I had a 1gig for my PSP but ended up selling it. I didn't get enough use out of it, so I sold it on eBay when people were paying double the value. It paid for my PSP...

That about sums it up right there, folks. 5GB isn't magically appearing on store shelves anytime soon (although I wouldn't be surprised if Sony shows an engineering sample of a 4GB stick in the next six months).

I'm pretty sure the largest memory stick that the PSP can read is 4GB. I read that somewhere.

I think 8GB is max, at least that's what I've read somewhere. No idea how much truth there is to it.

*edit* Here it says that Memory Stick Pro has maximum capacity of 32GB. I don't know if that holds true for Pro Duos as well.

4GB is the current max (2^32). there are both 48-bit and 64-bit addressing technologies in the works but none have seen the light of day yet.

edit - I stand corrected.. sandisk has released what seems to be the first >4GB device. $689 for an 8GB compactflash.

Game are full of shit. Never, ever trust what their employees tell you. They once told me to not bother buying a PS2 game because the PSP will be able to emulate PS2 games soon anyway.

Pro maxes out at 4GB currently, Pro Duo/HS at 2GB (I should know, I own one). But the 4GB pro just came out in March, and the 2GB PD came out around the same timeframe (I think it was February?). We've definitely got some time to kill before higher capacity models hit the streets.

You people do realize game stores hire ANYONE, right? I've never been in a EB, Funcoland OR a Gamestop where I have ever felt overwhelmed with one of the workers knowledge of video games. I always stand supreme. <3
