I just hope Marcia Cross gets hers for Desperate Housewives(Terri already got a Golden Globe...and I think Marcia's character has more depth)

Damn, I hate when two faves compete, but I'm gonna have to go with Terry O'Quinn for Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series.

BullSh!t for Reality program, but it'll probably go to EM:HO(which I like, but it's such a damn tear jerker).

Go Arrested Development! Prove why you're the best show ever!
Unfortunately, Raymond will probably sweep its noms, this season being their last.

I would love it Scrubs won for Comedy series....

Oh and if Jeremy Piven doesnt win for Entourage, then I will have lost all faith in the Emmy voting process...

Everybody thought that last year with Friends and Frasier both ending their runs, and AD came out of nowhere and snagged up best comedy in addition to a couple more.

AD needs it... the best comedy on television since... well since I can remember needs these wins to keep it crawling along.

Only 2 nods for the Shield? Aw fuck you....

One of tthe best shows on TV getting no love.... other than the stand out jobs by Close and Pounder.

oh, and arrested development got a total of 11 nominations this year:

Awesome. Awesome. AWESOME. Great to see the 2 best comedies up for an Emmy. :) :)

Man, so many fantastic characters being played this year.

It is a complete toss up between James Spader (Boston Legal), Hugh Laurie (House), and Kiefer Sutherland (24) For Leading actor in a drama series. All are FANTASTIC shows, and their characters will be known throughout TV-dom for decades to come.

I'd love to see a double whammy with Spader AND Shatner winning for Boston Legal though :D

The lack of The Wire, Carnivale and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is appalling, especially when overrated crap like 24 gets mentioned. As much as I like Lost, it also doesn't deserve a spot here by any stretch of the imagination either considering it was far too inconsistent in quality.

But what should I expect, the Emmys are even more of a popularity contest than the Oscars.

"24" got 11 nominations! Highest ever for "24"!
Hopefully they win this year, especially because most Emmy critics are saying that 24 had it's best season.

Lost is also cool with 12 nominations!
Oh, and The Amazing Race is doing fine too!

How does Matthew Fox not get nominated for Lost? Jesus, he was so good in this show.. not that the guys who were nominated didnt deserve it necessarily, but he really should be up there. Ian McShane has it in the bag though I imagination.

Also, can they please quit nominating Raymond and Will and Grace? They're DONE already and have been for years. Agreed on the lack of Will Arnett nomination being a disappointment.. please, Raymond doesn't need 2 guys nominated every fucking year. Next year he should get his due at least... and Buster's actor deserves one too (name escaping me). Fortunately West Wing is getting fewer and fewer noms though with each passing year.

Dan, I'm sorry, but bringing in Law and Order: SVU, the most depressing and blase television show today and dismissing both Lost AND 24 is just WRONG.

Pissed to see a lack of Shoreh Aghadashloo for 24, but glad to see some acting noms for Lost (Not really crying for Fox, didn't really think he was extraordinary). I'll leave more complete thoughts later, but Gilmore Girls is now the comedy left that's getting SHAFTED...go Scrubs.

My votes would go like this......

I guess they figured why reward a show thats already been cancelled(which was bullshit BTW). I do agree The Wire deserves some damned nomaintions for sure though. Its by far the best police drama on television.

You take that back.
I will not. I'm sorry, as badass as Kiefer Sutherland's character may be, the rest of the show is a trainwreck filled with annoying and retarded characters, not to mention the utter ridiculousness of the plot devices.

Just because it's depressing doesn't mean it isn't also brilliantly written and executed.

I love Lost, anyone that reads the Lost threads should know I'm a huge fan, but I hardly consider it deserving of awards, for the most part. Some of the acting is good (ie. Terry O'Quinn), and a small number of specific episodes are absolute genuis, but since the award is based upon entire seasons, I really don't think Lost belongs anywhere near the top, not when far, far better and more consistent shows didn't even get a nomination.

Edit:
Brian Fellows - On the bright side, Carnivale is up for eight of the more technical awards. Unfortunately, The Wire is only up for one.

