6 New Kameo Screens

uncanny :)

It is NOT Toy Story. But it is good and completely shames the PD team.

I am worried that it's coming from the DK64 team though. That game looked equally, if not more awesome before release, and we all know how that turned out. But different genre, hopefully they've leanred from their mistakes and they've had a hell of a long time to get this game right, so fingers crossed!

even though im not really interested in this game one bit, these are great pics. IT looks good, aside from some wierd texturing in places. Can't wait to see some platformers on nextgen systems.

As do I.

Maybe the generation after next, just maybe we'll get to that calibur.
Who is the guy that posted the seizure inducing picture which said, "calibur is not a fucking word!" ?

In hindsight I should've bookmarked that pic, heh.

Dorio, when was the last time you got your eyes checked? I plainly see the poly edges in the kameo screenshots. Woodie has more poly's in had than that entire kameo model. Not to mention the superior lighting in toy story....why am i even arguing this lol. Im bored at work i guess :P
I think Kameo has better texturing and better effects but less polys. There are better shots of Kameo though like the underwater levels and this.

Of course we have a long way to go before AA levels are where they are at in cgi movies. That's one of the last frontiers imo. I believe a next gen system could render those Toy Story shots no problem with the new bumpmapping techniques and it would be indistingishable aside from the AA.

Maybe the Kameo team should go give some tips to the PDZ team. Oh wait, they aren't allowed to talk to one another... beyond stupid.

I havent been following the game since I read about it in an August 2001 EGM (E3 edition).

Basically, my question is:

Is it the same game? Girl gets her little monsters to do her bidding, breeds them and such?

Or did they scarp that idea.

Essentially....what do you do in this game?

I like the graphics. :)

People who are saying Kameo = Mario, do you people do any research on games at all before you post about them? Kameo isn't even a platformer. There's no jump button. The game plays like a Zelda game, not like a Mario game.

Kameo is an Action/Adventure game not a Platformer.

Oh and these screens are nothing compared to the 800MB video on Xboxyde where this giant dude busts through the bridge. As good as you think these screens are they do not do the game justice.

Kameo is definately one of the better looking X360 launch games. I really enjoy the gameplay trailers I've seen so far. It's not really a genre I enjoy, but it looks damn fun.

From you've said before you're a working adult with a family, so I really don't see how you're not understanding what the "=" meant. And nobody even mentioned PC FPS so that just came out of totally left field.

Yes I am a working adult (don't know where you got the family part from :P) I happen to work with computers, specifically flash development.

"=" = the same. x=1 means that x is the same as 1. I don't know what you think it means, but that is what it means.

I only mention PC FPSs because I could give a rats ass what FPSs are launching with any console. PD0 has certainly not changed my opinion in the slightest.

but hey, you are entilted to your (incorrect) opinions as much as I am. The launch looks weak as hell to me right now. Is there even a confirmed lineup yet?

I knew something was missing... every texture in Toy Story is in Harmony and Balance each other... when I look at these pics from Kameo most of the textures clash and are in conflict.

they need to work on that a bit more I still think they can make them work

smiles...I agree 100 %. Same thing with perfect dark. Seems like all these textures and shders are thrown without thinking it through. Shame really cause they created tons of assets.

This is what Rare does best. Superior visuals, using a gloriously bold paint palette. Kameo is Banjo Three-ie on a super-powerful machine. I can't wait to just run around until the novelty wears off!

It is well known that when Rare was owned by Nintendo none of the teams talked to one another - everyone was secretive about what they were working on. Anecdotal evidence says this is still true today.

Just look at Kameo, then look at PDZ. Microsoft should tell the Kameo team to go and give the PD team a tutorial on how to program the 360.

I'm not an intern anymore, nor with EA, not even in the games industry anymore.

proably because you don't know what "=" means :P

(sorry, that was a low blow but you set yourself up for it :lol )

The programming doesnt seem to be the problem with PDZ. Seems to be an art issue to me. The game runs smoothly, it has a shit load of effects from what i can tell.

If there was any doubt about Kameo's graphical prowess, the latest 800MB video from Xboxyde confirms that it is indeed a spectacular showcase of Xbox360's power. The game looked alot more polished than earlier showings (even TGS) and deserves Next Gen status with no hesitation at all. I find it the most impressive game of the Xbox360's launch games.

This is the only game I'm interested in in the X360 launch (I'm still not convinced Oblivion will be a launch title). But damn is it an expensive system to get for just one game in the forseeable future.

PGR3 is a arcade racing game, GT is a sim(lite). This is not the same genre or even close.

that's funny you would say that. most simracers consider Gran Turismo to be an arcade game aswell.
definitely not worthy of the label "real driving simulator" anyway.
go ask around on Racingsimcentral forums for some opinions :)

Isn't Kameo a better looking game due to the fact that it isn't trying to be realistic like PDZ, but has a more cartoonish style? I imagine ultra realistic graphics are a lot harder to pull off. Not that I know anything about it though. Just an assumption on my part.

PD0 isn't making any efforts to look realistic. It is sporting the same cartoony look.. just with worse models.. by a lot. Actually the games striving for realism seem to have come off best (NBA2k6, PGR3)

What?

Those look pretty cool. There is a lot going on there. What kills me is as nice as I think these shots look, from a technological standpoint, we're all going to think they look like shit three years from now when the devs get a real knack for the hardware...

cant wait.

PD0, while stylized, still has semi-realistic settings and character designs. The closer you get to reality the more difficult it is to make it look good.
