I mean 90s is arguably the one time that America & UK were putting out genuine bangers. Duke 3D, System Shock, Doom, Tomb Raider, Wipeout….there's a time to be cynical about the West but the 90s were not it lol

Anyone remember antagonist inc on AOL? The console warring was very serious (had to justify our purchase.) Nintendo and Sony had their own separate chat rooms and groups would often organize raids where they just spam insults in the other chat room. Those were the days.

we have these because Google bought the USENET archives and saved them for posterity. These were the BBs that started existing in the 1980s before the internet.

Most message boards are long long long long gone. I posted on GamePro message boards I think.

Oh my god, the fucking signatures back in the day...

That signature image is not really that old. I made it for NeoGAF as a joke years ago, others were doing it too. It is a special occasion image thing that I have stored on my Deviant Art account via sta.sh. If you went back to Gaming-Age Forums back in 2004, almost everyone had an obnoxious signature image along with their system specs and AIM, Yahoo messenger, and Skype statistics. In this day in age, I wonder if NeoGaf could bring it back? Give it out as a perk for Gold members?

Couldn't get an old enough capture from wayback machine. MagicBox & NCSX (still around) are the 2 main ones that I remember from way back in the day. Gamefaqs too but that has changed hands and isn't quite the same anymore either.