I do quite indeed concur with this statement in general, but I really can't find any enjoyment in watching the show. While other procedural crime dramas have a sense of reality that breaks the monotony of crime after crime SVU lacks that entirely; it's complete lack of a "Law" component outside of the occasional cameo from the ADA makes it even worse. While I think that it captures the realities of sexual crimes very well and is indeed well executed, it's tone is just downright boring. It's the same thing, every week, with little to no real character progression outside of contrived drama like divorce or "Stalker from the Past".

See, the thing is that it ISN'T based on entire seasons. Sure, in theory it is and many probably consider it to be like that, but the reality is that only certain episodes are submitted from the perspective of the technical/series awards. And, it is based on the strength of an episode like the pilot that is sent out to Emmy voters, and in many cases it might well be the only episode they really sit down to watch. While I agree that Lost was a little bit inconsistent, most voters only really see and vote on one episode.

This is another reason that SVU doesn't have a chance; while consistent, no one episode REALLY stands out on its own or appears as too fantastic. It has its strong guest stars and all of that stuff, but it never really has an episode that is really different from the rest. Plus, it's a procedural in an era of them. Law and Order itself used to be nominated very often but now there's like 10 of the things, so there is a bit more of a critical backlash towards them. It takes the highest rated show on television, CSI, to break out in the category, and even it was looked over this year.

It's the same thing with 24...I think this season was its most schizophrenic yet, with some absolute lunacy in its writing in between some really strong episodes full of suspense, great acting and some really cool moments. But, a lot of Emmy voters would only see one episode, and that one episode would not show them all of the absolutely idiotic plot twists taken mid-season.

It's a flaw in the Emmy system that shows that have consistency issues have the exact same shot as shows without them in most cases, unless you have a very dilligent voter who takes the time to watch every single episode of every single show...and that just isn't going to happen.

Some other notes:

- Disappointed in Best Actress in a Drama...very disappointed. Patricia Arquette is comatose in Medium, damnit, and there really isn't much there, in my view. I think it's a token nomination to celebrate a successful and quality show, but it is the general premise and its execution that makes it good more than Arquette. I wouldn't be as pissed if the other nominees would have been stronger, but Garner did nothing worthy of it this season and O'Connor is old hat. This was another category that needed some new blood...plus Kristen Bell ("Veronica Mars") deserved a nomination for her work if only because the show was categorically ignored.

- Veronica Mars was another show cursed by the fact that only one episode is seen. It was the arc of Lilly Kane's murder that grounded the show's characters and that can't be seen in a single episode. It lacked a real showcase episode that featured everything, and thus failed to really capture Emmy voters.

- Gilmore Girls really did get hosed...Graham looked over for all 3 Housewives? Look, I think Marcia Cross is the best actress in the cast, and Hatcher is the best in terms of straight-out comedy, but Huffman is a worthless hack. Her character is just a lousy person who is a complete and total idiot and does not deserve to be awarded. Heaton was not a surprise at all considering her show's ending, but Kaczmarek is a fucking joke...are they SERIOUS? This woman is on a show that has received no publicity this year and has floundered in the ratings. This is a pathetic example of how the Emmys cannot let in new blood until a show ends and they're forced to pick a new one. For them not to choose someone new in this category is an absolutely lunacy, and Lauren Graham simply got hosed. I can understand the show's lack of a nomination, considering that it IS on the WB and all, but for them to ignore her entirely is just terrible. Ugh.

- The Huff nominations are surprising, and really come out of nowhere, and really take away a lot of good possible nominations. Also surprising is TWO supporting ACTRESS nominees on a show called Two and a Half MEN. I don't even know who these people are, and I'd swear I watched an entire episode of that show out of boredom one night. Here I was thinking that the era of the traditional sitcom was ending, and then they have to go and nominate almost every possible person from Will & Grace (Poor Debra Messing, she got Housewived) and everyone from Raymond...and two people from Two and a Half Men. Ugh.

While the inclusion of Scrubs is nice, Dr. Cox got hosed, simple as that...I really wish we'd purge the Emmy Voters...there needs to be a whole new breed, or something.

IF DH can have 3 for lead female then arrested deserves 3 for supporting male actor David Cross and Will Arnet were robbed. Good to see 24 get a ton of nominations after a kick ass season. Glen Close better win an emmy she kicked ass in the shield this season.
