card.

Streetpasses problems:

For me changing hats for both of my units worked. I streetpassed a regular "stranger" too so I'm happy, it seems to be working again.
Thanks @IrishNinja for doing the research earlier this day!

All those littles glitches doesn't make much sense. To answer the other thread, to me, even the XL is not the best Nintendo handheld. Too much problems with the internal firmware.

Well what I did when transferring was, since I wanted to use the 4gig that came with the system and not the slower 4gig I had beforehand was copy my old card to the new card BEFORE the transfer, reinsert the 4gig that came with XL and performed the transfer.

Now the hiccup came when the transfer was finished and it asked me to trade SD cards. I simply left the XL card in, thinking since I transferred everything to it from the old one, I wouldn't have to swap. Well the XL refused to acknowledge I had a card inside it at all and I ended up swapping anyway and the XL acknowledged it and finished up the transfer.

Then once it seemed like everything was done, I swapped the XL's sd card which I had copied everything over to before the transfer and everything seemed to work fine.

Though streetpass won't work. Do you think anything I did there is the problem? I hope the explanation is coherent! :)

Did one of their messages say "I work at Disney!"?

Cause if so, that was probably, lol. ALWAYS bring my 3DS and leave with 10 streetpasses almost every day.

i swapped them, but ended up going back to the 4GB one for a bit (it's adaquate room for the time and accesses way faster than the microSD + adapter i had going), works just fine and again im at least tagging my old unit now, no idea if my friend & i would work though.

no problem man! im gonna tell my buddy and hope that sorts it for him, too. we'll see.

I woke up and my XL had a green light! It finally streetpassed after not working with my bf's new XL after we both transferred over.

I know at least one other person was having this problem in here. What I believe did the trick was one of us erased all the others previous streetpass mii's from the Plaza. We would ocassionally change mii's for streetpass so we had to erase a few of them. We only did this for one unit, not sure if it's because that specific XL we messed up the transfer somewhere along the line or what but it worked.

Glad I don't have to format the damn things or send them in ;)
