5yrs ago Today Dredd was unleashed into British Cinemas

Saw this movie blind (didn't even know they were making a new Judge Dredd film, and i didn't even read Judge Dredd) and came out loving it so much I brought the Blu-Ray upon release.

Last I heard, it's being developed by Netflix and Karl urban is in talks to play Dredd. Haven't really heard anything else.

I hope it's like a ten episode season and every season is a different arc. Maybe even a dark judges arc or his brother as a bad guy. So many possibilities.
Yeah, me too.

Thanks anyway.

the movie is fucking amazing, i see it at least a couple times a year.

Is there a larger version of that mondo poster?

It's a really tightly focused focused movie that has solid action sequences, characters, and a story. It knows exactly what it needs to be and doesn't bite off more than it can chew. It feels like a 80s era action movie more so than a 2010s era action movie.

It's simplicity helped focus on the characters. For me it's a much more adult and gritty universe then the marvel one.

I am really curious to see if the show eventually tackles
Judge Death and the Dark Judges
and people's reactions.

Minds will be broken, especially if it keeps its adult ratings. However I imagine it will tone down the gore for TV. The movie was almost a love letter to fans in that respect.

One of my favorite action movies. Saw it on a whim at the theaters the second weekend it was out after hearing some good word of mouth and me and my friend were literally the only two people at our evening showing. It's a crime it did as poorly as it did at the box office.

I saw the Raid Redemption around the same time and while I like that film too, I far prefer Dredd. It just appeals to my sensibilities better.

While it'd be good if they can get Urban for a potential spin off series, my real hope is they'd get Thirlby to come back as Anderson. She was amazing and I'd actually prefer it if she took center stage and Dredd himself was in more of a supporting role.

Honestly, the fact that it’s a comic book film is incidental.

What impressed me that it was visually gorgeous, incredibly violent, and filled to the brim with talented actors.

It’s relation to a relatively lowkey comic book IP isn’t why people love this movie.

This.

I mean I was aware of the comic as a kid, but I've never been into comics.

What I enjoyed was that it was a brutally violent sci-fi action film of the sort they sadly seemed to stop making about 25 years ago.

If you're an afficiando of that sort of thing, well, then there's a lot to like.
