6600GT (PNY Verto) overclocking

Ok, I have had PNY Verto 6600GT for few weeks and not until yesterday I hadnt played with any of the card settings. I applied some patch to unlock hidden settings and I found that the card was using some sort of "2D mode profile", clocked at 300/900 (CPU/Memory). I chose manual clocking and then "find optimal values" and clock speeds were changed to 560/1020!! Ok, some newbie questions:

1. Why my card CPU is clocked at 300Mhz by default? Shouldnt Verto 6600GT CPU run at 500Mhz?

2. My card seem to run fine at 560/1020. Aquamark score almost doubled. Is it safe to leave it to these settings? Or should I lower it to defaults for example if I know I wont play games for some time, for example if I leave computer on over night etc. Or does it matter at all...

3. Or I am just paranoid thinking 560/1020 may ruin my card? I'm a newbie with new PC cards, last desktop I had was a AMDk2 with Voodoo 3. :p

To answer your question, The card downclocks when running 2D apps. (i.e. your desktop)
that is why it seems so low, rest assured in 3D mode in runs at stock clock speeds.

Thanks. But why it seems that it runs at this low 2D mode also when running Aquamark? Shit, I guess I will just leave it to OC settings. :p
