3DS Streetpass Experiences

Anybody got tips for the boss on floor 9? I can't seem to beat him :/
This ins't really a direct answer but more just advice.

In general you need to be smart about cultivating your weapons as you go through the game or else you'll hit plateaus (like the one you are at currently).

Each enemy is vulnerable to a specific weapon type, so you'll want to have one "dominant" weapon of each type with you at all times.

To elaborate on what I mean by "dominant", weapons vary in strength tremendously and drops are random. On any given floor you might get two versions of the same weapon with vastly different attack properties. For simplicity's sake, let's just focus on attack power. You might get one weapon with 20 for attack and another with 65 on the same floor. Again, there are a lot of different weapon properties so it will take a bit of experience to decide which weapon types you want to hold on to. To start with I would just look at the attack stat.

You want to make sure that when you are managing your inventory and upgrading weapons that you keep this one dominant weapon of each type in mind. Upgrading weapons doesn't combine/merge stats. You are just destroying one weapon in order to add some EXP to the other weapon. I didn't understand this at first (though it seems obvious now) and I ended up destroying some of my best weapons in order to add a bit of experience to some other marginal weapons.

To summarize, have one dominant weapon of each type with you at all times. When you get a new weapon, try to determine if you are going to use it for combining or if it is a new dominant weapon. If you do this you will always have at least one good weapon of each type and you should have no problem dominating any/all enemies.

One more thing. As you advance you will want to accumulate new weapons by forming large single-color room but you will also want to accumulate gems by fighting monsters in multi-colored mish-mashed areas. Try to be deliberate about this. Sometimes you need to discard pieces in order to keep this strategy going but it will be worth it if your weapons have started to lag behind the enemies you are fighting.

I think I have been doing things mostly right with Mansion. I've only had a problem with level 30 boss.

I still don't understand what exactly goes into the calculation of how many additional max-levels a weapon gains when going +1 or +2. Or why it goes from D>C>B>A.

Good analysis.

I am on Floor 15, and my weapons are starting to outpace the monsters, so I will have to deliberately make large color combinations to get some A-tier weapons I can begin leveling up again.

Thank god I can go back to just raising flowers normally, this was ridiculous

Finished Monster Manor
getting the true ending
and I don't think I'll be going back to that, even if I'm missing a few plaza tickets

Taking a break from Flower Town since I have over 60 different breeds and will just focus on Warrior's Way for now

Spent 20 playcoins on Mansion, put down first wanderer, find stairs to floor 30. Proceed to
fight a boss after which there is a credits sequence. By the way the Windbag totally destroyed that...I don't think level 3 charge was meant to be a thing (its A rank and due to faster charge speed is better than my S rank Drill of Doom)

Go back to explore. My 9 other wanderers have vanished...well it would have been coins for battle instead to put me even more ahead the local monarchs (this last batch were like 300 and 2000 respectively, I'm like 2 million but can't stop until I've got castle rank 20...when I get there I might as well cripple myself on purpose as the remaining tickets are fight monarchs, not defeat them).

Only 2 tickets to go in Mansion. All puzzles and all weapons.

At least there aren't anymore tickets inside chests taking up space that would have a good weapon in.

I actually went and won all 300 battles, most of the last 100 while using a 980k/10k/10k split. When I got the 300 battles ticket I just stopped battling altogether, leaving that streak at 300 for all time. Still have the greet peacefully 100 times ticket to get anyway.

I actually finished weapons (there's
40
of them) around floor 24 or so. Make sure you're filling in all those old floors!

Anyone else go to the Symphony of the Goddesses: Second Quest show in Boston this past Saturday night? I was trying to process Street Passes from the minute I was waiting in line outside 'til the show started -- and during intermission -- and I could not keep up. I think I ended up with something like 60 or 70 by the time I was done; in the interest of time, I started scaling back which Mii Plaza games I was bothering with.

I ran into one person who had the infamous 9,999,999 soldier count in the Warriors one. I wasn't impressed... I chose to "greet them peacefully."

What are other games that kill streepasses when they are running besides Pokemon ?

Idk if it's quite the same, but I don't get street passes if my HH Showcase is full. It's strange because I'll still get street pass data for other games. Took me a while to figure this out. I don't know anyone else who is full to see if they have the same problem.

When my showcase is full, the new passes just overwrite the existing houses. I missed a few AC houses from Japanese players after E3 because they kept getting replaced by new houses I'd obtain when I returned home. I never got the chance to order the eraser bed before it was replaced by a different house.

Monster Hunter, perhaps.

I know that sometimes when I suspend the game, the internet/streetpass connection icon is replaced by an orange local multiplayer icon.

I don't know for sure. I always quit the game fully if I'm taking the 3DS out.

A fellow student in a class two days ago called me by my real nickname, my internet name and knew that I was a user on a gaming forum we both frequent (Giant Bomb) via Street Pass.

Neat stuff; never thought I'd experience something like that.

FFS. There's a nintendo event here today.

If only those dozen 3DS demo units had streetpass working.

Edit: Got to play Zelda 3DS, though.

Wii Us were messed-up so no SM3DW.

Yeah, pretty sure I got next to no passes from the Nintendo stand. I don't know why I bother.

Luckily I got...

16 Fire Emblem
20 Animal Crossing
18 Plaza
16 Mon Hun
17 Pokemon
10 Mario Kart
3 SM3DL

...outside of that lol

Now over 600 total streetpass hits!

I was playing animal crossing and went through a MD's drive through, got five from the relay.
Streetpass relay is so weird.

Sometimes I get tags and sometimes I don't. Not knowing all the variables for sure I have just tried to maximize my rate by staying on the home screen. I guess that isn't one of the relevant variables.
*shrugs*

Actually there is one person at work that I have to do that for. I can get everyone around her while I'm still in a game, but I only get her if I'm at the home screen.

Relays had stopped working for me for a few days, but I turned my 3DS off and on again (normally it's always in sleep mode), and I RelayPassed last night, no problem.

When you find a relay where you don't get a pass without sitting there for ten minutes, you wonder how you ever get any just walking around.

I haven't encountered any that I know of. From my experience, streetpass relay only works if you are on the home screen (no software) with the lid shut.

Works fine for me with just the lid shut, doesn't matter what's running. Haven't tried it with the lid open since I'm usually walking around with my 3DSes in my bag.

Just to disprove what I wrote a few hours ago, I actually got a relay pass (with a game running) to work for the first time ever this afternoon during my lunch break. Yesterday I accidentally had left Picross e running and I did not get any tags. Today I went to the same place and I got a 6-pass tag. The lid was shut but I had accidentally left Mii Plaza open. I have no idea why it worked today and not yesterday. Unless Mii Plaza is somehow ok but Picross e isn't.

Haven't tried it with the lid open since I'm usually walking around with my 3DSes in my bag.
Something that is clear from this page is that there are a lot of unknowns at play here. Relay pass frequently does not work and it's hard to determine exactly why in those situations. The reason that I mention having the lid shut is that Nintendo has said that the 3DS needs to be "in sleep mode" for streetpass relay tags to occur. This was said in the Iwata Asks on the subject.
http://iwataasks.nintendo.com/interviews/#/3ds/streetpass-relay-points/0/0

I take this mean that you need to have the lid shut but I had further, it seems now erroneously, assumed that you also need to be closed out of any active software.

For what it's worth, I can confirm that I have gotten normal street pass tags with the lid open.

Yeah, I like it. Just doesn't seem like an obvious choice if you're only buying one game.

I like it even more because it just gave me a plaza ticket for meeting 500 people.

Running through Mii Force as part of trying to claim all the plaza tickets... I think that's the 12th or so time I've gotten hit exactly once on 5-3.

I'm still missing loads of tickets on Miiforce because I simply cannot be bothered playing it. Even though it's probably the best "game" it takes more time and concentration so I usually don't even bother starting it when I get a StreetPass group. I'll probably wait until I've cleared a couple of the other games fully; probably the Mii Battle one first since I'm just grinding out the "battle 300 Monarchs from afar" ticket. Over 100 to go. :(

The StreetPass mansion one is definitely the game I enjoy the most. I've been using a powerful weapon to finish off enemies and switching to weaker weapons before the hit connects so the weaker weapon gets all the experience. Still don't really have any great weapons though.

Is the quality of chest in rooms you create determined by the overall size of room you make or the amount of chest-making sections you activate with the piece you place? i.e. should I make a large room with a large piece-shaped gap then complete the room by filling that gap rather than just building the room randomly?

I don't know if what I've just said makes any sense.

Spend the entire day at my university for the first time since Pokemon launch.

6 streetpass (was usualy 1 or 2), all playing pokemon, all with almost NOTHING on the puzzle swap and armys of 5 people on Warrior's Way =P

Yay for new 3DS owners, I guess

Finally conquered the world. Went in last stage with an army of 950,000, got a lucky break and won
4 matches out of 5 in a row.
Nice shiny crown on my head.

Congrats!
Now you just need to traverse the world twice more, the last plaza ticket you earn from progression is castle rank 20, which pops during the third loop. You can just opt not to fight the Emperor a third time though.

I just want to say FUCK YOU MII FORCE GEMS !

There are some of those that I already killed THOUSANDS of my personal to try to get and NOTHING.

3-1 and 4-3 last gems are SPECIALY ridiculously hard

I'm at the point where I need to choose which games to have streetpass activated for with Link Between Worlds having streetpass stuff in it. Think 3D Land might be the first to go since it fills up so quickly and is largely useless to me just playing the game.
